making the dough: less than an hour
shaping and decorating: takes forever
eating: only a few minutes
yeah! how cool that the part that is the most fun to do, lasts the longest?
Yeah . that's so true. The eating will be a blink of eyes... Your comment really makes me laughing
Bc it's traditional. Japanese ppl takes tradition seriously
@@cathyrein2019 yeah i really admire how they maintain their tradition while being one of the most progressive country
Skipping the art has made people fat
Everyone talking about how quiet it is and I'm here wondering what these taste like
Some taste like subtle sweet mung bean
@@Ro-chan1 that sounds really yummy
very sweet
It's more about the looks than taste.
@@sahngseoklee6943 nah its more about le taste then le looks U-U
Not gonna lie, my heart hurt a little when they cut into them at the end after seeing all the work put into it.
Hi Tina
Oof same, if I made something like that with that much attention, that’s gonna be a family heirloom
I love your pfp
the biggest crime ever done to food. took forever to make, but only a few minutes to be eaten.
Yeah, if i'm the one who make it, i would definitely put that in a museum🤣
This is more important than everything I’m doing.
i was about to start doing my homework but i saw this- so yeah
I have exams due in the next 30 mins

These aren't just cakes, they are art!
Yeah!!
it’s not cake. it’s bean paste
@BlazeTheDoja literally says cake in title
@BlazeTheDoja also in the definition for the word cake it says “typically baked” which doesn’t mean all cakes are baked
@BlazeTheDoja not all cakes are for bday parties. Why would I bring bean cake to a bday party.
In Japan, these are called nerikiri or wagashi in general. They taste very sweet and you're supposed to eat them with matcha (green tea). As you can imagine, the sweetness of wagashi and the bitterness of matcha is a heavenly combination. As for the title, I think it's quite misleading as these are not street food, they're usually served at the tea ceremony.
as korean, I naver see these food in the street! 😅
@@user-sz7zj2we5k as a thai I can't relate...
It can't be helped because there is no originality in Korea, but recipes for sweets from all over the world are stolen and sold at food stalls in Korea.
it’s called street food because the ones being made in this video are made to be sold in the streets of Korea, not where wagashi are usually sold.
@@user-wr3os7yl5d there’s no originality anywhere in the world. everything originated from something, except for perhaps the beginning of the world. you’re being hypocritical. every country “steals” from all over the world.
This is what I imagined my Plasticine and Playdoh dishes looked like back when I was 7 in 95.
Yeah when I was a kid my mom would buy me play dough and I would make a circle out of it and what I thought looked like Ice cream and then would show it to her and she would do this wired thing with her eyes and voice like she was faking something and now I know why it looked horrible 😀
@@rubyphin1852 lmao
😂💙
Same. I'd "bake" little ugly play-doh cakes and force my mom to eat it... Think they weren't quite as tasty as these ones.
Oh man, I still remember the smell 23 years later, that stuff was great.
Same here!! My mom didn't really like the idea of constantly buying play doh for the colours, plus I was a kid and it was bound of me to let go of play doh, so she just made some dough out of flour and water HAHAHA

i just adore handcrafted desserts like these
they're just made with so much love and care, while maintaining certain rules. it's like bending a bit of reality to make things more playful :3
This is what I thought playdough might taste like when I was a kid... 😭
비유갑 ㄹㅇ
But it was just something salty asf- 😭✋
✨👏🥲
The people purposely made it salty because kids like salty foods and kids tend to eat everything they see so it's actually edible
Sugar cookie dough is a good replacement for play doh.
looks so beautiful 😍

This should be labelled ASMR it sounds soooo nice
I agree. it feels exactly like ASMR
Everyone: that cute. Looks yummy. I like it.
Me: recipe pls
They are called nerikiri, according to my research. There are a lot of different recipes online if you want to make some!
@@crisc.8458 Thank you.. I was waiting for that 😋😍😍
Even with receipe, it needs patience and practice. Just receipe will not help.

I'll just make it like mochi and eat it I'm not going to sell it 😄😄😄
@@crisc.8458 ok
These are nerikiri (or wagashi), a traditional japanese dessert. They're made with rice flour and a sweet bean paste, and you can find a lot of recipes in internet if you search by name!
In Korean it’s called hwa gua za
It looks a bit like marzipan. Is it similar tastwise?
thank you. ingredients are much more helpful than just watching with no idea what's being made.....sure wish these vids would post the ingredients....ANYONE can mak flowers and baskets. KNOWING WHAT GOES IN is the important part, but always missing...vids are useless otherwise.
Ok I'll make the dough and eat the dough, they should taste the same
Is it like mochi

화과자..이쁘긴 엄청 이쁜데 모양만큼 크게 맛있지도 않다는게 음식으로서 참 애물단지같은 녀석

I just finished watching a Japanese drama where the leads would make traditional sweets. I was astonished by the technique and beauty of each sweet and now i found this. So amazing , it’s mouthwatering 🤤
may i know what drama?
@@AjengPutriarniSyarasyalma of course, it’s called “Cursed in Love” and it was very good so i recommend it 😉
Ahhh the one where the male lead and the female lead is in pretty much hate each other bcs the female lead mother were accused murdering the male lead father and the female lead hate the male lead bcs he accused her mother murdering his father when her mother is actually innocent?
I too came here after watching that drama "Something is wrong with us"

They're all little masterpieces. I would love to taste these but they're so beautiful I would never want to mess them up ❤️
Those look too beautiful to eat, oh my gosh. I love watching these types of channels.
Lovely to see the techniques, tools and designs of these sweets. This is the confectioners art taken to a high level. They are even beautiful inside! Looks like marzipan or fondant. Indian confectioners use a mung bean paste that is similar but a lot coarser in texture, I noticed that these were sieved after kneading which would have made it very smooth. Delightful results; if feel you would probably share one of these with a friend, to take a delight in it.
Someone plz tell me how the hell these places are so quite..
