I have had beardies for over 50 years and for me they are the ultimate dog. Generally their health is excellent in my experience. They are extremely agile and flexible, and a flexible body makes for a flexible mind so they learn easily. As the breed developed for cattle droving, they are good at making independent decisions which may not always be to the liking of some people, but for me it one of their most valued characteristics. Above all they are loyal and devoted to their family. They are highly sensitive so raised voices are not for them and cooperative training methods work best as they love to please and be part of the team. Of course, each dog is an individual so some will be more sensitive than others. Regarding separation anxiety, I have had one dog who suffered from this, but we worked on it and eventually he was able to stay alone for a while. The others have all been happy to stay on their own for a reasonable amount of time. Of course I habituated them to that gradually. One dog shared part of his life with two mini pinschers and he could never understand their desire to pursue prey. He stared at them in amazement! In short, THE BEST!
Thank you for video
I adore them!
I have a bearded collie
We're seniors. And our Beardie loves us and we love her. However, she tends to like to be by herself. Although she insists on joining in on a group hug.
I love this video and my favorite is beard collie dude
I have a Beardie. I have had 5 Shetlands, previously. We love him to death, however he is very "independently minded". In other words, that is code for the fact that he is very stubborn. He is one of the hardest dogs I have ever had to train and I have trained many. I never have seen a dog that likes to "sniff and squirt" like he does. You would think that he is a Blood Hound. He is obsessed with going from one scent post to the next on a walk. He is however, very affectionate, good with kids and other dogs, however, sometimes bordering on being too exuberant. He is two years old now and is nothing but muscle and bone and has absolutely unlimited energy. I do love him though!
I think bearded collies are the best dog breed ever. I got my beardie at the age of three and loved him for the next sixteen years. He was the love of my life. Zach would kiss everybody. I can't agree with your rating on seniors. And I am a big advocate for letting these creatures live their own life and not be pestered and controlled by humans. Verdi's especially can make their own fun. If I had one wish it would be tomorrow in another beardie but sadly I'm too old. Nevertheless it has been the love of my life to have owned one of these wonderful creatures
Just so you know. The Beardie on your title page is named Precious. She was ours since she was a puppy and just passed away last November 2021. She was a great dog and despite having Addisons Disease she lived a very happy bouncy life until she was 15 years old.
Love my Panda. I adopted her in Western Spain where I live from a refuge when she was about 2yrs old. She has all the qualities stated but does like to sleep alone. I have noticed she is not keen on old short hair golden retrievers and old labridors. I call her my Bearded Beauty.
Just lost two seniors this year. First non- hunting dogs. If I weren’t so old and concerned about a young one surviving me, I would never have another breed. They are phenomenal but when they die, it’s like losing your best friend.
Bearded Collies are so lovely and fluffyyyyyyy 😍
yes, they are. But my collie'es hair is a bit dry. i wonder how to deal with it
They’re from Scotland known as a highland collie at one time I’ve had four over 30 years best dog ever need plenty of exercise if you don’t exercise them outside they’ll exercise themselves inside and your probably not going to like the end results don’t do well with aggressive owners I was asked once why don’t you ever teach them hundreds of tricks I said they’re my best friends I wouldn’t bring my best mate over and get him to lie on his back for a biscuit
We have had beardies for more than 25 years. We have had as many as 4 adult at a time and currently have a 14 year old male and a 1 year old female. They are special dogs for the right people - very affectionate but strong willed. They will run the place if you let them. They are the clowns of the dog world - they never fail to make us smile. Mine have never showed much wanderlust. They DO require grooming but 1-2 hours once a week is usually enough unless you are showing them. Do get a grooming table. It is much easier on the back (groomer's) and makes a controlled situation.
5:01 definitly we own 3 bearded collies en im from belgium we have 1 brown he is a boy en 2 black won a girl en boy
