Hard to watch after recently reading the salaries paid to big brutes of men to chase a flipping football around the field...! Millions! Needs to change...the skill, intelligence, musical intelligence, understanding, gifts LOVE that it takes to play this exquisite, delightful, witty, romantic, yearning, humorous, profound music are rare and unique and must be fostered and cherished...cannot be bought. They are DIVINE GIFTS. Thanks Christina Pluhar for bringing these great talents together, espec Philippe and the new "Paganini..." and the "Shawm" player...(identification of wind instrument welcome...)
To think this music was written almost 400 years ago is unreal. It sounds so fresh! Amazing performance of all. ❤
Monteverdi wrote to reflect real emotions. As did most Renaissance masters. We have gone off the rails since then.
I bet that there are not so many people watching this. But everybody come back to here it again and again... as me of course :D

Oui. Levez-vous, vous connards paresseux! I'm looking around the Internet and see that there's no French term for "standing ovation." Figures. At least Rial and Jaroussky get to give a short standing ovation to their musicians, and by bowing to them, get to stick their asses in the faces of the audience. Note how the Metzer masses scurry out at the end, probably trying to beat everyone else to the parking lot.

Teatro d'amore is already a classic and this is an amazing performance. Everyone here is a top interpreter from Pluhar to Rial to obviously Jaroussky. Monteverdi would be proud.

Sublime! I never get bored. Jaroussky is just THE VOICE for this kind of music. Of course Nuria Rial is a perfect partner, and L'Arpeggiata...awesome
I do not know (who knows?) if this is "the best" version of "Pur ti miro" by the brilliant Claudio Monteverdi .. I know, however, that Philippe Jaroussky, Nuria Rial and L'Arpeggiata / Christina Pluhar created a magical moment, one of those moments that suspend time and make us believe in eternity
One of my favourite concerts with my much loved singers at the height of their careers voices, in the meantime I got to know most of the work they produced to my utter delight. Thanks to the whole group. You have changed my life with the pleasure your music gave me.

There is something about a live performance that recordings can't touch. That human beings can make such music relying on nothing more than their own talent and honed skill is quite incredible.

absolute magic! every musician so melded to the others, and the singing.......... i was just transported to another world, PJ and N keeping eye contact all the way through they sang as one. but i remain amazed and spellbound by Philippe Jaroussky! and through find him on you tube , ii now love Christina Pluhar and L'Arpeggia.
I would like to meet every single person of those 22 347 so we could share the love for this kind of music together ;-)

This rendition is superb. This musical language is much behond every word.
The joy of music making. Later musical eras swapped joy for profundity, which answered a spiritual need. But thankfully we have rediscovered joy.

What a beautiful piece! He is wonderful. The period instruments sound so perfectly with the voices. I also like the boyish tone of the soprano. Oh the cornett, the theorbos, its magical!

Jolines, nunca me había dado la oportunidad de conocer la música de Monteverdi, siempre escuchaba que en el conservatorio los músicos mas especializados lo mencionaban, pero como yo era de Piano, nunca aprendí algo sobre Monteverdi.
¿Por qué no lo conocí antes?
