Still with you here young man. When you get this chance to see pups in the same litter run together that's cohesiveness. Keep up the good work with T-Bo and Ebby off spring they will keep us watching.
Keep putting the beagle on rabbit tracks by taking him/her to woods or find a beagle training pen. If the beagle doesn't show any interest after 2 months of being exposed to rabbit tracks at least 3 nights each week, then keep him/her as a pet or give him/her away as a pet. Give him/her plenty of time before you give up.
Never hunted much but I love watching and hearing your dogs hunt. Also, I grew up in Cali but was stationed at Maxwell AFB in Montgomery three years in the late 80’s and loved Alabama. How do you deal with snakes, ticks, and other hazards that can confront dogs in the woods? Also, someone once told me that all pure bred beagles have tails with white tips so they can be seen while hunting. I guess that’s a myth having seen some of your dogs.
@thomasknott You can still try to train her. I would recommend that you be very patient with her, because it may take her a few months to start running a rabbit.
Gerald Adamson you can run 1-2 dogs and still have fun. I prefer a pack of 6-10 because of the sound. It sounds good to hear a big pack running. Thanks!
Do they bark naturally when they catch a scent did you train them for that because I have one hound about nine months now when he was like seven to eight months he started barking only on fresh Agouti trail now he just got cold he's not barking do you have any tip that will help ?
They are bred to bark on scent. It's natural. Some hounds are better at it than others. The more they get to smell and bark on the scent the better they will be. If your hound does not get to bark on scent on a consistent basis, then he/she will slowly stop or rarely bark on the scent. Good luck!
John here looks spo gundog young I was AKC judge for years love it. I had Blue K and Hickory Hill blood line good jump dogs to me one of the most important thing is for a hound to jump it's own rabbit that make a good gun dog and a bag of rabbits.
I use training collars to break my beagles. If you use the collars after they start running rabbits, you should be able to break most puppies off deer before they reach 12 months old.
I normally don't sell my pups until they reach about 12 months old. However, I plan to sell a few this year if my female has a big litter (selling at 7-9 months old after all are started). Stay in touch!
Im 62 can't keep up with the dogs anymore watching your dog is pure joy...
Charlie Lewis appreciate it!

All do not have white tips, but some do. We just hope not to see any snakes and use treatment to help keep ticks off them.
Benson's Kennel Thanks for your reply...much appreciated!
I love how them black and tan looks
My hounds are 4 months old barking on rabbit scent, should I let them run with my other hounds? Will they learn that way?
@thomasknott You can still try to train her. I would recommend that you be very patient with her, because it may take her a few months to start running a rabbit.
So when you're training, do you pull them off track when you're ready to leave? Or you let them run until they're done?
I noticed that you usually have around 7 dogs when you hunt is that just your best dogs or is that the way you usually run years in packs of 7

I need some tips on breaking in my 1 year old beagle. We put him on rabbit scent and he still shows no interest. Please help.
Benson's Kennel we let him smell dead and alive rabbits. Any way he'll start chasing and barking
they are beautiful dogs I love running my beagles

Bailey Heider - the message below is for you. Thanks!
what would be the one dog breed that can hunt varmit like most importantly raccoon and rabbit Or even squirrel. Benson's kennel??
I don't know the answer to that. Most dog breeds are bred for a specific reason and some do better than others.
Does shock collars work great on 'trash' breaking beagles?
I use training collars to break my beagles. If you use the collars after they start running rabbits, you should be able to break most puppies off deer before they reach 12 months old.
John here again sorry my Kennel name was Prater Hickory K enjoy hound on the ground like a 4 pack when hunting had has many 35 to 45 dogs in my kennel
