Seeing mint cars from the 50's makes me go back to the era, live in a small town where everyone knows one and other and greets each other every morning in the streets.
Lou, this Buick is astounding. Just when you think that these types of finds don't any longer exist... It appears to be close to museum/concours condition. A terrific feature. Thank you.
That really is a Special Buick. Wouldn't Miss Ethel be pleased to know that her lovely car is getting so much attention 70 years later! It's a beauty, and I'm sure there are a lot of people who would love to buy it from Dennis. As always, thank you Lou, and to Dennis Doerge for allowing us to see it!
What a find, beautiful. Before I was born my mom had a 54 Roadmaster that she talked about for the rest of her life. She said it was the best car she ever drove. From 1939 she drove nothing but the big Buick. Explains why I'm a Skylark freak. Thanks Lou 👍👍😎
Amazing! This 1954 Buick Special Model looks so immaculate that it looks like it just left the dealership today! I love the pastel color combination, Tunis Blue/Artic White, together with the work on chrome parts and pieces; such as the large grille and bumpers at the front, the rocket-shaped hood ornament or the striking line that draws both fenders towards the rear; without forgetting, of course, the beautiful white-striped wheels and chrome hubcaps. A simply perfect interior, with an elegant combination of shades for the upholstery and the striking instrument panel, including the beautiful two-spoke steering wheel adorned with that shield in the middle. The collection of brochures and manuals in the trunk is fantastic, with beautiful, full-color illustrations made by true artists of its time (special mention for the original hubcap still in its box). The ride at the end was exciting, thanks also to the extraordinary view provided by its striking curved one-piece windshields. Let's hope the next lucky owner preserves it as well as the original owner did. In fact, as Mr. Doerge mentioned, if I were there and saw it in person (and of course, had about $29,500 to spare, which is unlikely, haha) I would definitely buy it! Best regards, Lou!
You are taking me back to my childhood. My Grandfather had a 54 Buick Special that he bought new. I spent many hours riding in the back seat. His was burgundy with a white top with a stick shift. He kept it until 1960 when he bought a new Rambler!
What a gem! My parents had a ‘54 Special and at the age of four, I piloted it down our driveway and into the street with parents screaming behind me down the driveway. I knew even then I wanted to drive.
Beautiful example of a 1954 Buick Special. Ah man, Dennis, please keep this one. Make room for it! It looks as if it came right off the assembly line. I especially love the grab handle on the back of the seat. A relative had a 1954 Mercury and it had that same grab rope, and we always held on to it when we drove back there. Beautiful color, sound, interior, etc.

Well, this one is going to sell fast! I love Miss Ethel's Buick. It has everything you need and nothing you don't. And it's certainly in great hands with Mr. Doerge, and all the other great cars in his collection will keep it company for the time being. Thanks for giving us a look before its gone, Lou!
Hi TheGunfighter45acp, " It has everything you need and nothing you don't." Well said. My pleasure sharing this time capsule with you. You're welcome, Lou
Hi, Lou! Well, I must say that Ethel did indeed make "the beautiful buy" as the brochure stated, and so will whoever buys it from Dennis! Ethel and her sons did well to keep this Special car so well preserved after 70 years, and I can hear the blue jays giving a shout out! As much as collectors tend to gravitate toward hardtops and convertibles, we shouldn't overlook the sedans. This Buick certainly proves that point! BTW, the 1954 Special and Century wagons were the first all-steel Buick wagons, as Buick had built the industry's last woodie wagons in '53, and they were also the first wagons to have a wraparound windshield. Thanks to you and Dennis for yet another wonderful nostalgic ride!
Beautiful original car. That design is so "Buick" in its execution. From the blue and white paint to the red wheels and mirror finish wheel covers it just reeks of taste and style. You really know how to find wonderful delights, Lou! Thanks for sharing!
Yeah Lou, WOW!! A survivor that looks like it just came off the showroom floor - and FOR SALE to top it off. I'm in awe of all the options to CHOOSE from instead of today where you have to SETTLE for something. This video shows how CUSTOMER SATISFACTION really took top priority! Thanks Lou!
That is so awesome and has to be the nicest 54 Buick in existence! Power steering was a rare option in 1954 and that blue exterior with matching interior is really nice.
My family had a 54 Special Hardtop when I was a kid.....they bought it new in San Francisco when dad was stationed at the Presidio. Tahitian Red , with Arctic White top. Beautiful car.
Lou; I've got to say you've knocked it out of the park once again! You're clearly the Bob Ross of doing classic car videos like this. And the price is priceless. Another outstanding survivor! It's amazing to think a car can last this long and still look this good, and be driven so little. I love the blue color and those dog dish hubs. I love story just as much. Great video Lou!

