Othello Act 4 scene 3 Performed by IDH 1001 Honors College Students

The GAS Pod of IDH 1001 (Gerstman, Abukhodeir, Sutton) has studied Othello for past three as our second, design-oriented module. Student performance has always been central to our learning, about the play, about design, about (in)justice, race and misogyny.
the learning done in this POD is open, in terms both of access and continuation. Lessons learned through the study of Shakespeare are not just for five weeks in October of first-year, but forever, or at least for the entirety of FIU Honors College career. We invite inter-year conversations…so student actors who excel in one year might keep coming back to offer their takes to students who follow behind them.
Here, Honors students Kaitlyn Coll and Isabella Llamazares perform the “closet scene” or “Willow scene” of Othello, Act 4 scene 3. Desdemona and Emilia carve out a “room of their own” to find feminine community, prior to their tragic murders by their respective husbands in Act 5.
