I was on the fence with different bikes and you sold me on the R7. From you showing how easy it is to work on and the shear fun you are having with it, that's enough for me! Like you can hear the joy in your voice from riding it. I'm new and it will be my first bike so I'm excited.
Thanks man, i do really enjoy this bike and congrats on getting your first bike I’m excited for you!!
It's a great bike to grow into man! Ride safe and have fun!
Did you get the bike? How’s it going?
Really enjoy your R7 videos man! Top notch content. Keep 'em coming!
Thanks man…cheers!!
Good thing I hate my neighbors and go to work at 5am.
🤣
I did the exact same thing with that little screw, had to remove the exhaust to fish it out lmao. I took it off for a track day, and the second time i put it on, i put a dab of hot glue on the allen wrench/screw/lock washer to keep them all attached to each other. Worked like a charm, when i pulled the wrench out the hot glue dab came along with it as well
Haha bro that was annoying, that’s an awesome idea with the hot glue!
Great video buddy, good work and nicely explained.
The ride out afterwards was great and looks like a lot of fun.
A great landscape and the sun on the horizon gives a great atmosphere.
Ride on and have a good time
Thanks ck, cheers!!!
Should have my R7 in another 2 or so weeks and putting this same exhaust on. Unfortunately, I'm likely putting the DB in as my neighbors might make complaints if I don't. I try to be on the low-key side anyway. Usually I just grab the clutch in and coast to my place in my area but if even the idle is loud, that's not going to help lol. Thanks for the R7 content man!
Heck yea it’s such a fun bike, I liked the exhaust without but man it really still sounds good with the db in it 🤙🏼
Thanks for the video. I was considering doing this on my CBR and you sealed the deal for me. Many thanks.
Nice dude, glad the vid helped out
The trials and tribulations of working on motorcycles 😂 good to have the DB killer for different situations. I felt the same as you, in the garage I was like naw but out on the road its kinda the same but just a bit less. 🤙
😂 right I had to put it in is was just comedy 🤙🏼
I miss riding motorcycles, I used to ride quite a bit but it's been a while now.
Yea this new bike has really got me back into it
I was close to quitting for a second time. I took a 3 year break and started back earlier this year with a Ninja 400. I decided to get the R7 and it's sparked my interest again. Have my deposit down and just waiting for the dealer to get it and assemble it in another 2 weeks or so :)
Right on congrats!!!
@5:50 "Can't see crap!" - Then immediately speeds up. 🤣🤣 Kidding! Very useful vid. Debating taking the db killer out of my brand new R77 tomorrow. Convinced I'm going to drop the screw in there, 100%. 😂
Haha thanks man totally sucked dropping the bolt in. I heard a good idea the other day of loosening the bolt and running wire around it before removing it which might work but I’d still watch out for the washer or just take the pipe off from the get go…. Either way take it off it sounds way better
@ScoutsOut You know? I removed it today and OF COURSE I DROPPED IT!!! hahahaha But your idea of the magnet in the sunglass case... Flawless!! And omg, it sounds SO much better without the db killer! But not that much louder... the app on my phone showed the db level almost exactly the same at all revs. Weird. But you're right! It sounds so much better!
Yea man , deff quieter wth decibel killer in , but still sounds good. I like yosh exhaust systems, but ther not the quietest on the market. 👍
Yea I was surprised how good it still sounded, I like without better but if you needed a little less sound it still sounds fantastic!!
Thanks for sharing the moments that suck and laughing about it lol. Good video!
For sure thanks for watching much appreciated
Went on my first ride today after installing the yoshi at2, it sounds loud, but really nothing crazing like other bikes I've been on. The r7 absolutely needs a tune with that pipe tho, the decel pops it makes are insanely loud and there are at least 5 per second when off the throttle, it's awful.
Yea bro I did t like that either, I reduced the engine braking and it got ride of it but I still need a real tune
Killer channel! I started as a motovlog channel 7 years ago or so but it was never this nice! lol keep it up duuude! sub'd
Thanks man, I watched a few of your crf250l vids a while back such a small world… cheers
Bro I dropped that screw in the carbon piece of the exhaust today while I was installing mine 😂 your install video helped me out a lot!
😂 yea man that was annoying as hell lol, glad it helped out bro cheers!!
I did the same thing today
@@Squidbox_Moto lol yea much easier to just bite the bullet and take the can off
👍🏽 nice vid brotha I love that exhaust I have it on my black R7 and no DB for me lol keep up the content I’m also looking for the flush mount front signals no luck yet and the sprint screen
Thanks bro, yea I’m already pulled the dB killer back out… it may be a little loud but man it sounds good lol
Signals are here: tstindustries.com/yamaha-yzf-r7-2022/
Do you know if the kit you buy comes with the dB killer?
Yes it did
What year model? Just got my R7 so many R77 choices Awesome vid btw!
