It seems as if lux aeterna had stayed inside a vault for more than 40 years as a demo tape. Lars magically found it while cleaning his old garage druing quarantine and decided to pull out a new record
@@BananaPhone502 oh no, almost 60 year old boomers can't play how they used to, what a shocker. Quit being self absorbed douchebags and come to the realization that everything has to change.

Well Lux Eterna translates to " Light Eternal " so it's maybe a nod to Hit the lights, in fact the whole concept for the album 72 seasons is based on the first 18 years of one's life so I expect it to be almost a throwback to what inspired them as kids with a modern Metallica twist. Honestly kinda feels like it might be there swan song album
@ilovemaccaroni good album fast and thrashy very diamond head influenced my favorite is a tough decision I would say either puppets or justice the production on those 2 albums were great especially justice with that crunch on the guitars I'm leaning more towards justice because of that but no doubt the 1st 5 albums are pure gold masterpieces
@doubleyouseenah9972What you are trying to say is that he will not play as fast of double bass which is most likely true. They will play it faster tho, just not the double bass lol
How is it that the instrumental fits Hit The Lights better than the original did?? EDIT: Okay I can't believe people are getting so butthurt that I have to clarify: 1: I'm NOT Talking about Production. Kill Em All production is probably the best production any Metallica album has had. 2: I'm talking about the composition of Lux Æterna fitting the melody of Hit The Lights better than the original. The specific portion I'm talking about is the pre-chorus where the chords actually match the minor 6th melody of Hit The Lights, whereas the former was primarily played on the root while the vocals shifted. 3: I still think the solo on Hit The Lights is superior to the one on the new single. Yes, it's a matter of taste and one has to be pretty dense to not realise that my comment is MY OPINION, If you disagree, then tell me what you disagree with or just shut up. All this "BOO Hit The Lights was perfect!" whining is just idiotic seagull noise from Finding Nemo.
I have to disagree. Although it does fit surprisingly well, the riff and the melody of the vocals don’t mix as well as the riff intended to be played with those vocals, same goes with the rythm
@@datmad2000 I can't tell which way OP is meaning to say, but I think this instrumental sounds better with these old vocals than the original Lux Æterna vocals. Hit the Lights itself is definitely perfect the way it is with its vocals and original instrumental. though if i have the album vocals with Mustaine's solo that would be the perfect mix.
@@aerobolt256 Basically I'm saying that the instrumental for Lux fits Hit The Lights better than the original Hit The Lights instrumental does. Particularly the pre-chorus is where the chords are different and actually match the vocal melody better than the original HTL pre-chorus. You can make an argument that the original production style for HTL on Kill Em All is still vastly superior, and I'd have to agree, as well with the fact that Kirk's solo is so much stronger there than on this new single.
Hit The Lights was one of the first (if not the first) songs Metallica wrote, so their songwriting skills were still kind of rough. If these two songs are similar enough, I guess that could explain why.
For all the people saying Eternal Light is mayhaps a throwback to Hit the LIGHTS, it is not. Metallica has said numerous times that this song is written for the Eternal Light that is their fans. "Anticipation, In domination, A sea of hearts beat as one, unified. Yes, the main riff in Lux A3terna sounds very similar to Hit the lights. Very smart because not many people would catch that, except us the ol' school real fans😁👌
alt universe: 83' James was lost in time, falling in 2022 and meeting his band almost 40 years later with whom he decided to record the retirement album.
Knew this would come out at some point
as Agent Smith said. Its inevitable 🤣
I was waiting
Practically as soon as the original dropped 😂
Yep...but it came out fast didn't it 🙂...it was that obvious
You are so smart wooow
It seems as if lux aeterna had stayed inside a vault for more than 40 years as a demo tape. Lars magically found it while cleaning his old garage druing quarantine and decided to pull out a new record
I wouldn't doubt it
Downloaded it off Napster
Lars never took part on Lux Aeterna
@@chrisnewbrough8667 this!
@@Imthat676 Why does everyone doubt that Lars played his own part? Is it just that flawless that there's no way Lars played it? Really, guys?
The speed and the young voice of James, makes it great
They kicked major ass in the 80’s. Metallica has lost their way.

Also the lyric full speed or nothing refers to motorbreath
Lux also means "sin" it's where the word Luxury comes from. clearly old Jimbo is balls deep in the occult.
I mean, half of this new song is literally hit the lights but slowed down
Could you imagine if like every song is in the style of/similar to each album they've made so far
Haha awesome! someone had to do it 🤘🤘🤘
Kill 'Em All is for me THE Metallica album, absolute classic, pure speed/heavy and early thrash at its finest.
Same for the pantera first album so great, later they are become pantera they changed the genre
@midnightblue3285 I liked power metal for early pantera it sounds a lot like early Metallica and megadeth with some judas priest thrown in
Same here!! I love kill em all

Agreed- except vocals remind me of the mashups on Garage Inc. I'm good with it
I really want to see how Lars will play this song live
EDIT: Live debut ua-cam.com/video/GfBcDP-gfLo/v-deo.html
there are 16th note quadruplets in there at like 260 bpm which is fast, even for skilled drummers lol
Y'all, watch there recent live shows, they have been very very good. James sounds crisp, and Lars has been good too. I'm not that worried
Computer -> Ableton -> Addictive drums 2. Lard clicks play
Probably with trashcan lids and a 5 gallon bucket
Yeah right he is 60 next year
This goes so hard. Should have put the "HERE WE GO!" right before the solo.
The solo sounds significantly better in the faster tempo. This is amazing
Solo has a section in it like the solo in Master Of Puppets song.

"Lux Aeterna" means "Eternal Light." So it's a pretty clear throwback.
