Pratik's mom is right that's y we udupi ppl put lil jaggery in sambar. Infact to whichever dish we use tamarind pulp, we use a lil jaggery. Or like his mom said pinch of sugar to even spicy dishes especially which has tomatoes or raw mango
LOL that would drive my mom insane. She HATES it when anything that isn’t actually dessert is sweet (my parents are originally from Andhra).
@@IdliAmin_TheLastKingofSambar Udupi food platter is basically satvik which includes shadrasas that are required for body. onion and garlic are not used in our authentic recipes. Andhra food predominantly uses garlic and onion so you can't imagine putting jaggery to it I guess. Jaggery doesn't go well with garlic flavor.

Biggest example of host and the team not understanding the difference between allergic and intolerance is when host is giving example of what he used to be ok with "palak pappu" ( I apologoze if the spelling is wrong for the dish). And cherry on top of the word of "intolerance" is made by Vidya "I am not intolerant to water" prior to drinking it. Guys, please stop using terminology if you dont know the right usage. Just because you are famous, it does not mean, you are smart.

To be honest, gujarati food is not just sweet. There is tremendous taste to offer. If we are going to stereotype, then this channel would be different. Also, the actress loves khandvi, which also has some sugar in it along with atta, etc, but just an actress loves it, you want khandvi.
