With its more spacious cabin, refined driving dynamics, distinctive styling, and class leading fuel-efficiency, the 2015 Nissan Rogue looks to take the sales crown in a segment crowded with a lot of good choices. Buyers who care about all those points should look no further, however those of you in search of more power should check out the turbocharged competition.

I've also purchased a 2015 SL AWD. The AWD system is a bit of a mystery to me, but other than that, I love the vehicle. The hill assist is great, the power hatch is extremely convenient, and the room/space is a huge plus. The aggressive front styling and attractive wheels were an aesthetic plus as well. Interior design comes together well and the Bose sound system is pretty darn good. I love the huge moonroof. The heated seats work very well and the plethora of safety features...another plus. My favorite feature is the backup camera with 360 view. I can press the camera button and see a front view and side view, very cool. My first thought when driving it was, it drives like a car and it had a good turning radius. Smooth brakes too. I was actually in the market for a pick up truck but decided there's plenty of room to accommodate my lifestyle with my brand new 2015 Nissan Rouge SL AWD. I would like to hear feedback on the AWD system....
This guy has the best reviews at least for me. I never buy a car without looking up his reviews. He notices the features that I do and ditto on peaves. I also appreciate that he reviews based on what he thinks the typical buyer for a particular vehicle will want. Obviously he has a bias for sportier cars but who doesn't! and he is honest about it! Most other reviewers are either rahrah types or clods with preformed opinions or who worry about an extra cupholder. Well done please keep it up!
I just bought a left over 2015 Rogue SL and I absolutely LOVE IT. I traded a scion TC and only have had 2 door cars in the past and I am so happy I went SUV and even more happier I went with the Nissan Rogue. Its a beautiful smooth ride, awesome features and looks great. I checked out every SUV and by far this was the BEST.
I recently bought a rogue and it's awesome! The cvt is really smooth, it's not suppose to propel you forward like a missile since it's an economy car but it has a nice smooth power delivery.
+Manny Luna If I had a car full of people, I don't think I would want to forget what kind of car I'm driving. Even in a sports car, you should be careful. But you should be extra responsible if you have a car full of people. As you said, it's not suppose to propel you forward like a missile.
I have a nissan sigue 2015.. and it has a problem. May be you.guys. May tell me whats Going.on when the car gets. Warms Up. The trasmition reduce very slow..the car ir looks like.is se drawning..
I've been researching and test driving compact SUVs for the past month. This vehicle tops my list with regard to aesthetics and safety features. I'm still torn between the CR-V and Rogue. (Love the Cherokee, but worried about reliability). Thank you for the detailed reviews, they are by far the most informative on youtube.
+Adam Curtis I am in the same boat as you. I have researched the Cherokee and have found many transmission issues. I am sad because it is my preferred option. Which vehicle did you go with?
I've watched your videos for years. They just keep getting better and better. Keep it up Sofyan!
I just bought a 2015 Rogue SL last month and I absolutely love it. yes I wish the engine was a little more powerful but I came from a gas hungry 2005 ford escape so I love the fuel economy and the drive is very pleasant. I love the cargo option and the upscale feel of the car. the moon roof looks great. overall I give this car 4 out of 5 star only because a more powerful engine would be nice.
Bapu surt singh
how is it on the highway or long car rides such as 3 -5 hours
Tejinder Sidhu to the
vito libido sorry I never saw your comment the Rogue is great 9n long ride we took a road trip up Vancouver Island and it was very comfortable and the fuel.economy is great
How's the CVT?
Been waiting for this car review
MEEEEE tooo!!
Damn, did he design this vehicle. He seems to have a lot of information about this car packed in his head and he's on point. I have the 2014 version of this car.
You FINALLY did this one!! Yay. I think my car got a passing score....awesome!
A 2.0 liter turbo engine will easily make the Rogue my favorite car in the class. Personally, I can deal with the CVT as long as it provides great fuel economy.
ottmar montes that's it's only job lol. The CVT mimics the gear ratio of a traditional automatic transmission but in reality it's variably continuous so it only goes into the correct gear depending on the driving dynamics.
I like how you're starting to emphasize why the vehicle was built.
Just got the red SL 2015! I love it.
