Cobra Kai is the single greatest continuation series that has ever been created. It is EXACTLY how all the huge franchises should have been done (Terminator, Batman, Star Wars). It stands alone at the top!
Yep. Best remake of all time.
I couldn’t agree more @OpenRoader.
I agree
for sure!!!
They should turn over ROP, Starwars and Star Trek to the people who make Cobra Kai. They get everything right.
The show is just so much fun. If William Zabka hasn't won an emmy it's a crime. Anytime Johnny meets technology it's comedy gold.
The way they had him pronounce Google had me in tears this season.
him pronouncing google goggle made me lol really hard
Bahahahahaha 🤣
I’m a 48 year old woman and I was 10 when I first watched Karate Kid 1. Today I sit with my 18 year old and we watch Cobra Kai!!! We LOVE IT!!!! We are genuinely bonding over the show!!! Thank you so much!!!! 🙏❤️
Wow, Kove is a great conversationalist. I could have listened to a couple hours of this.
he and Thomas Ian Griffith - they may play heavies and characters, but they are intellectuals IRL!
@@tomroberts2135 Absolutely big time! Love these legends!
He is such a genius with so much wisdom/experience , and Ian also is a huge intellectual and brilliant writer himself.
he is really a nice guy
Sick of the “production value”, comment every single time
Never realized how insightful, erudite, and aware he is. Great guest and interviewers
I don’t know what erudite means but I agree
@@POSITIVE_TALKS24 learned and knowledgeable
@@saber26ful Was hoping it meant eerily rude! lol
Martin Kove is an absolute legend, Cobra Kai is brilliant!
Funny story, a few years ago I got a free autograph from him. My name is Evan but he spelled it Eban
Under rated
@@SlashinatorZ 💀
I still get chills throughout The Karate Kid, no matter how many times I watch it. It's beautiful and powerful.
Not only a fantastic actor but brilliant enough to understand the new direction his character needed to take to make the reboot so amazing!!!
The 80s is back so hard.
I’m here for it.
Martin Kove is always one of the best guests and interviews...every time, he is just amazing at storytelling and has that ability to draw you in and make you smile. Great actor.
I love how hardcore and diverse the fans of this show are
I saw KK when I was 5 and was always a fan of the movie series, Cobra Kai was is like a breath of fresh air compared to most of the stuff produced today
Cobra kia the show has given the fans exactly what we wanted. Seeing the expansion of the characters has been so satisfying!
Cobra Kai, What a wake up call to life over the years and what a great series. I lost everything more then once in my life, gave up many times but seeing the cast from Cobra Kai make a comeback meant a lot in my heart and told me that I need to do the same. THANK YOU!. To see the cast make such a huge comeback. To be a huge success. I was in the army overseas when I seen the Karate Kid movie for the first time. When a biddy of mine bought a VCR and the movie. I studied Karate as a kid in the early 80s for 4 years. I only wish I kept it up. I must disagree I think this year is finally the time for Buffalo to go the distance.
It's the music and 80s montage that gives me the chills.
Martin Cove is a national treasure. Wonderful man.
Such an incredible actor. So much respect for the craft and character. Iconic. So grateful to these writers beyond words for this. Its gift for all involved honestly. It might sound over the top, but this show is one of the few that give me hope in this age!
I agree!
Cobra Kai is way better than I thought it would be. The best way to respect the canon and build upon a franchise. A masterpiece.
Great interview!! Martin Kove is a class act all the way!!!
The dude put all of himself into his role like a professional. His dedication is why the character is so genuine. It could have easily been cheezy, but we were all lucky enough that it was Kove playing the role.
It's amazing how he can recall seeing someone in 1976 and then again in 1989.
Same thing I thought. Really sharp.
A fantastic conversation between two guys. Forgot it was a radio interview. That’s how great they are.
I agree !!
Season 5 just made sensei Kreese so 3D and dynamic. “I am Cobra Kai”
Martin Kove is such a legend. Love him.
Off topic, but in an alternate universe, I can see Martin Kove playing Thanos. He actually fits imo.
Or Magneto.
I love the way he ended the bar fight story. "It's just.....what we do." Very Kreese-like.
You hate his character because he was a bully, and he is such a sweetheart of a guy and really gets it. I find that amusing.
