21:52 the fact that move Qa7 did not trigger the "discover attack" alarm right away but rather a "what", and only thought about the threat of queen being in same diagonal as the unprotected king, is a clear indicator that Patrick should do more puzzles about these kind of motifs.
Well doing more puzzles for fun as a side project is one thing... more like spending 30 mins on a hobby, that's ok. But the guy spends hours playing chess (check his Chess profile) and hopes to reach 2000... at the age of what, 50+? Mental elasticity isn't there anymore, native talent obviously isn't there, yes he might have passion for it but I don't see him having a legit study program (or else he would have hit 2k in almost 2 years that he's been doing this... 2k online rating in 2 years is perfectly reasonable today for a dedicated amateur). So I would say, that the fact that 2 years in the game, the fact that he is completely surprised by totally natural developments (discovered attack and basic diagonal piece lineup is one thing, but he regularly misses pawn promotions, basic development, castling sides, blocked bishops etc) is a sign that this endeavor is not for him.. sure, play chess for fun 20-30 mins a day, but anything more than that at this level is a waste of his time. But then again there are people his age playing 3 hours of video games daily, so to each his own. But his chess development shows far is pretty clear indication there is not going to be any progress unless he dramatically changes his method and starts studying with a clear tested program.
I will also add that I don't think you do the game review accurately. You always frame it like it is a horse race or something: "Oh I was winning" or "I had it here and then I lost it." A game of chess is not a race. It doesn't really matter who the engine says is "winning" in any particular position at your level because most of the time you won't understand why. So instead of worrying about whether the computer thought you were winning or not at any given point, focus on trying to get better at basics, like not moving your knight 3 times in a row and developing your pieces. That will be far more useful.
It's quite incredible that even now, despite being told literally thousands of times, you still don't develop your pieces. You spent ages on Ng5 but never once considered the obvious Be3, Rad1 and d4.
Couple notes Patrick, I also play the grand prix, or "grand prix" in this case and sometimes the attack fizzles out and you have to look for play elsewhere. Probably this was true earlier but certainly by the time you traded your knight off, he was very secure on the king side, time to think about other plans. Also during the game, and review you kept saying things like how you felt there was an attack or something there. Try your best to avoid this kind of analysis, calculation is always the first resource before rules of thumb, if you have all your pieces pointed at his king but you can't see a continuation then is there really an attack?
Hey, if you have a knight developed, why not take advantage of that and move it around for a while? And then if gets tired, you can take a little more time and trade it off. Isn't that what those 2000 guys do?
3 weaknesses. Time management Allowing opponent activity Creating own weaknesses Combine those 3 and its a recipe for failure. Start with time. Look in the analysis window and see what moves takes the most time. Work on it and bring down the times. Alternatively use a maximum of time per move. Use the engine suggestions not the coach.
You are used to trading your lsb for a knight on c6, but you might ask yourself if it makes sense to trade it for the knight on d7 and why or why not. Hint: it does not.
The problem with your position is that the stated theme of his channel is the road to 2000. Which means to be better than 95% or so of all online competitors. But when you keep violating simple principles that should be known in your first two weeks of chess, you will never get there. Eg: moving the same piece repeatedly to no effect, and failing to complete development. Making the same easily correctable errors repeatedly may be fun, but it will not get you to 1800, much less 2000. Truth.
@@chulavista5239 its a fucking board game, 2000 is a lovely goal but it doesnt actually matter if you take it so seriously, which you will, and the fun will be ruined, if he listened to all the angry bellends in the comments
Ah yes, chess detectives, my guess he forgot to hit the record button on a game he lost, lol. Too much stuff going on in his life, amazing that he is at above 1500 ELO in my humble opinion or has time to play a game every day.
You make mistakes in every opening. You’d be far better off limiting your openings and memorizing the moves and common ideas. Even if Stockfish says your moves are fine, they often aren’t. Humans don’t play perfect chess, so when Stockfish says 2 moves are equal, in practice they aren’t. For example, one line might be equal because it has only 1 drawing line that’s hard to find.
I have to say, outlook for this channel sticking around is not good. He is not showing us games, he is on a horrendous losing streak, and the joy seems to be gone a little bit. I might recommend streaming some blitz or bullet sessions for entertainment value. Change it up.
I agree. The the best way for a low 1500 player to learn and improve is to play more bullet. I would not waste time on slow games trying to understand and correct mistakes.
20:39 down 2 pawns
Patrick: "How do I convert this?"
😭
I saw that part then remembered your comment and I about died laughing. Dude was so cooked already and he was talking about converting. Lmao 😂😂😂😂

The fact that your opponent's pawn promotion took you by surprise is an indication of something.

Wow Patrick, that was a horrible ending. Gotta shake yourself out of this streak my friend.
You had a chance with Rh6, doing some puzzles may help you spot these

I know you mean well but he’s incapable of learning. He refuses to.
Or you could just develop your black bishop , and connect rooks.
But nope , i move my knigt for the third time instead.

He will never change lol.

bro is never getting 2000 lmfao
You were 1514 after 'yesterday's' defeat. Why have you skipped a game? As you started today rated 1506.
Indeed. He seems to have skipped another game (another loss). He didn't play any worse than he has been doing recently, from what I can tell.
@@Amonynous He was obviously hoping we wouldn't notice.
To be fair could be a technical glitch with filming, but if that were the case wouldn't he have said something?

Love it
Try Mozart, it'll keep you at 1500.
I would enjoy these more without the music. Just my 2 cents
Bro that’s hard to watch… you stoped developing your pieces and have plans that don’t work… sorry but with this is 2000 a far fetched dream

Hate the looping music - recommend no music or some nature sounds if u have to have something going.
What about looping videos? Let's watch this again tomorrow =D
