I love this; especially that light house. My brother loved light houses and the sea. He was in the process of buying one just before he unexpectedly died. "Weird" was originally written by Lubin for "THE LORETTA YOUNG SHOW" episode "Feeling No Pain" (April 1955), in which her character experiences a dream sequence while undergoing dental work. Some of Lubin's cues in various episodes of her series were used again on "ONE STEP BEYOND".

Well, no one should underrate the genius of Harry Lubin or the artistic/theatrical excellence of One Step Beyond. Weird (never knew the title) is as memorable a piece of music as the intro to Twilight Zone for anyone who first heard it as a child. In fact, One Step predates Twilight Zone. As the story goes, Rod Serling reportedly took John Newland to lunch prior to the airing of Twilight Zone just to explain that his series would be fantasy based and would not deal with the paranormal. It seems he did not want Newland to think that One Step would be ripped off. Newland, when interviewed, described Rod as a very classy individual- see the john Muir book. Any way, this music and the video are beautiful and inspirational. Used to watch One Step with my mom who 14 years ago took that step. Hope to see her again some day.

The difference between the two series was that, in "TWILIGHT ZONE", Rod Serling used his own imagination- and others, including Charles Beaumont and Richard Matheson- to create his stories. In the case of "ONE STEP BEYOND", producer Collier Young and creator/associate producer Merwin Gerard based their stories on actual supernatural and psychic phenomenal events.

@@upthedownescalator630 I must say, your comment, brightened up my already bright happy day. Please allow me to explain why. Shortly after I posted that comment my favourite person in my world, was killed in a sudden accident, without any warning no time to say goodbye or to her what She meant in her last message to me, which was on FaceBook. She was My girlfriend for 13 years - as long as You have been alive. Her last words to me were: "...So when ARE You going to quit screwing around and start following Your longtime dream and desire to make Music?" When I read her message, she was out of town visiting her Dad for the first time in many years. She was also (unknown to me at that moment already dead) We both had very similar tastes in music - food, and most anything involving art. I read her message and I took it to heart. It was just a bit of a "weird" as in where did THAT come from all of a sudden, but that was one of her quirks, as she suffered a mild and rare form of "Autism" according to a couple doctors. Which made me dangerously filled with contempt, because what They called a "Disorder" was actually one of the most unique, and endearing powers she had, and she just needed to embrace it and love herself for it. Anyway, I cannot put into words what I went through and still do, however, instead of allowing grief and loss overpower me, I accepted her challenge. I had done that BEFORE I knew what happened, and when I found out...I ended up choosing to STOP doing everything, and turn my full time attention to making Her Stupid Meaningless death at age 32 actually count. Cyan Blackflower was 'Born" and I have been learning to produce music since. I was not confident in myself before that so I was blocking myself from following my real dream. I knew Nothing about how to write, or compose, or play, nor about programming a DAW, I had almost NO money, and was in far too rough shape to work, and wanted to see nobody. Yet I found that there is an ART to transforming Adversity into Advantage, the main philosophy behind Chinese Martial arts which I was good at. I make my own "brand" of music which not many people can understand...Yet...but it is VERY powerful and from my core it is nothing less than"Spirit" sound but dance/ electronic..I just began to post it on soundcloud in Sept 2019. And here on UA-cam only a couple months ago Soundcloud is higher quality and 3 times as many tracks. It is totally free to go there and listen all you want. You do not even need to sign up. I am doing great these days because I am doing what I want. I am however, just a little disheartened that so many you people these days are listening to "pop" garbage IMO - which is not made for any reason except to get your money. ALL pop "Stars" today DO NOT even write their music and it is scientifically constructed to hook you and make You WANT something...which requires money...this is not a bad thing...IF it were BALANCED with actual depth and made fans wiser, stronger people. It Does NOT. So I put down Cyantific beats -Music for the people...I WILL succeed. I am also just getting warmed up. So please Go check it out when ever you can. Take your time. I hope it has an effect on you that is greater than the sum of it's parts and the space in between the notes & beats...where the magic is the stillness which gives meaning to and defines movement.

Some of the most well written television theme music ever. The Something Weird piece encapsulates everything that One Step Beyond was and was trying to accomplish. The second piece was used as a separate individual closing theme for the Outer Limits episode "Counterweight" that was accompanied by flashbacks of all the cast (the passengers being greeted and directed to their berths by the flight attendant). This episode of The Outer Limits would have been even more unique had the closing credits ended there. Thank you Mssrs. Lubin, Stefano and Stevens.

Thx for the post. But I'm curious where/how you got these tracks. Apart from "Weird" the other two are not on the official ONE STEP BEYOND album release! Is there another ONE STEP BEYOND album out there? Thx.