Hi. I'm considering buying one 2015 SL AWD, 110,000 km driven for $CAD 15,500. Is that a good price and does it drive well on snow ? Thank you.
I see so many of these on the road lately. I like the daytime running lights. Makes for great road presence. I'm an Audi fan, but this is nice.
I am Audi fan too man
😂 me too I want another one so bad but with the cost of living I need a gas saver
Incredibly polished auto reviewer. Great--thank you!
I'm really wondering if I missed something ?? I've been researching most SUV's in the Nissan Rogue class for the past couple of months.
Three vehicles would fit our needs, Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, Ford Escape Titanium and the Nissan Rogue SL Premium. There are certainly differences, the first one which is big is the longer warranty from Hyundai but we have excluded the Hyundai from our choices.
So down to Ford or Nissan, I drove them both, the Escape had a bit more zoom than the Nissan. Technology wise both had excellent features especially safety features, comfort ,, I have a minor lower back issue and no question the Nissan was better by far in that area, nice job Nissan.
Interior finish, the Nissan had a much nicer finish I thought it was very classy indeed.
Driving needs, there is quite a bit of criticism regarding the CVT in the Nissan, didn't bother me in the slightest. Both the ford and Nissan would certainly full fill all our transportation needs.
This is what makes me think I missed something, the price, allowing $ 15000 as a trade in allowance on both vehicles it's of course the price difference that is the only concern.
2015 Nissan Rogue SL Premium Package, bumper protector, wind deflector, hood protector, price difference $ 22,333.00 ( Can. ). Ford Escape Titanium with Technology Package price difference $ 31,748.00 ?? not a chance the Escape is worth almost $ 9500.00 more than the Rogue ,, not a chance at all. Anyway that's my 2 cents worth. My wife and I just ordered a 2015 Rogue SL Premium, red metallic, it's all loaded up and we shall pick it up next week.
munnjean You made a great choice. Ford is junk and It wouldn't even be in my list
I'm just wondering if there`s a huge differences between awd and fwd of this rogue for non off road users.
If you drive in winter weather condition climates I highly recommend it. Front wheel drive only good for driving in non winter weather areas, like Florida or so.
Yes exactly!
munnjean Get a Toyota Rav4 is your willing to spend about 2k more. It will outlast both those compacts
Was I the only one who thought that Ford was about to hit him (11:35). Great video!!!
That key is Nissans standard proximity FOB. They're the only ones who use it. They might never replace it. Still in use today for any push button start vehicles XD
Although cvt's are beneficial to fuel economy, regular transmissions are much better performance wise. They also produce a sporty sound since Nissan wants this car to be fun to drive. The problem is that cvt's are just simply not fun to drive.
Great review man.. great vehicle as well. Nissans are the best!
My mom just brought the SL with all the bells and whistles and she loves it. She is baby boomer. I love it too, but I think I will get the altima coupe. I don't know much about the CTVs as I still drive a V6 04 seabring from college.
I've had my Rogue now for about 30 days. I am doing about 24 mpg, but I'm doing city driving mostly. Regarding the cvt (transmission) I drove a 2013 and it was much different. The 2015 is not nearly as bad as the 2013 but you can still tell that its a cvt. No complaints about the vehicle I'm happy with it and it provides me with enough room, good gas millage and is comfortable. Regarding the engine power I find that it is plenty for me, it might be sluggish with 4 passengers and luggage, but right now it is more than enough. Good vehicle, I highly recommend it.
Would you still recommend it ? Do you still own this vehicle ? Have you had any issues ?
Initially I had some problems with the CVT, the engine would lose power going uphill. I took it in to the dealer and they downloaded software for the transmission and I haven't had any problems with it since. I just had my 30 K inspection and maintenance done, the airbag warning light came on and there was something small wrong with it but was fixed for no fee because it was a "factory defect." My right break tire pressure wouldn't register and that cost me about $100 to fix. Everything else has been basic stuff oil changes, tire rotation and that type of thing. No problems with the car it runs great. Great car for around town, comfortable, reliable, you go plenty of room and can lower the back seats if necessary. I would recommend it.
Just got the 2016 SV and loving it.
I've been researching compact SUV's aka CUV's for a good month and a half and I must sat your review was the most insightful. Your comparison of why and who would buy the Rogue (aka X-Trail) vs. the Ford Escape and Mazda CX5, making up my current delima of the three contenders, is right on the buzzer and really put matters into context.
