We get nice sequences of animation this episode. The moment Yhwach clashes Ichigo's blade with his and slides it downwards sparking as it cuts his arm. I feel like this arc meant so much on character development. Not only for Ichigo, Uryu, and Everybody else, but specifically for Byakuya. It showed a whole other side of Byakuya we’ve never seen. The fear, his despair, his feeling of worthlessness when he lost senbonzakura and failed to be a protector. Byakuya was absolutely torn apart & i feel like him apologizing to Ichigo in a way that showed he truly embraced Ichigo as being someone that people can depend on to save them rather than Byakuya, Is such a strong point. He’s always seemed like some sort of mentor to Ichigo since Soul Society arc. That’s just my opinion on it but i loved it when i read it years ago, but i absolutely LOVE how they showed it in this anime
I am consistently being blown away by the tone and artistry of these episodes.. this is essentially a completely different show than previous arcs and seasons.. the quality is just miles above anything I've seen from Bleach in the past. And Bleach had become my favorite anime, but it's very clear that ratings restrictions and sadly the animation having to be made quickly really robbed of us something amazing back then that's finally being fully realized now, and it's been spectacular to witness..
7:25 The fact that even Aizen never got this look from Ichigo adds so much weight to this moment. The anime trope of “mc gets angry“ is relatively common, but for a character like Ichigo to give a death stare like that hits so much harder.
Remember in the fight against Aizen when Isshin said he’ll tell Ichigo everything about his past, but Ichigo refused? Yeah, probably should have taken him up on that offer.
The week prior Kubo released the designs for the first gotei captains. This was the first anyone had seen them, even the manga readers (we got one blurry silhouette panel and that was it). That tipped people off into guessing we’d get a sneak peak of them in Monday’s episode, and we did! I couldn’t be happier
Funfact:The anime forshadowed this reveal in episode 1. If you look at ichigos Bad Sheet it has a Cross Shape on it. Also when Ichigo was talking to Aizen b4 learning the Final getsuga Tenshou Aizen said and i Quote. Because you are a Soul reaper and... Then he was interupted by Isshin.
We have two explicit hints. When Isshin reveals himself as shinigami he is using strong talisman from Masaki (so she was conscious of spirits) and then there is peculiar interaction with Ryuken. Additionally Aizen mocked Vizards and Arrancars so praising Ichigo lineage was obvious he has more potential than just shinigami and hollow hybrid.
Kubo chose to hit the ground running with the story of TYBW and the pace never really lets up too much until its conclusion. It's like one of those rollercoasters that launches you out the gate at high speed.
Your reaction was perfect I Def got emotional with see Yamamoto and his flash back with little shunswei and byukuyas last words to ichigo man what a powerful episode. Next week is going to be a hard pill to swallow but a needed one for recovery.
its almost poetic that Byakuya died too his own Bankai, i feel like if they killed him any other way it wouldn't have been as powerful of a scene, i am really sad that he died but i feel like its going to change a lot of things which i can't wait too see
Yea this is the arc of anyone can get merked with no effs given lol. This is already gonna be the best arc of Bleach. So glad it’s finally animated, we’ve been waiting for so long
The OG Gotei is little by little getting more info about it and I'm here for it. TYBW continues to be a dream come true. The feels are strong, because of everything that is happening never before seen in Bleach anime (due to censorship). Amazing story.
Ichigo is weak, if he wasn’t the mc he would be killed instantly plot save him cause yhwatch could have killed him he wanted to take him away not kill him
Yes this marks the end of the massacre. I feel like it wasn't as hard to go through emotionally in the anime as when I read it in the manga tbh which is kind of a good thing.