Thanks, I got mine from tst industries. It’s the only version they make for the R7 that I know of
The exhaust will break in and the tone will change
After watching your vid, I was like how hard could this be, until the bolt and washer dropped in to the carbon fiber crack like yours did. I decided to screw it and take the db killer out lol. Still haven’t been able to get the bolt and washer back out tho.
Lol yea that was annoying, gotta take off the can to get it out
@@ScoutsOut Getting the bracket on was hell for me, I might try later tho. Do you know if leaving the bolt in there is fine or nah? 😂
I won’t leave it in there lol although you might get an interesting extra sound from the exhaust. I hear you on the bracket, it’s a pain to get it on perfect. Did you flip the bolt around and put the nut on the front? That made it much easier to do
Does the DB killer actually quiet down the bike? Before I buy the whole system I just want to make sure. By the way I love your r7 series!!
Thank I really appreciate that. Yes It did quite it down
Do you have a measured before and after dB reading? I really dislike loud bikes and I would like to get an R7 and keep it stealthy as possible.
No sry man I wish I would have done that many have asked that, I’ll try and get the readings one of these days
Yamaha 👍
Yeah buddy!!!
Might as well keep the stock exhaust on if u wanna use the db killer
Yea it does quite it up quite a bit
Same thing happened to me with the rubber grommet.. so annoying lol
Lol yea man super annoying
My R77 exhaust makes an odd droning sound at higher rpms. Idk if that's the right word but it's like at the higher rpms I have no exhaust noise and only engine noise
Most twins die off at the top end, the nice sound goes away up there sadly
Did the DB killer come with the exhaust? I've ordered the exhaust but not sure if I also need to order the db killer
Yes it came with it, it is several pieces to mess with to get the sound you want
Yes it comes with it
Nice! 🤙Gonna get a different windscreen?
I’m still tossing it around, the one on the bike is the best I’ve seen stock on any bike I’ve owned but if I see one that I really like I’ll grab it up for sure
Very usefull
Thanks, happy to hear it!!
Hey man whats the weight difference between the original exhaust and this one? I just got my wife an r7 anniversary edition and the dam thing sounds like an r3…
Haha good choice I’m sure she will love it, I didn’t weight it when I swapped but I’d bet around 10lbs
@@ScoutsOut wow that’s crazy! Thanks
So what you’re saying is I should just remove the header first
No need to remove the header just the muffler, but yes
@@ScoutsOut got it. I commented before I finished the video
Is the noise level legal with the db killer? Will it be the same as the stock system?
Sadly no, the sound is still much louder than stock with the db in
@@ScoutsOut yes I got a reply from Yoshimura today. It's 10db louder
Ohh cool, good to know exactly how much louder it is
Hey scout!
When the yoshi R77 is coming from TST, is there a DP killer in? Or is it whitout? I mean i dont want it in🤣
they are in stock at TST from what I can see. but they do come with the db, I don't use it either but I do keep it around just incase I ever get to ride laguna seca... they have weird noise constraints
@@ScoutsOut exactly, i also see they are stock right now.. i am just waiting for it! Wanna ordrer 🫤 okay no problem, at least its can being taking out then, and in if needed yeah💪
Thanks bro!
Enjoy it bro
So cool !!
Thanks man, much appreciated
@@ScoutsOut 🤘😊🚴♂️
Meh... For some reason the DB killer seems to knock a lot of the bass out of the exhaust note... And you know... It is apparently... All about the bass... :D
Take it out mate... Errybody loves the full throated howl of some load ass pipes blowing through their nice quiet neighborhood... Don't they??
Seriously though... >I prefer the sound with out the DB killer! :D
Haha totally agree it’s all about dat bass!! And you lose the bass with the db for sure I already took it out, cheers bro!!!
I’ll take those OEM turn signals off your hands!
Haha cool, I’ll give I’m to ya once I replace these!!
Thanks for the video!
I would be great to know what dB levels you are hitting. Where I am there are many limits on noise levels.
Thank you I’m working on one, I’ll get it out soon
Any updates?
I honestly forgot, but I’m going to try and do that vid this weekend so should be out in a week or so
@@M.......A Scout helped us out! Thank you Scouts Out! Glad the plug held for your ride :P
I have a different bike (cbr650r) but fwiw, with db killer in, I'm at 75 db at idle, and about 110 db at 10,000 rpm. Incidentally and surprisingly, that's almost exactly the same readings as the stock exhaust.
Hi, where did you get that db killer?. I just installed a Yoshimura full system R77 series into my KTM Duke 390 2021 but it sounds really loud and annoying so I'm looking for a way to get it smoother. Any info about where I can buy that db, would be appreciated. I'm from Guatemala by the way but I could bring it over here, thanks in advance.
Hey frank, mine came with the db killer
@@ScoutsOut well, I will find out if I can use an universal one then, thanks for replying.