With all choices being good choices, safe, spacious and advance - technologically speaking (bells and whistles).
But I have two questions; With Ford Escape we buy the car that tickles the driver | Mazda CX 5 we buy the car that meets both the driver and the passengers (aka family) half way | with Honda CRV we are clearly putting the passengers first and what I consider a Driver's suicide... But...
Q1: Where does the Nissan XTrail fit?
Q2: Which car interior deteriorates | falls apart | breaks down quicker? Most would answer it depends on you - but i believe there are cars that are tightly built (i.e Tiguan / German) and there are cars that frankly feel badly fit (i.e. Terrain / Hard plastic). Between CX5, XTrail and Escape I just can't point it out...
Q3) CVT is like walking with numb legs - but sometimes walking with numb legs has its moments :) But how risky are CVT gears? We know 6 speed automatics. Almost all garages know standard automatic. DCG gears are well known... etc.. etc... What risks does a CVT engine add to the post buying mix of things?
Thanks
I have a 2008 nissan rogue and the CVT doesn't really bother me at all. I have about 80k miles on it and the CVT hasn't caused any added risk -- although the new rogue is a newer version of the CVT. Also the fit and finish is good, and the interior plastics still fit well with just a front window sunshade used over the years. I personally would like to get a second generation rogue in the future, based on this first one. It has tons of utility, but maybe limited on space. The new one with it's added room yet increased gas mileage would just be a bonus!
Thanks! You sold me on this SUV! Very informative and helpful!
Hey you're from Maryland, that's wussup bro, im actually in the market for the new rogue, oh and im definitely subscribing
This still best used Nissan Rogue I can buy.
My favorite part is all the quick hand gestures while he describes the center stack and hard touch and soft touch. lol
I'm heavily considering the purchase of a 2015 Rogue SV. My intention is to use my new vehicle to travel across the United States -- especially through mountainous areas like the Appalachian Mountains and higher elevations out west. I've test driven the Rogue already and was impressed with the "get-up-and-go" factor. In your expert opinion, would the Rogue be sufficient for higher/steep elevation driving? I believe it would, but I am eager to hear your opinion. Thanks for a comprehensive video!
Great review as always. I'd like to see your review of 2015 370z Nismo!
My mom is buying a rouge in a few months. Gotta show her this video
To get something straight, people who buy in these type of segments do not know the difference between an automatic and a cvt transmission. Why? Because they are not looking into that but into comfort, safety, and fuel econmy. They also look for nice exterior styling in which NIssan is providing. I have also done my fair shares with an accord 6 spd maual and auto. Not that pleasant. CVTs offer a faster acceleration because of its no gears. As well it inceases fuel econmy. Not only that but they are actally very reliable and easy to care for. so please, just regard your comments of it not being an automatic and not being faster because we as consumers who buy in this segement do not care for it.
Why should they appeal to the driving enthusiast when this and along with every other car in the class is not an enthusiast's car...?
Making no sense. The fact that the HP is competive and ample and the best fuel economy in the class, at an incredible value, you're going to hardly have anybody that cares.
I suggest you review cars strictly with the target consumer in mind.
Other than that, great review.
kdu8004 probably for the enthusiasts that have kids and need an SUV. Mazda appeals to enthusiasts with handling and looks; if Nissan (and other competitors) wants to be competitive in that market they should do the same
what's the point of being a driving ethusaist.. you're either gonna get pulled over or get into an accident. I just wanna know if this car will take me to and from work for the next 10 years
+vito libido most importantly, if this car is gonna do it with max comfort!
+vito libido just as you prefer better quality movies over shit movies, we prefer better quality cars.
Whats the point of a movie critic if every movie will consume 1 to 2 hours of time and 'entertain' you?
lol see what i mean.
To Each his own i guess.
Deciding between this and cx 5. This had a marginal front passenger safety score but slightly more room and better fuel economy. Cx 5 suffers slightly worse fuel economy but all top safety scores, more speed and tighter suspension. I’d probably go with the rogue for my purposes but knowingly buying something with marginal safety scores is a problem for me, heaven forbid you’re in a crash and a family or friend dies and you knew from the moment you bought the car it had a safety flaw. Too hard on the conscience for me. Anyone else’s thoughts are welcome.
