Komponiert von Gottfried Piefke nach Motiven aus der Oper Faust (Margarethe) von Charles Gounod.
Auf dem Lebuser Manöverfeld soll Gottfried Piefke die Idee gekommen sein, aus Motiven der Oper „Faust“ von Charles Gounod einen schwungvollen Marsch zu komponieren. Hierzu wählte er zwei markante Themen aus: den Walzer und für das Trio den Soldatenchor. Unverständlicherweise hat die Bundeswehr gerade dieses Werk Piefkes nicht in ihre Marschbücher übernommen, so dass die verlegerische Arbeit Siegfried Rundels, den „Margarethenmarsch“ in einer neuen Ausgabe interessierten Orchestern verfügbar zu machen, als besonderes Verdienst herauszustellen ist.
Ich habe diese Version für Ihren weiteren Genuss erweitert!

On the Lebuser Army field, Gottfried Piefke is said to have had the idea of composing a lively march based on motifs from the opera "Faust" by Charles Gounod. To this end, he selected two striking themes: the waltz and, for the trio, the soldiers' choir. Incomprehensibly, the Bundeswehr did not include this work by Piefke in their marching books, so that Siegfried Rundel's publishing work, making the “Margarethenmarsch” available to interested orchestras in a new edition, is to be highlighted as a particular merit.

I made comment 4months ago (see below) now after playing this while exercising only one word to describe this version it is LOVE LOVE LOVE/ this piece is beautiful as are the marches of those proud noble Teutonic Germanic young men full of patriotic love for their righious heritage this is not music of HATE but this is music of LOVE

@@deutschemarschlieder3144 , Ja, glücklicherweise haben nicht nur das Heer sondern auch die Marine und die Luftwaffe mit der Tradition von Disziplin und Pflichterfüllung (nicht nur die Uniform, Märsche und der Paradestil) weitergemacht. Das ist gültig sogar für die Marine, die eine britische Inspiration hat.
Alle Leute der Wehrkräfte sind auf diesre Tradition stolz.

Seems to be a mixture of pre war Germany and the the GDR.
When you first come to Germany and see the modern towns and the old villages, all charmant, you may have some trouble imagine a German army. And yet, you finally realize, the Germans have always been trying...to do their best !!

@@Marco-bf4uu The best you say when Germany lost both world wars? In WW2 its military lost on land, sea, and air. Losers can only be, at best, second best by definition. The Germans parade nice and their music is nice, but they fight poorly even if with iron discipline. Cornered rats, like most animals, fight bravely when cornered and this is commonplace knowledge.

This was the melody of the loosers of WW I and II! Most of them died in the war. And a lot of them were serverly wounded for ever. Only the high ranking officers, generals als fieldmarchall survived without any wounds and got very rich!
