I was exactly having this exact same problem in my laptop and also could not change the display resolution from 1024x620 and was stuck with stretched out view. I have almost done every thing in my disposal to fix it (through UA-cam videos and googling) , but was not able to until the fated encounter with your video. Did countless research but this video saved me. I was having an odd encounter. When I would start my games which are locked on 1080, on my TV which is 1360 by 768 it would go blank or say no signal. It never did this before. Not sure if an update changed it.. but it was frustrating. So I connected my pc to another tv and it seemed to work fine. Then I contacted back to my original TV(with the problem) and it was back to working normally.. for like a week. Weird. After watching this video I located my gtx1060 driver and installed it. Seemed to have work. Thank you so much. I really didn't want my solution to gaming on my tv to be switching screens all the time.. dont know why that worked.. maybe it resets the driver.. but it was weird

I have a NVDIA graphics card. I get this problem now and then and the way I fix it is to unplug the monitor frfom the tower and plug it back in using another slot (I have a Lenovo and it has two slots for the monitor). Updating the driver never helped in this situation.
