Based on this list, pretty appalling that Heath ledgers role as the joker was snubbed. One of the most iconic roles in any film and ultimately led to the actors suicide.
Todd is one of the most unsettling and upsetting villains I’ve ever experienced. The sheer unflappable mundanity of him as he commits such heartless acts is genuinely less tolerable to me than Anton Chigurh.
It's so f*cking cool to see the Vincent character get his flowers! Collateral was an under appreciated gem. I remember seeing the movie on DVD as a kid around '12 and was completely entranced with the portrayal. I wish Cruise would go back into his villain bag because holy sh*t that was special.
I've only ever done that when I've been too afraid of the villain. I think it's an interesting psychological insight. People throughout history, when two afraid to stand up to wrongdoers, will join them. I've done it in my nightmares and it's made me think a lot about myself and my morals.
I personally think the most terrifying villain on screen was Marlo Stansfield. As the show that dealt with murder from the very first scene, the audience was accustomed to characters being killed and understood the reasoning for murders - Stringer killed rats, Avon killed rivals, the Greek killed anybody who would cross him. Marlo killed because he could, and did it it such a way it became just as much of a part of business as selling drugs was. For a world where death was a part of life, whether characters were police, in the game or civilians, Marlo shocked them all, as well as the audience. The spawn of the devil.
The way these villains are covered is very inconsistent. When covering Anton, it goes into the psychology of the villain and why they are so intimidating. However, with Saruman, it just spends 10 minutes explaining why he wasn’t killed in the theatrical release of the trilogy and no longer goes into the villain himself. Not sure I should bother watching if I’m not getting what I thought this video was all about.
Im on the Green Goblin portion, u started the video off good until Bateman. U start to focus more on the actor rather than the character. Im tryna nerd out, not get a lesson on acting and the actor’s methods.
I don't agree that Chigur's coin was flipping the moment he stepped in the gas station. That coin didn't start flipping until the clerk SAW Chigur. Of all the innocuous things the clerk could have said, he made it a point to let Chigur know that he SEES him by giving him information that could identify Chigur and/or his vehicle. Chigur's rant is essentially him saying "you want to get involved in the lives of people outside of this exchange, eventually you're going to meet someone who doesn't want to be seen, like me" It comes back later in the film when Chigur kills the mob executive, turns to the accountant, and asks "do you see me?" If you don't look, you won't see what doesn't want to be seen. And a main theme of the film is how Ed Tom can't understand the new low standards in crime because he doesn't want to see the signs... Horrible things are happening because people don't WANT to open their eyes... Because when they do, they may end up looking at Anton (or something like him) across the counter, staring back
This was a great video. But I would've loved if you threw Hannibal from the show in, Mads Micholson was so fucking charming and terrifieng in that role.
There's something to be said about a villain that's polite in a manner and follows a set of rules and doesn't break. Things like that is the reason that the concept "the meek will inherit the world" exists.
Bro who tf are you. I mean other than a whiny baby crying over timestamps for already released videos, other than acting like a spoiled brat over free content, other than a grown man that is probably a karen in most situations. @@PhilipMcCrotch I didn't think there was anyone who didn't watch his videos in their entirety. There's so much in them, even if it's something I didn't have an interest in at first I still listen to the entire thing.
it took me 20 minutes to realize this was a compilation. Thats how droll, meaningless and empty your insights have become. You are sanitized, thoughtless, and flippant now. You even conflated Terror and Dread for the entirety of your No Country For Old Men segment and this is the content you think is good enough for your audience? We give you revenue so you can wear clothes on your back, feed yourself and your staff, keep a roof over your head. And you don't take the time to meditate on your word choice anymore. This is your job, does it really pay so much you'd rather make this worthless crap that you can't even be proud of anymore? That you don't want to do anymore? You blew up because you busted your ass not with long work hours but by creating something real from your heart to talk about things you were passionate about. Not the case any longer, you have mistaken hard work for diligence. Diligence means clocking in for a 13 hour day, hard work means you're done after 6 hours because you actually did your best instead of just doing a lot with no direction. Hard workers build businesses, diligent workers build roads.

Lee was kinda right to be mad, they kinda ruined Saruman by deleting that scene, it would have totally fit.
thank you for giving me something to listen too during night shift brotha!!!
Fantastic video. Thanks for the Christmas/ New Years gift!
The amazing thing about Plainview's final scene is while it is extremely deranged, its also hilarious.

The villains are usually the most memorable parts of the film, and I typically end up rooting for them over the hero.

Ze pequeno in City of God still scares me. Total nutcase, no regrets, no feelings in his evil acts.

Daniel Plainview is not a villain, he's an oil man you see...
He sees the worst in people. He doesn't want anyone else to succeeeeeed.

Been awhile since I have heard this narrators voice. Years, decades even?
Billy from Black Christmas. This guy...is something. Try watching it alone late at night. When the movie ends, you feel his presence in every room.
'74 or '06? I've only seen 06 and wasn't impressed or spooked.
was there a pattern of directors imagining certain actors for particular roles? I can remember two
18:30 Young Alonzo would work as an inversion of Hawk's character arc.
Chigurh had a point, if he puts the coin in his pocket and gets mixed up with others it just becomes a coin again .
well done fabian👍🏻👍🏻
The old man's decencey earned him a coin toss, that was the most Anton could due for him.
Irony would have it, denzel used the same dialect coach in Gladiator 2 as he did in Training Day. 😂
Different video narrator?
Always abide by Huelle's rules. Who is presumably still in that hideout to this day.

Your videos are like watching movies tbh
Gonna be honest, but everytime someone calls a villain scary or terrifying, or even intimidating, I get very disappointed
Why
Same. I think it's hard to scare people nowadays . I think The Shining was the last time I was scared by a movie and that was only one scene.
That's a show, not a movie, right?
I live in Texas and you’ve got plenty to see between San Antonio and El Paso you El Aso 😂
Hour and half video with zero timestamps? Hard pass. C’mon Nerdstalgic…no timestamps are for amateurs.