I bought one, it's the best car
The CVT is scary and worry some, lack of mid range acceleration, why Nissan does not bother to relocate the gas filler left side
We are please with our 2015 Sl and find it a great buy. The economy is great (27-28) combined, along with the ride, handling and comfort of the car. There are a few problems we have experienced. The head restraints do not adjust forwards so if you like driving up and forward like my wife does, it hits her in the back of the head. We rotated it 180 degrees and it's fine for her but it will not protect me in the event of a accident. We were told by the dealer that "they are adjustable" and unlike our other car they DO NOT! We were also told that the car is equipped with remote start and that also was untrue. The controls and switches on the lower left side of the dash are awkward and could have been better located. It's too easy to open the hood when trying to open the fuel door (way below eyesight). Overall there is a lot of features included in this 2015 Nissan Rogue SL and we would buy it again.
+konaok1 I had the dealer throw in a remote start and fog lights on my SL with nav. Traded in a 2013 Cruz. It's nice to step into a car, instead of crawl out of it...
"You look very old" - From the key fob.
I rented a 14 Altima. I could NOT stand the CVT. Awful. The electric power steering was so numb it feels like driving a golf cart. Back to my 05 TSX it felt so much better.
***** conventional automatics are extremely limited when it comes to efficiency. CVT's and Dual Clutch's are much better, but CVT is the best bet. It knows exactly where to hold the engine to keep the power and where it can be the most efficient. If you don't like the sound of the engine, well thats too damn bad.
Sergio Lopez, I get 26 city and 35 hwy I do 8 hrs of city driving 5 days a week in San Francisco, I again get avg 26.7 car is great with gas also it depends if your wife is accelerating really hard. Overall I would give this car 10/10 I love my rogue mine is SV with 3rd row and premium package
Went and test drove the 2015 Rouge SL awd, Engine/CVTran noise is loud. Test Drove the 2015 Murano SL AWD, The CVT/engine noise is waaay quiter.
the engine noise in cabin is very loud when accelerating where's the ear plugs
I love the unique looks and the nice interior, seems great but the cvt is stoping me
Really nice video, very helpful review.
Thank you
Are you able to do a full size Transit as you next review?
Why are halogen headlamps even offered still? Just go standard xenon or led.
Today I just went to the SD auto show and I saw all compact crossovers and test drove some of them. my top 5 are when it came for best bang for the buck was
1.)Mazda cx5
2.)Nissan Rogue
4.)Toyota Rav4
5.) hyundai tucson.
The Tuson has the best exterior looks, period! best warranty, but inside even on limited did not feel premium. worst looking was the crv and rogue. best driving and fun was the mazda.
where is 3?
+yadvinder gakhal probably the crv
2016 Mitsubishi outlander is by far better than all you listed , then Mazda cx5 , Nissan Rogue ,
cima 1221 haha are you a bucket? That's a different class of vehicle, also the Outlander is the worst in its class. Outdated pos
2016 and you said Outdated? , different class? you should mention best warranty in its class, 3rd row, premium sound, best handling and more
i have the 2014 model, the only thing i don't like is the gps navigation. It sucks...
What's up with all these SUV with no glove box lock on them? That's so annoying
chevy chase owns a nissan dealership?!? siiiiiick!
How would this handle at the beach with soft sand? I like to spend a lot of time there but don't want to get it stuck 😂
Wait how come auto manufacturers won't just make a CVT do the virtual gears automatically instead it just being a sport feature so people will still think they're driving an automatic?
It wastes gas. The CVT is not optimized for that. Since it's a mode that has to be activated by the driver, they don't need to use the data for CAFE standards.
oldtwins Im sure they can come up with something. I mean subaru's cvt automatically mimics gears does it?
Jonathan Washington no it doesn't, it only mimics gears on the $32,000 turbocharged engine model, and even then you have to push a button to engage it. Me personally if you buy a car with a CVT, then you should drive it in regular CVT mode. Why waste gas with fake gears.
bokkey45 if manufacturers are creating cars that are practically driving and parking themselves why can't they make a cvt mimic gears without it wasting gas?