Overlord and Berserk have made me fear adaptations, but Bleach has given me some faith back. These last two episodes were *pivotal* to get right to keep the series on track in the future and for the first time in a long time they greatly exceeded my expectations. A true 10/10
The person who did the soundtrack for Bleach (idk about this season tho tbh) also composed songs for Magi, so that could be why you thought it sounded similar :)
Wait until you see the rest of the episodes. They keep adding so much more content to the already beautiful piece that the this manga arc was. Is so endearing. ❤
Shiro Sagisu is the composer of Bleach OST (the original and now too). He worked in many famous anime productions and movies like Evangelion, Berserk, a Godzilla Movie and also Magi, maybe that's why you related the opening ost for this episode to it, he has a really notable and unique style after all.
He isn't only saying "you care about people and that makes you weak" he's saying "back then you even killed your own allies in order to beat me and you lost that edge"
Do you remember episode 19? Well, as someone who started watching Bleach this year, that old man in Ichigo's inside world shocked me because I knew exactly who he was, due to watching reactions on UA-cam, they started showing some TYBW arc theories. The whole mother plot twist wasn't that surprising to me seeing as it took more than Soul Reaper & Hollow powers to defeat Aizen. And the fact that Ichigo's powers had a blue glow before going black was another giveaway.
The composer for magi is actually the same as the composer for bleach. Both the old and the new series. His name is shiro sagisu. If you've already watched or will ever watch the neon genesis evangelion movies he also composed music for those. He's really underrated just because he hasn't worked on any anime like attack on titan or kill la kill where the soundtrack gets memed or attack on titan is just crazy in terms of popularity. but he's definitely up there with them. Side note hiroyuki sawano the composer for attack on titan worked on the ending song for this season of bleach. This episode was so good they managed to one up episode 6. You really especially gotta be careful of spoilers now. Even more than before because i'm certain people are itching to give away stuff.
"You care about people and that makes you weak" To be honest, he kind of has a point. In a war, there's no room for gentleness. Kyouraku even states "in a war, both sides are wrong". If a highly militaristic organization like the Shinigami becomes too attached to peace and values, they can't deal with ruthless threats. I like that it's a point many anime beat down in our heads. Naruto deals with the same thing, as Pain discusses early in the story. Kiritsugu reprimands Saber about thinking there's nobility on the battlefield, while Rider scolds her for having an immature mindset about how a king should be/act.
I could say it can go either way. Sometimes fighting for the ones you care about will push you to fight harder. But having people to protect can also distract you making you weaker. I guess it really depends on the circumstances
@@JamiUwU Yhwach was talking about how the Gotei 13 got weaker over time. He used the example of Yamamoto refusing to have his arm healed by Orihime. In the past Yamamoto would have done anything and everything needed to win a battle. In the past he'd have pressed every advantage and cruelly exploited anything and everyone needed. But in the present he was so prideful that he stayed crippled by choice. Yhwach was insulted that Yamamoto was so arrogant to think he could win even as a cripple. There is a bleach quote from very early on in the original manga. "Unless I grip the sword, I can't protect you. While gripping the sword, I cannot embrace you." Unless you become a ruthless warrior you won't be able to protect what you love. But unless you become kinder and more gentle you'll end up pushing away the people that you care for. Its a dilemma that Yamamoto struggled with. Its impossible to say who is in the right, because no matter what you do you'll always fall short in one aspect.
Episode after episode that continue to out due themselves and as a fan of bleach who read the manga that flashback with the OG Gotei 13 was fucking amazing and appreciated.
Shiro Sagisu, the composer for Bleach, is also the composer for Magi. He also composed music for the live action Attack on Titan, Evangelion, Berserk, and Shin Godzilla. Just to name a few.

Remember in the fight against Aizen when Isshin said he’ll tell Ichigo everything about his past, but Ichigo refused? Yeah, probably should have taken him up on that offer.
And really Isshin after Ichigo nearly killed by Aizen because you kept secrets from him you still gonna keep more secrets? 😅
No one expected Yhwach to flex on Ichigo after the first phase of episode. And then even his servant destroyed Ichigo's bankai. What a episode
The sword broke easy because it was already cracking from all those strikes in the jail and also for... other reasons.