Did u end up finding out? I have the same problem
That sucks, I wonder why they aren’t coming with them
@@ScoutsOut I got mine used so that’s why’s it didn’t come with. I called Yoshimura and they sold me the correct piece for $35.
Did you flash tune the esc?
Not yet, I’m planning on it though
Hello my friend, I am writing to you from Turkey. i am using R7 and i need an exhaust system. How can I distinguish the original yoshimura r77 from others? There are replicas on the market. How to understand the original exhaust? I'll be glad, if you help me.
Good question, I’m not sure. I would buy from a reputable business, hope this helps
thanks my friend, have a nice ride 🏍️💨
Did the Db killer come with the exhaust or did you purchase it separately? If separate can you post a link to it please?
I t came with the exhaust
I have the same and I face the same issue with the screw in z250 Kawasaki r77 . I wrap a wire around the screw and then I screw it and its always there ready t go I just hold the wire that is around the screw and I unscrew it with easy. check also my videos for sound test and hp gains in my bike .great sound but loud without db killer ...
Nice dude, great idea! I’ll check it out thanks
That DB killer have washer ?
It has a spiked crush washer
@@ScoutsOut noted
Did the exhaust come with the DB killer?
Yes it did
@@ScoutsOut Thanks for the reply. My Yosh R-77 came in today. Install this weekend with DB Killer. Stay safe.
Nice dude congrats, such a huge difference
Db killer, where to get this actual part?
The Db killer comes with the yoshimura, it doesn’t come with all aftermarket exhausts though, some you have to buy separate
Hey man! Did you ever end up getting a dyno tune after putting on the exhaust? If so, how long did you wait? Did you notice anything sketchy before getting it tuned? My full exhaust is in the mail, but a full tune on this bike is costing quite a bit. Judging if I should wait until I can afford a tune, before installing the exhaust. Thanks man!
I haven’t gotten it tuned yet and I’ll tvruns great without the tune imo. I will be installing the air filter this weekend and getting the tune in the next few weeks through BPR and it’s only $250. I wouldn’t worry about the exhaust I natal damaging the bike
@@ScoutsOut $250?? Wow! I gotta find that! Because I’m getting quoted like $850 after the flash hardware and tuning and labor. Basically $650 before labor. Is the tuning you’re looking at fuel mixture specifically, or a big overhaul of the bike (rpms, power, etc.)? Thanks again for the content and reply.
Yea I’m excited about the tune. I took the r7 to the track for a trackday last weekend and met Bruce prince a racer from MotoAmerica who also owns a shop that specializes in yamaha and built r7s for the new twins cup in MotoAmerica. He said he already has the tubes for most intake and exhaust setups. It’s a mail in your ecu they flash and mail back for $250 I’m sure tax and some shipping to but it’s fairly close to where I live so I’m going to drive there and make a day out of it
@@ScoutsOut that’s awesome man! Will you be making a video for it afterwards? I’d be interested and seeing your take on it. Also, how do I get ahold of him myself 😂😂
Yea if he will let me record I will try and at least get a few clips, you can look up Brice prince racing
Like 64 buddy love the details explained lovely drive too wishing you and family a happy new year 🎉
Thanks Fran… happy new year!!!
Have any advice for removing the DB killer? I don’t want to deal with the headache of dropping bolts and pieces inside.
Easiest way to not drop bolts in there is to take the muffler off
Any chance you a have a video of removing the muffler?
No I don’t, but this is the install vid. You could use it to see how to install it and then remove it. It’s not to hard it’s the bracket on the muffler and two springs then you can pull it off ua-cam.com/video/XACbDHJQTPQ/v-deo.html
Taking off the muffler today. Managed to get the springs and the bolt off. Muffler has giving me trouble to pull off lol. Not sure if I’m doing it wrong. I can spin it but can’t slip it off.
Update: managed to take out the DB killer, screw, and washer while muffler still on. Sadly, the plug is the only thing I was unable to find. It fell in much like yours in the video. Still didn’t see anything fly out. :/
With db-Killer legal in Germany 2022? Euro 4 or 5?
Not sure man, I know euro is really strict I wouldn’t think so
@@ScoutsOut I hate german laws :( 😂
Haha yup I’m pretty sure I still owe for a ticket over there I need to pay 😂
Can i have the link to buy the product ?
Exhaust is from TST industries
tstindustries.com/yoshimura-race-series-r-77-works-finish-full-exhaust-system-yamaha-fz-07-mt-07-xsr700.html
Thanks for the answer but what about the DB killer ?
Ohh, it comes with the exhaust
Oh noooooo!!!!!!
Yea dude that sucked
Sorry but it sounds crap like a motocross bike … definetly puts the bike in a low stage
This is simply very poor design, and you have to pay a lot for it 😆
😂 right, that totally sucked
@@ScoutsOut well, the sound is great though
Db killer 🤮
Haha yea I didn’t like it either