Drive the 2015 Murano/Rogue and you will find exactly that...virtual gears (mostly when you are into the throttle) and a dream smooth drive.
im OCD about the Dive N Hide i want a flat study trunk not divided into levels
I would really appreciate if you made a 2016 maxima and or a 2016 altima video please thank you
Most buyers are going to have their kids with them, commute to work, and want good fuel economy not to be a harsh riding vehicle that jars your teeth out. NO a turbo engine is not what I want turbos eventually go out that's $2-4k out of pocket no thanks.
Hows the reliability?
Like Junk!
Nice video... Thanks so much for sharing...
i would like to see the review 2015 lexus nx 200 and nx 300 thanks
Try a cvt it will grow on you. Nice review
I wish it didn't have cvt. my dads 2010 rouge is rough.
I would like an Rogue SV AWD but I'm skeptical about the CVT. I don't know if It would last over 60,000 miles
+Robert Schneider i have a nissan rogue SL AWD With the CVT with 66,000 miles and plus my nissan dealer has cars are around 80,000 miles so you dont have to be skeptical
+Coolio RBLX Alright sounds good. Looking at certified 2015s and will have one by November
+Robert Schneider i have a Nissan Sentra SR 2014 with around 30,000 miles
I'm sure the Sentra and Rogue have different CVTs but just to let ya know mine has problems already like the car does not accelerate when the pedal is depressed. it shrugs when i do it, it'll accelerate to 2,500 Rpm and after a millisecond there it drops down and stays at around 2,000. (keep in mind the whole time my foot is literally on the floor.) the only "workaround" if i could even call it one, is turning overdrive off, and it accelerates just a teeny bit faster.
I have a 2016 VW GTI now. needless to say, i wont have to be worrying about shit manufacturing and quality now. its not a Bentley, but its leagues better than that crappy Nissan.
+Frank Lopez edit *HAD* a 2014 SR lol
+Frank Lopez "crappy" Nissan.... You had a bad experience with a lower level Nissan, but that doesn't make the entire brand "crappy". All manufacturers have issues with some cars from time to time. That's why they have a service department. Take care :)
I recently bought a Nissan Rogue. This guys is slightly wrong about the availability of some of the options so do your own research.
It probably depends on your location.
Great review!
Does the back not remind anyone of an RX350?
Breathe, dude, breathe. No one is pointing a gun to your head to make you get these words out.
That being said, the D pillar isn't blacked out, unlike on the Quest which truly has a blacked out D pillar to give the impression of a floating roof. But, the interior is possibly the best in the segment, IMO. Very well done and looks a class above the rest, with maybe the exception of the CR-V.
They replaced the base s model key with a switch blade key which has the same buttons off the intelligent key with a switch blade key
The only difference between the Rogue and the QASHQAI is the exterior difference....
Very informative!
Contemplating between this or a cx5? Thoughts?
Jossue Robins nissan has a better resale value.
I'm in the market for a new car but after watching the review on the 2014 nissan rogue problems & issues on UA-cam any and all nissan's are off the table.
Do the 2015 GMC canyon or Chevy Colorado
He quotes "The base model is around $23K and my test car here the SL is just a little bit more at over $30K My math says thats over 33% more that's not a little bit more $$$. For the $8,000 difference I could take 8 vacations, I could buy a used car, I could put the money in a savings account I could Help people a lot less fortunate. Some people don't think that way I guess and that's because they don't care about others and lack Experience about REALITY.
You should do the 2015 ford Mustang 2.3 ecoboost
Test drove this. Felt HUGE and clunky compared to the CX5. Roomier however drove like a minivan
Most people are going to go "32 highway and third row seating? Where do I sign!?!?!?"
dchawk81 if you drive this slowly, you might get 27 combined. also don't go to a dealer shit with that kind of attitude cause 75% of the nissan dealer shits are ass fuckers. do your reviews on dealers around you and don't act like you got no belt on your pants, cause they will be checking and even assume you don't. However, i believe this is a decnt family vehicle, i am interested in it as well. hope i helped you save a few bucks.
Carlos Pereira I said "most people" - not me.
everyone who has these seem to love them. I feel like 5-6k more and a murano is better overall.
Yeah but you're also spending yourself into lousy fuel economy by doing that.
