I'm a documentary photographer/film maker based in the South Wales Valleys, UK. I've worked as a professional in the industry since 1978, regularly working for international newspapers, magazines and television. Over the year, I've worked on numerous commissioned in the UK and abroad.
I'm very much a person who likes to get close to the people I film and photograph and it's always my goal to become accepted and part of the respective community.

'Good Evening : Elvis is Dead'
Each year during September, thousands of Elvis Presley fans flock to the small coastal town of Porthcawl in South Wales, UK.
Amongst the many Elvis acts, people dress as Elvis and enjoy a lively weekend of entertainment and beer!
This short film was made in 2021 by documentary photographer and film maker, Roger Tiley. It was the first event to be held after Covid restrictions.

The Industrial Coastline of Wales

In 2011/2012, Roger Tiley, a documentary photographer, was commissioned by the Arts Council of Wales to photograph the Welsh industrial coastline at night. A bookaccompanying the touring exhibition was produced. The book has been re printed and is available at www.2tenbooks.com

Roger Tiley, during 2014/15, revisited some of the miners he origially photographed in the South Wales valleys in the 1980s. This is a short promo of the book which was published illustrating the images he took.

Roger Tiley visited the USA during 1997 and 2002, to document coal Mining communities in Kentucky, West Virginia, Tennessee and Virginia. Coming from a coal community in the South Wales valleys, he found many similarities. The book is available from www.2tenbooks.com