@@PaulXPZ yeah ichigo seemed exhausted even before he fought the big boss let alone in that moment .
@@PaulXPZ
The fact that a weaked ichigo with a almost broken sword
Put up a fight and hurt yhwach is very
VERY impressive
@@PaulXPZ jugram wouldn’t have struggled against ichigo anyway
Haschawlt owns Ichigo at his current state
One of the best episodes in anime, honestly it was sad, but I loved how Dark it was, I'm gonna say this early, best arc in anime
It was in Episode 296.
don't forget old man zangetsu something is fishy about that XD.
@@markjohner2010 shhhh :))
@@markjohner2010 Hold on bro lol
Ichigo himself stopped Isshin from explanation and told to explain when he is ready
also Aizen knew about Masaki and Isshin from the beginning
You know, I read the manga and still react like it’s my first time seeing the episodes with this show. It’s so crazy
I don’t know how but each episode is just getting better and better. Every time I think they can’t top this they prove me wrong lol
If you haven't read the manga strap in because it is a ride to the very end.
What an episode. Fantastic from the beginning till the the end. Studio Pierrot and everyone involved in this animation, I love you! Bankai!
It doesn't even make sense how the show keeps getting better and better
Kubo chose to hit the ground running with the story of TYBW and the pace never really lets up too much until its conclusion. It's like one of those rollercoasters that launches you out the gate at high speed.
So we can call him Ichigo Bach now ?
Bleach is peak fiction 🔥🔥🔥
No
When he meant father he meant you are a Quincy
Yhwach is called the "father of all quincies", thus including ichigo and uryu
@@ibrahimsurti4922 OHHHHHHHH , That's still mind blowing tho
@@ibrahimsurti4922 wym. yuha did the dirty dirty with ichigos mom 😆😆
Jamie unlocked Blut Vene in the thumbnail too.
You're seeing why this was the best arc in the whole series and why Yhwach is such an awesome villain
The art work in this is amazing 👏 and even though I've already read the manga and know what's going to happen it still hits the heart string hard 😎🤟
Your reaction was perfect I Def got emotional with see Yamamoto and his flash back with little shunswei and byukuyas last words to ichigo man what a powerful episode. Next week is going to be a hard pill to swallow but a needed one for recovery.
Best episode so far 🔥🙏🏼
Many more are gonna top this tho 💀😭
The whole arc is a ride to the very end. Get ready.
@@chrisofstars ik mane read the manga 🙏🏼 peak 👌🏼
Man forgot how brutal this arc was at the beginning.
its almost poetic that Byakuya died too his own Bankai, i feel like if they killed him any other way it wouldn't have been as powerful of a scene, i am really sad that he died but i feel like its going to change a lot of things which i can't wait too see
Seeing the reaction of people that didn’t know what’s coming is great. I had the same reaction when reading it when it came out.
Yeah its interesting but also making me relive how I felt all over again when I first read the manga just so much dread
2 major deaths in 1 episode. This episode was insane. And the plot twist that Ichigos mother is a Quincy!!
Yea this is the arc of anyone can get merked with no effs given lol. This is already gonna be the best arc of Bleach. So glad it’s finally animated, we’ve been waiting for so long
1:53 fun fact: Shiro Sagisu, the bleach composer, did for Magi as well
The OG Gotei is little by little getting more info about it and I'm here for it. TYBW continues to be a dream come true. The feels are strong, because of everything that is happening never before seen in Bleach anime (due to censorship). Amazing story.
7:00 I couldn't help but cry along jamie
This and episode 6 might be the two best anime episodes I have seen in a long time
I was so hyped when ichigo came to the soul society I wanted him to kill everyone there when he got there I was just so pissed about everyone dying
Yeah it’s a strange feeling. Like HOW HYPE WAS him returning there… only to have him greeted with despair 😢 really felt his pain
Ichigo is weak, if he wasn’t the mc he would be killed instantly plot save him cause yhwatch could have killed him he wanted to take him away not kill him
Don’t get me wrong ichigo is strong but compared to yhwatch he is not strong which everyone will find out when they meet again
@@tajaemartin2251 ichigo is not weak!
