I need to build mine, but I tend to wait half way these days. Just a simple check on parts then store.
What have you done with the jingle? 😂 Personally not a fan of it, but I’m sure others love it

I'm trying to streamline the branding on the channel. It makes editing a whole lot easier.

Hiya Wayne.. I don't /think/ those are shock absorbers at 5 minutes or so. I think they're pneumatic pistons for retracting / extending the undercarriage which is why they are movable. I'd expect shock absorbers to be fixed. Also they're at an angle to the undercarriage and if they were shock absorbers they'd be fixed upright. Finally there's no spring so they could only sink not extend. I'm not an engineer so I could be wrong.. it just looks odd to me.
With the pins, maybe a spot of glue on the end of the pin going in first /before/ it's inserted? Then when it's pushed in the glue is spread the whole length of the pin and won't shift in a hurry :) Possibly a drop of thread lock instead of glue?

Lancaster bomber undercarriage raising and lowering. is a nice video on UA-cam on the Lancaster undercarriage. it features an undercarriage rig at the East Kirby, Just Jane museum. The smallest jacks are the retraction jacks, they are not pneumatic, they are hydraulic. pneumatic jacks would not be powerful enough, and are mostly used on WW2 era aircraft when power is needed in one direction, the classic case of this are the flaps on the Spitfire, pneumatic power pushes the flaps down, dumping the pressure, the flaps are sprung closed. Hydraulic jacks work in both directions. Hydraulic power operates the jacks in both directions. undercarriage shock absorbers are filled with hydraulic fluid and pressured with nitrogen, in WW2 this would have been with air. As the shock absorber , does its job as the aircraft lands, inside the fluid cannot be compressed, as the inside of the shock absorber moves through the oil. the Nitrogen above is compressed and further absorbs the shock. As the shock absorber extends the N2 pressure returns to it normal pressure. I recommend anybody following this series on the Lancaster build to supplement it with watching the Just Jane rebuild series to get a good understanding of the aircraft.

@@davegoldsmith4020 Fair enough, thanks Dave, and yes I should have said hydraulic anyway not pneumatic.

Wow! Those pins are tiny! No use using your head as a standard measurement with them!