True, it's just that a SV Murano and SL Rogue cost the same here in Canada.
+Brownie I live in Germany and we dont have the new Murano here.
We have 2 of them a 2016 sl and 2011 sl, we love them.
You keep saying their CVTs are good...... they're not! Had issues on my 08 Altima SL 2.5 , needed a whole new transmission
With 57k miles. Luckily it was under warranty, over 5k in parts and labor.
The transmission for the second generation is rebuilt as explained in the video.
You got a 11 year old car put some money in it
In the UK if you want this in AWD you have to put up with a manual transmission. Oh... and the only engine options are 1.6 petrol or 1.6 diesel. #facepalm
Hi everybody. CVT is actually the way every car company is going for. My only concern with my model is in city driving, my wife drives this car to just drop of and pickup my son from school and do some grocery shopping I would say a total of 10 mile round-trip and I she is getting sometimes 16 mpg, that is awful, taking in consideration she doesn't drive over 30 mph. Highway I can get 28 to 30 mpg which is good we just recently did a trip to New Hampshire mostly highway and got mostly 28 mpg and an average of 400 miles full tank range. But in city a full tank will only do about 260 miles. This is awful. Any feedback from some drivers that do have the same issue?? Thanks.
Have a 2013 Altima and my experience is similar. Most of my driving is under 3 miles around town and I'm lucky to get low 20's, but on longer drives on secondary roads or highway, it's mid to high 30's for mpg.
The problem is, the cutting edge styling on the big brother 2015 Murano with all its lines and curves makes the Rogue's styling look very plain.
In my opinion, the exterior styling of the 2015 Nissan Murano is a bit gaudy compared to the more reserved exterior styling of the 2015 Nissan Rogue, Pathfinder, and Armada.
When he revs the suv 😂😂😂
It looks way bigger then the outgoing one. It is my favorite in the cute ute class's
Thank you,Great Video and well Informed
How is the cabin noise ?
Thanks very informative.
I think a car with all NERF interior would make him happy. Then everything will be "soft touch"
What is that rattling throughout the test drive?
Please test charger and challenger 2015
Have you noticed the speed limit and you are driving over limit 12:09
Have u done any Audi reviews yet?
my dad bought this car 1 month ago
The original Rogue didn't have a high quality interior. It was ugly and plastic.
hate cvt's. Why cant they just do regualr 6sp transmission's.
***** its not just enthusiasts that don't like them. The general public doesn't like them either.
yea cant stand that droan. That's what kept me away from buying an Altima. It was down between the Accord, Altima and Fusion. Ended up buying the Fusion.
yea i hear ya..Should have got the v6 coupe comes with a 6sp Automatic or Stick.
Daniel Blaney you're joking right hahah.
They are doing it because the US Government is forcing them to improve their overall MPG of their line up and the CVT helps do that. Plus a CVT is cheaper, so that helps with their cost as well.
didnt talke about the front camera!!! for parking help!
rogue is just an altima with high suspension.
awesome car
What is wrong with the key fob?????? Old?? Don't think so!
My 2007 Infiniti M35 had the same style key fob. So it has been around for a while. But with that said I think they looked way better then Lexus/Toyota key fobs.
Driving enthusiast?????
How are you even mentioning driving enthusiast and Rogue in the same sentence. The Rogue is NOT made for driving enthusiasts.
GrifFungin maxima does well with appealing to enthusiasts. Nissan in general does have potential to put out sporty cars so it's not very outlandish to expect them to provide a sporty car that appeals to enthusiasts
Joseph Lara evidently you misread my comment. I said the ROGUE is not made for driving enthusiasts. Nissan as a company does make cars that are definitely made for driving enthusiast, such as the Z and even the Maxima as you mentioned.
The Rogue, not so much...
pricing for this model?
The only reason Nissan is now putting backup cameras on all models is because Honda did it.
Honda was not the first to do it lol.
***** LOL yes they were.
+Donny Ayye Honda doesn't have the around view monitor. It, and the comfortable ride, are the main reasons I bought one a week ago...
Paul White I never said Honda had an "around the view monitor." I said Honda was the first to put a backup camera on all of their models.
Donny Ayye I was just stating my reason for buying a Rouge. Didn't mean to imply Honda wasn't the first with the backup camera...