Thank you for this excellent extended interview. 👍🏽
Damn! I forgot he was Martin Kove when he was doing those hot takes!! The man is a chameleon!
I'm a HUGE Rockford Files Fan , HUGE James Garner fan
I love the episodes when Kove is in it
Love him talking so nicely about Garner- an all time Hollywood great
GREAT INTERVIEW
The sopranos creator, David Chase wrote for the Rockford files
@@DavidM-mb1vx yes sir!!!!
I'm a gigantic Sopranos fan too
Amazing how many people from Rockford Files showed up in the Sopranos
That was a really cool interview, thanks Rich & Crew!
I like how he holds a conversation! A lot of context and he speaks eloquently that draws you in as if you were there!
Mr. Kove is such an interesting man. I'm so glad Cobra Kai brought back the Karate Kid universe so we could get to know him better.
I love the actor interviews - when they are good interviews - good mix with sports actually. Cobra Kai was so damn good.
Love that a question about his time with Stallone in Rambo: first blood part two was asked!
Sansei hasn’t aged a day. Hopefully he’s still helping rogue karate students finish wimps like Daniel-son
Mr Miyagi is going to come back from the dead and have a word with you!
13:23 - Kove understands the viewers and fanbase. The writing is what sells to the public. People love a great storytelling that's written to them. Karate Kid 1 did it the best before Cobra Kai came in and conquered all in that department *in a good way* They upgraded those movies of the past and brought the memories of those movies into a bigger light into a bigger purpose even thought 2 was okay and 3 was awful
But i hope they do the same thing with Next Karate Kid because Julie was the last student of Miyagi Do Karate and everyone is calling for Hillary to be part of this show. All these woke people in the world we want a FEMALE badass from the past to return as Julie San to go against the Korean Sensi in season 6.... Let it happen.
What a great interview. Really interesting smart man.
He seems so nice in real life! And such a good actor!
Really like how Rich lets his guests talk.
Cobra Kai is an amazing series! I love it to pieces! Adding this with the movies = a saga that will last the test of time!
Massive fan of Cobra Kai, i also love that the show makes the movies better.
I loved this man as Kreese. The best. And other movies I've seen him in, he's always my favorite 'character'.
Martin Kove is so insightful. Great to listen to him
Martin your one of the greatest actors I’ve been privileged to watch ! Love the show
He’s the total opposite of John Kreese so gentle and gracious in real life
Martin Kove plays the evil Sensei John Kreese 100% perfectly. I personally believe the writers NEED to make it so the character of "John Kreese" in the TV series called "Cobra Kai" is virtually invincible in the same way the character of "Mr. Myagi" movies called "The Karate Kid" was virtually invincible. John Kreese should be by far the most powerful character. Terry Silver should be #2.
I was the opposite when it came to watching Cobra Kai...I loved all Karate Kid movies and my son was trying to convince me to watch Cobra Kai as he's a huge fan of Karate Kid and watched Cobra Kai. I wasn't interested, at first. I knew Ralph, Billy and Kreese were in it, , but I thought it would be more like cameo appearances - like fuller house where Danny, Joey and Jesse were shown once in awhile. One day I decided to give it a try and binge watched all 3 season's and love it and been watching ever since. The writers did a fabulous job in creating a series with Cobra Kai and bringing characters back from all seasons.
What a great interview.
the Karate Kid was a life changer for me. I started Karate in 80/81 and was influenced by Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris etc. When Karate Kid came out i found what my Karate soul was looking for and it rooted me to my training. Osu!!
Oh my gosh! I love hearing Martin talk! He’s so gentle where his character his rough. He is a phenomenal actor! I hope he is offered more roles that are different from John Kreese. I love his gentle side!
awesome interview
Damn great interview! 👍👍👍
Good God that was a great interview!👍
I really love the way of respect he is paying talking about Karate Kid and Cobra Kai. even the way he pronounciate Karate.
Cobra kai season 5 episodes 7-10 was the strongest finish ever
This is so good
I met Martin about 20 years ago...very cool guy
Just watched some UA-cam clips of cobra kai, now ima binge the show. Big fan of the original movies.
Excellent Interview!
