He was mujahir, but his allegiance towards pakistan state establishment made him a lot powerful, not when he was army chief but DGMO in early 80's.
He was a strange man, speak like a Punjabi but not a Punjabi also often speaks too much.
In military terms he was a good strategist, but failed to implementor.
He destroyed pakistan during Kargil war in his almost 10-year reign as a dictator of pakistan, although some says economy was in track and reforms were made during his time