Beautiful Buick. I was born in 1954, remember seeing these around in late 50s, early 60s. During the drive, I can see the outstanding visibility due to the large greenhouse area. Outstanding car.
Hi John, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) nice to read you and this Buick have the same birth year. My pleasure sharing this car with you, Lou
OMG Lou, make it white over maroon and delete the power seat and that's my Dad's car through my childhood. I used to sit in his lap and steer. You triggered a ton of memories
What an extraordinary find. To think that has been in one family for so long and then they went through the process to fully restore the vehicle. Really great video with an interesting history. Thanks, Lou
Hi Lou, I had to take a few minutes to check out this wonderfully well-kept Buick. It's amazing that it logged only 27,000 miles in all its 70 years! How often do you see a car like this so new looking? The Special finally got a V-8 engine (264-cid) for 1954 (the previous year's Special still had a straight-8, while all the other Buicks moved to the 322-cid V-8). The '54 Special four-door sedan came to 70,356 units - the third most popular Buick that year. The original owner found herself a very, er, _special_ car. The overall condition of the car is incredible! Only 27,000 miles from 1954 to 2024! How many other '54s have you seen this nice, Lou? Thanks again for another wonderful video, Lou! I'll be looking for more new ones - and take the time to check out your past videos of cars which nobody sees much of today. Keep 'em coming!
Hi Know Bodies Full, "It's amazing that it logged only 27,000 miles in all its 70 years! " I agree, and you're right, you don't see many like this. "The overall condition of the car is incredible!" This is the only one I've seen like this. You're right, like being in the showroom in 1954 :-) You're welcome, Lou
Outside of the Skylark, nothing about the '54 Buick lineup knocks me over. But then I start looking at all the little details that went into this car and I'm mesmerized. Lou, you need to wear a fedora hat when you ride along in a car like this just to complete the motif! Makes you want to pull into a Texaco station and have 4 uniformed attendants come out and check your oil & tire pressures, clean your windshield, and fill up your tank with Ethyl for 24 cents per gallon. Wish I had a ride in this beauty, I love cars like this. Thanks Lou!!
Hi Tom (and JudyAnn), Ahhhh it's those little details :-) You're right, this one takes you right back to 1954. Happy to share this "time traveler" with you. You're welcome, Lou
Thanks Lou for doing reviews of cars "off the beaten path". 1954 was not a great year stylewise for Detroit, especially for a 4-door. This one is really a treasure.
I remember the TV and radio commercial jingles for 1950s Buicks: "Wouldn't you really rather have a Buick?" A very nice, solid low-budget Buick Special. Like new! The 1955 Chevrolet sedans have a similar look from a distance, and this color combination was also found on them.
My father had a 1954 Special like this except it was black. The 1954 model year was quite notable at Buick for several reason. First the styling was all new for that year, second of great significance it marked the return of the "Banker's Hot Rod" Century series and third, it was also the first year a V-8 engine was available in the Special series. Even more notable historically was the fact that sales of the 1954 Buick knocked Plymouth out of the 3rd place in sales. Thus you can see there was a great deal of factual informative material that could have been made part of this video
That Buick and I are the same age. But I got a lot more miles on me! 😂 When I was a little kid, my uncle had a ‘54 Buick Super 2-door hardtop. White top, cream yellow body. I can still see it in my mind!
Hi OldRustySteele, Glad to read you and this car share the same birth year. Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Uncles car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Wow what a beautiful car. My parents had the same car but solid blue from 1957 to 1963. My dad told me the rear arm rest was a kids seat and that was my spot. Can you imagine that today lol

My Mom & Dad had that the exact same car, color & all, before I was ever born. I've seen it in pictures, they bought a new 59 afterwards, which was the first car I ever rode in, lol.
@@loucostabile , Thank You Lou, your videos always cheer me up. By the way if you could loan me $28,000 on easy payments I could probably come up with the rest, LOL.
Wish for better shooting quality because there is a lot of vibrations and the camera moves so randomly and not only on this video but the most videos of Lou are alike ❤
SUDDENLY it's 1954! Recently elected President Dwight D. Eisenhower is America's President, and the Nation as a whole is enjoying post WWII prosperity. This vehicle is not only an amazing time capsule but also an important part of the tapestry we call Americana! Thanks to you and the owner for this time travel outing! 😊

Buick was the poor man’s Cadillac they had V8 and 120 mile speedometer had a one owner 1965 special with a V6 small compared to that vehicle really amazing find for that price . Remember farm trucks back then we’re geared low they didn’t go more then 70 mph no air conditioning so cars were designed to travel . She’s a beauty amazing a Hollywood museum wouldn’t buy that for movies . Kids will tear that car up in a week it’s a driver . Hope it finds a home dam nice anniversary gift for that price .
It has power steering but it's not in the center of the horn ring so I'm think it must have been added when the car was restored. The Skylark wire wheels were available on Buicks in 1954 as a $400 option, but not on the Special. Century on up they were available.

Incredible car with so few miles .With it being an OHV engine, It makes me wonder why the 55 Chevrolet is often touted as being the first with a mass produced OHV v8 .And of course there was the 1951 Chrysler Hemi.