The utterly brilliant movie score is absolutely imperative to those chills we get when watching the film.
great interview
Outstanding interview ❤❤❤
I’m 23, my parents were 80s kids so I’ve been watching all 3 Karate Kid films (I will NOT count Next Karate Kid or the Jackie Chan garbage one) since I was a kid back in the 2000s. One of my favorite 80s franchises along with Back To The Future & Terminator, LOVE the show, it’s surpassed my expectations at every turn
Next Karate Kid still counts, since it’s a Miyagi story.
@@ghidrah76 nah the movie sucked. It had nothing to do with karate. It was kung fu
Martin is a great guy and actor. And his shirt is cool!
Great interview 🤩😂🤣😂🤩👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Martin Kove is such a great actor. Loved him in Cagney and Lacey.
I have this image of Stallone getting crowdsurfed out the club in his Rambo gear and it makes me smile.
Great stuff, Rich and Martin. I used to yell out "Finish them!" for Kreese's "Finish him!" line in KK1 at my niece's HS volleyball matches. LOL My brother loved it, but not so much his wife.
The 3rd reading, about Jimmy G, was great.. thanks for this
this guy doesn't have to act. he naturally sounds and talks exactly like his character. he has the face and voice of a villain.
Please have Mr. Kove back, with Ralph if possible. What an interesting interview with an awesome actor, discussing THE best sequel in history.
martin kove is a damm good actor for playing such iconic roles ie cagney & lacey rambo part ii karate kid
😂 Bronsons favorite show is Cagney and Lacy. Well I always thought that was good show too but that is great.
So much for the 2nd and 3rd predictions.
Sweep the leg. I still use that to this day whenever I can. Great line. It amazes me when someone doesn’t get it.
Martin seems like a great guy, very engaging. terrific interview.
I met him...great guy...very friendly dude
Here’s an idea: Kreese’s gal never died. She was in a bad car accident, and got amnesia, but the family hated Kreese, so they faked her death to him. In the future, she remembers him, and seeks him out, and there’s your final redemption arc.
No please no
Kreese's sergeant in Vietnam admitted to another soldier that Kreese's girlfriend hadn't died in a car crash but to tell Kreese that so Kreese would keep his mind in the war. She isn't dead and it was said in the show, some people think that Tory is Kreese's granddaughter and that Kreese's daughter is the one sick in the bed in the apartment.
@@RockLibertyWarrior uh that’s not what was said. They said not a word to him about what happened because of the mission, the only reason the captain told kresse was to break them when they were forced to fight to death
great interview Rich sweating hard
So much for the prediction about Trey Lance at 19:00, LOL.
I would like to thank @Martin Kove for his portrayal of Kreese he really hit into what it was to be a soldier and this is coming from a veteran soldier. I really like the depth that went into his character
Great Guy! Respect!
I wasn't gonna comment because I have trouble condensing what I have to say about anything..
But the very last scene in
Karate kid when Daniel shouts we did it Mr Myagi
Then it shows Mr Myagis
face, I cry still...
Great Guest! Martin Kove!
He is right I do watch it with my family. It has been great.
Great guy. Excellent in this show, just like he was in the films.
Martin, great to meet you even when delayed at Newark airport. Cobra Kai is fantastic!
When I first heard the title of the movie back in the day, without seeing any preview, I thought it was about the DC Comics character "Karate Kid" from The Legion of Superheroes comics. They're a team set in a sci fi future. At that time around the movie, in the comics, Karate Kid had been transported to, and trapped in the past, which was then modern times. I originally went to see for that reason.
I can't imagine Leonard Nimoy as John Creese.....😂
How about John Cleese as John Kreese. With an Asian accent it would make sense.
In this dojo, we do not mention the war, do we?
Martin Kove is legendary of all time
I love Cobra Kai!!!! Love all the characters!
Martin you are Awesome!!🙏🙏🥋🥋💯💯
He’s such a good sport 💯👌🏾
Strike First
Strike Hard
No Mercy
Great man and actor!
Brilliant!
I (72) am a Cobra Kai fan partly because I loved the Karate Kid so much
Great series. All five seasons.
I need to see Martin Kove in a Will Ferrell movie casted as his dad.
The show was better under UA-cam than Netflix (the writing become geared towards easy dynamics under Netflix)
The over all nostalgia factor is high and I've enjoyed watching it very much
cant believe he is 76 years old