2:48 Shiro Sagisu did the music for both Magi and Bleach.
Welcome to the Thousand Year Blood War, the introduction is over and the arc will now begin.
Yes this marks the end of the massacre. I feel like it wasn't as hard to go through emotionally in the anime as when I read it in the manga tbh which is kind of a good thing.
This episode is my personal favorite of the return of the series. Great animation, shadow, drama, and music. Dark stuff happens, but favorite episode.
This episode waws truly a work of art. Love the new scenes and as a manga reader, especially of the original gotei 13
I didn't even think yamamoto died i thought it's just his arm this ep makes me cry and this is the best ep in 2022 and 2023 😔
I teared up. This was an emotional rollercoaster. Damn it.
This was done absolutely flawlessly
Overlord and Berserk have made me fear adaptations, but Bleach has given me some faith back. These last two episodes were *pivotal* to get right to keep the series on track in the future and for the first time in a long time they greatly exceeded my expectations. A true 10/10
The person who did the soundtrack for Bleach (idk about this season tho tbh) also composed songs for Magi, so that could be why you thought it sounded similar :)
just get ready for it, lots of mind blowing eps will come and about ichigo's mother
It really gave me goosebumps about ichigo's origins what an episode
Wait until you see the rest of the episodes. They keep adding so much more content to the already beautiful piece that the this manga arc was. Is so endearing. ❤
Magi and Bleach have the same soundtrack composer, Shirō Sagisu
Love the video and keep up the great work
Yes Bleach and Magi ost are really similar because they both share the same composer
Gold just gold, The fact that Yamamoto's lower half kept standing even after his body was cut in half just shows the kind of Gigachad he is.
He isn't only saying "you care about people and that makes you weak" he's saying "back then you even killed your own allies in order to beat me and you lost that edge"
the best part of the episode is seeing how many unique frames they gave Shaz Domino
And the fact that Ichigo's powers had a blue glow before going black was another giveaway.
durning fight with aizen (ep 296, time 16:27), when ichigo's dad came, aizen said that "he is half human, half ... " and ichigo didn't hear that
The composer for magi is actually the same as the composer for bleach.
This adaptation is absolutely incredible bruh
"You care about people and that makes you weak"
To be honest, he kind of has a point.
While gripping the sword, I cannot embrace you."
Unless you become a ruthless warrior you won't be able to protect what you love. But unless you become kinder and more gentle you'll end up pushing away the people that you care for. Its a dilemma that Yamamoto struggled with. Its impossible to say who is in the right, because no matter what you do you'll always fall short in one aspect.
The fact that ppl think yhwach was a villain just make me sick
The quality of these Bleach episodes is insane.
I had the feels in this ep, especially when Ichigo spoke to Byakukya
Episode after episode that continue to out due themselves and as a fan of bleach who read the manga that flashback with the OG Gotei 13 was fucking amazing and appreciated.
Shiro Sagisu, the composer for Bleach, is also the composer for Magi. He also composed music for the live action Attack on Titan, Evangelion, Berserk, and Shin Godzilla. Just to name a few.
Aizen the real hero of this episode, without playing with Yhwach’s mind he would’ve taken Ichigo and said “that’s the end of Bleach, we had a good time ✌🏼”
All according to Plan
12:20 this is the "magic" of war that Kubo wanted to show: war is bloody, unfair and you never know who will survive the next wave of attack
This is honestly in my opinion the darkest Bleach episode so far
I’m glad I’m not the only one who cried during this episode 🥲😭😭
Magi's OST was also composed by Shigod Sagisu that's why it sounds familiar.
