  • This 1 hour 53 minute documentary tells the story of a mining community in the upper Dulais Valley, South Wales.
    Roger Tiley, the documentary photographer/film maker, becomes part of the community as he filmed over a one year period. The film illustrates the love and understanding that Roger has for his subjects, and how they respond to him.
    Parts of the film is sad, but mainly the film brings out the humour of the community and how they adapt to obstacles placed in-front of them.
    As Roger was filming, the end of coal mining in the area was coming to a close. He filmed the end of the open cast mine and the coal washing plant. Many from the village worked at the coal washery and open cast site. Along side the working community, he followed the players from the local rugby club, the chapel and the miners welfare hall, where many events including the country and western dances and the male voice choir.