One very nice exceptional car. I questioned the frame off restoration. I think it would be better as a survivor. I would like to seen it before they did it now it’s good for nothing except car shows and trailer. It back-and-forth to events cause it’s too nice❤
You know Lou? I understand she couldn’t drive anymore like so many. But., who decides to tuck cars away especially 4 dr sedans.? No one says “we should sell this” ? AMAZING
It’s a beautiful car, and with only 27,000 original miles, and being stored in a heated garage for decades, I have to question why it had a frame off restoration. Something about this car or the story is fishy.
Hi Paul, The Family knew their Mother loved the car and wanted to bring it back to what it looked like when it left the dealer. This is the result, Lou

Looks brand new. Wow
Like it just pulled out of the showroom in 1954 :-)
I remember the TV and radio commercial jingles for 1950s Buicks:
"Wouldn't you really rather have a Buick?" A very nice, solid low-budget Buick Special. Like new!
The 1955 Chevrolet sedans have a similar look from a distance, and this color combination was also found on them.
Hi Donald, Happy to read this car brings back memories of the commercials you remember :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Hi Stude289, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Fathers car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
That Buick and I are the same age. But I got a lot more miles on me! 😂
When I was a little kid, my uncle had a ‘54 Buick Super 2-door hardtop. White top, cream yellow body. I can still see it in my mind!
Hi OldRustySteele, Glad to read you and this car share the same birth year. Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Uncles car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Gorgeous Time Machine 👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this "Time Machine" :-)
Wow what a beautiful car. My parents had the same car but solid blue from 1957 to 1963. My dad told me the rear arm rest was a kids seat and that was my spot. Can you imagine that today lol

My Mom & Dad had that the exact same car, color & all, before I was ever born. I've seen it in pictures, they bought a new 59 afterwards, which was the first car I ever rode in, lol.
Hi dcm0442396, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Mom & Dads car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Looking forward to your "Super Thanks" donation.
Nice 😊
Hi Michael, Happy to read you think this car is "Nice" :-) Lou
SUDDENLY it's 1954! Recently elected President Dwight D. Eisenhower is America's President, and the Nation as a whole is enjoying post WWII prosperity. This vehicle is not only an amazing time capsule but also an important part of the tapestry we call Americana! Thanks to you and the owner for this time travel outing! 😊
Hi Jeffrey, Happy to share this "time capsule" with you :-) Thank you for viewing, sharing, and you're welcome, Lou
If I had 29 large, Wow! And I’m not into cars before my time. That extra mirror is a great plus on a 50s car. Ethel was before her time.
Hi Pat, Thanks for viewing and sharing, Lou
Wouldn't they have put 4 ornamental portholes on the side if it had a V8? Maybe it was model dependent. Love the nailhead!
I believe V8 was standard for 54. Ventiports were on the front fenders from 47-49. Then moved to the hood for a one year only 1950.
I thought a v8 would have 4 portholes per side. This car has 3.
Hi Charlie, Looks like Tom Speaks shared his answer to your question.
The top model was Roadmaster. 4 ventiports. Was produced untill early 2000's. What a beautiful car.
Gorgeous old lady!
Nice :-)
My dad had a 1956 Buick Special four-door sedan, so he would likely get a kick out of driving this car !

She’s a beauty amazing a Hollywood museum wouldn’t
buy that for movies . Kids will tear that car up in a week it’s a driver . Hope it finds a home dam nice anniversary gift for that price .
Hi William, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your 1965 Special" :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Good lord $29,500 for that perfect car is a bargain, Its not my generation of car but its spectacular ))
Hi Jensen Interceptor, Happy to read you think this car is "spectacular" :-) Lou
I definitely rather have that beautiful ride 😊
NICE!
It has power steering but it's not in the center of the horn ring so I'm think it must have been added when the car was restored. The Skylark wire wheels were available on Buicks in 1954 as a $400 option, but not on the Special. Century on up they were available.
Hi g bridgman, Thanks for viewing and sharing, Lou

Incredible car with so few miles .With it being an OHV engine, It makes me wonder why the 55 Chevrolet is often touted as being the first with a mass produced OHV v8 .And of course there was the 1951 Chrysler Hemi.
Hi Barrycuda, Happy to share this "Incredible car with so few miles' with you :-) Lou
Wow!
:-)
This car goes back to the era when people dressed up to go on planes and trains. And they behaved the way they dressed.

One very nice exceptional car. I questioned the frame off restoration. I think it would be better as a survivor. I would like to seen it before they did it now it’s good for nothing except car shows and trailer. It back-and-forth to events cause it’s too nice❤
Hi James, ....and yet, a time traveler when you get in it, right back to 1954 :-)
This Buick looks like it came off the showroom floor.
I agree.
You know Lou? I understand she couldn’t drive anymore like so many. But., who decides to tuck cars away especially 4 dr sedans.? No one says “we should sell this” ? AMAZING
Hi gene978, Happy to read "AMAZING" :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing.
When better cars are built.......
:-)
I love the ‘54 Buick but the front end always looks sad.
Thanks for viewing and sharing.

Hi Bobby, Thanks for sharing, Lou
It’s a beautiful car, and with only 27,000 original miles, and being stored in a heated garage for decades, I have to question why it had a frame off restoration. Something about this car or the story is fishy.
Hi Paul, The Family knew their Mother loved the car and wanted to bring it back to what it looked like when it left the dealer. This is the result, Lou
