Chris’ mind is a fascinating place. Part serious medical professional, part mad inventor…and a whole lot of class clown. He is one of the best distractions around…and we Americans are certainly eager for a good distraction these days…
It almost looked like a finger with a very long tongue sticking out of it. It definitely tricked an instinctive feeling of “Step back from that weird thing, i don’t know if it’s safe” 😄
"If you want to know if your echidna is Arthur or Martha." That only rhymes in certain locales. There's no confusion with the gender of that cutie Kylie.
@eph2vv89only1way they are Amazing little things. They have short hairs to keep them warm, and their spines(quills) are also hair, they just grow differently.
Albinism will be passed as a recessive gene, & future offspring could be albino, if the female has an albino parent/ grandparent. Look up "Punnet Square" to learn more.
Albinism is recessive, so if his partner isn't albino their offspring is VERY unlikely to be albino. The gene would still be present in the offspring, but it likely wouldn't effect them
There is a worry, but they are hoping for albino offspring because they are an animal park and it would draw tourists. It would not be good for the species or the albino offspring, but they don't GAF about that.
@@RealFarknMcCoyOh really? Tell me in what way would albinism be “bad” for and animal in captivity? You know, where there are humans who are employed just to take care of it?
It is a condition you wouldn't want to pass on - unless you're running a tourism-based animal park and want albino offspring to draw in tourists (like Symbio).
These animals have a small enough population that they're going to want to keep all of the genetic diversity and even with something like this present and there is unfortunately no getting around the fact that people find color mutants fascinating and thus having color mutants in captivity can benefit a species simply by bringing more people in to look at and learn about the species. I am not a fan of allowing albinism to proliferate for the sake of the health of the individual animals involved, but I cannot deny the educational benefits that they bring. I just asked that people who are producing these animals and sure those that take them on and that they themselves provide adequate sun protection.
@darcieclements4880 - I am not a breeder but I do have show dogs and understand about choosing to breed less than perfect specimins. I have smooth collies. I have a beautiful girl with perfect healthy eyes. This is a rarity. However, she has a minor physical traits that people find displeasing. Its a tiny hook at the end of her tail. She has numerous obedience and rally titles but does not have a championship. I had a cousin of hers for 15 years. She was blind due to a disease called CEA. She lost her eyesight at 11 months. Her parents had an eye check grade of Go Normal. Had they wanted to, I would have let them have a litter from my rare normal eyed girl, but the crook in the tail is more important than the fact she has genetically perfect eyes. It makes no sense.
@RealFarknMcCoy why is that? They have been studied scientifically for a long time. DNA gender testing is available for the short-beaked variety at $50-$75. fee. with a 10 day turnaround.
I love how they blur it out to preserve the echidna's modesty...
Sanity. Echidnas have Lovecraftian junk.
Leo looks like a spiky tiny pillow pet

We're so glad to hear you're enjoying our clips. Is this your favourite aussie animal?
JESUS SAVES.
We don't need distractions.
We need JESUS.
They’re… like …. They are like spiky beanbags. 😍
These two beautiful little baby's are the most adorable little ones i have ever seen . Think you for caring for this beautiful little ones 💕 💗
Thank you for your kind words! Would you volunteer to hug this little one?
@BondiVet sure
I love they way they blurrred the ecnidna's unit.
Dr Chris is an awesome vet and also coming up with ideas
Out of the box ideas
Like the Macgyver of Vets!!!
We think so too! Isn't little Leo so cute?
I didn't even know there was such a beautiful animal. I love this channel ❤❤❤
What do you think about them now that you've met one?
Hello Bondi vet I am your number 1 subscriber love the video much love from Africa❤
Dr. Chris is fantastic vet.
Echidna is strange animals but is beautifull and sweet little souls ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
So cool! The bits poking out is the crate was a little creepy tho, lol.
It almost looked like a finger with a very long tongue sticking out of it. It definitely tricked an instinctive feeling of “Step back from that weird thing, i don’t know if it’s safe” 😄
Why? It’s just the babies nose that claws
Leo is a boy 😂 and Dr. Chris is our hero, he is amazing in every way ❤
And a hunk…and I am elderly!
Such a splendid creature. I will take 12.
Knuckles relatives are so cool lol
Are those quills sharp?
Yes. Its how they keep themselves safe from predators
They can’t just take a blood sample and sequence the DNA like they do with parrots?
That's an expensive process, isn't it?
That little high five ! 😍
Awesome!! Thank you so much, I love this educational video 😊👏👍❤🐈💃🏽
WOW! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💖💖❤️💓💕💞🥰💘💝💗💐
Amazing 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
❤❤❤ adorable
"WILLY NILLY" Hahaha
I apologize for this comment, I am american and what I first heard at 3:58 made me rewind, did anyone else hear it the way I did?
I think he meant "arsenal" lol

New word of the day - puggle !!!
I wonder if it would be feasible to avoid anesthetic by taking a genetic sample from a quill or somewhere and seeing them through DNA?
They can and only need hairs.
@justkerry173 I didn't know they have hairs. But I am not exactly an expert
@eph2vv89only1way they are Amazing little things. They have short hairs to keep them warm, and their spines(quills) are also hair, they just grow differently.
I’d assume that would be less cost effective and would probably take weeks or months to get an answer
@justkerry173 cool
So no worries of passing the albinism to the offspring? I flunked genetics 😂

Albinism is recessive, so if his partner isn't albino their offspring is VERY unlikely to be albino. The gene would still be present in the offspring, but it likely wouldn't effect them
Both parents have to carry the gene and pass it down at the same time for an albino to be born.

I wish Chris could be my dog's vet.
And Leo wakes up thinking he may have been SA 😂
So cool
Vet, Surfer and Macgyver
I saw something sticking outta there when you first started it was a sticking out 😂
That was his tongue.
4. . . .
They are so so cute I really want two of them as pets . If you buy them.❤❤❤❤
No Australian marsupials are legal to have as pets. Only a few birds. Need a special licence for any reptiles.
Wild animals are bad pets
2:24
Wait until the breeding season and see if Leo develops a pseudo pouch? 2:45
Whether s/he is fe/male, still call her or him Leo.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏
The Tick is vet now, feeling old yet?
Why not just DNA test it?
Dumb question maybe, but male or female, why breed an albino animal? Isnt that a genetic condition that you wouldn't want to pass on
It’s only prevalent if both parents have the gene.
@Mejlynne - awesome thank you.

i hate to be 'that guy' ....but coudn't you have taken a DNA sample as looked for XX or XY if identifying gender it that much of a problem
Testing for chromosomes costs a lot of money, so it's easier to just do a physical test because they already have the tools for it
Chromosomes aren't as good to know for a gender as looking physically. You can have male chromosomes and develop as a female...thats not rare
It's unethical and irresponsible to attempt to breed an albino echidna.
No. Because you need both parents to have the gene to get an albino. So, it can breed despite being an albino
It's a solid bet that Symbio are trying to breed MORE albinos, since it would be a huge tourist draw.
@@RealFarknMcCoy you literally can't do that. So, just don't bet
@@kunokoaeri3505 You can do that. How do you think albino domestic animals are bred??
@@RealFarknMcCoy Told you you need both genes. You don't even know with which partner they r breed...
Thank you Romans 10:9-14❤
Why aren't they just DNA tested for gender?
Because it's expensive and it takes a very long time.
