@claytonschickoutdoors I have a ice tournament next month. How would u fish for early ice walleyes. Like what depth and lures would u use in a reservoir
Greatest ice fishing content on UA-cam hands down. Every single video you get the same thrill and giggle the same way you always do. A treat to watch!! Also super jealous because all of the lakes here in Ontario in my area are closed for walleye during the winter time 🥲🥲
That was sick Clayton!!! First ice is always a great time! top notch content...you need to link up with jay and get on them crappie!!! Thank you for all you do for me to watch a fishing video!
I know its ice fishing season when I start saying things in my everyday life like "well WHAAT is going" or " the great outdoors"....weird Clayton...just a plain ole weird fella I am. Love Saturday drops by the way...second favorite to mid week lunch. Probably best Walleye ice bite I've seen on YT...that first one
@@ClaytonSchickOutdoors yea man...appreciate the interaction. Got some Perch fishing here in Chicago in the morning....no ice here yet and hasn't been good ice since 2021...the harbors are a kick to ice fish when it does freeze though.
I was also out yesterday , notice the negative walleye behavior aswell. Keep up the great videos Clayton. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication.
Grouchy walleyes and still managing to snag a few good ones. Great video Clayton. Glad to see the top five rigs you use. Sure helps everyone out there have a fighting chance to catch something at their local lake. Keep them coming.
ARE you kidding me clay !? That was Some wild I mean sight fishing for eyes !?? That was ssssssick man great to see you out there gettin it done !!! There 💯 feeding on those crays they have to be ???!
Yeah Clayton, I was kinda bad mouthing you last week a bit that you repeat too much... well shut my mouth!! This was such a cool thing to watch. And when I think about it, thank god there are great people like you that continue to do this, thanks to you and cheers! Keep it going and keep it coming 😀 Repeat all you want because I'll be there to watch it. I don't know what it is about underwater footage. I sometimes play cat TV and UA-cam and watch our cats go nuts. I guess that is me and under water footage. Frickin love it! I might even have to try putting my hands on the screen as a fish swims off...maybe I will feel that much more connected...ha! Couple comments, that much water on the ice would annoy me. Good on you for doing it. And, how great is that when the first walleye inhales if when you hit the mud. That was exactly the move that made it happen. Underwater footage wins the day!
Really appreciate the kind words man! I honestly do try and do want to not repeat the same content all the time. It can be hard at times in this industry to change things up steady. Even though I don't remember the bad mouthing bad, or maybe it was on a different channel I must say I really am grateful for people like you that will go out of their way to send a nice comment or message like this. Thank you so much for watching the videos, it means a LOT!! I have been sent some videos of cats going nuts try to catch the fish I love it so much! Stay safe out there and have a kick butt winter!!
Clayton, there is something you can do, especially when you can see the hook outside the mouth...give it line like a tip up. Too many times people lose fish when we know what to do when we remember it. Another great walleye slam video 😊
Sweet video! Is this body of water productive in the summer (green)? I am amazed by all the zooplankton in the underwater footage. It looks like it would be a great fish factory.
What I do when there’s surface water is shovel out a spot backwards lol basically pack and shovel snow on the spot you want to setup on til you have a raised snow /ice pad on the ice , and put Matt’s down , and setup , rarely do I shovel off the snow to setup on I usually just pack the snow down and setup , unless lots of snow then I’ll shovel some off , obviously works better tho when weather is colder , as snow pad usually freezes up so your on a raised pad ,
Yup! Great idea, I do that a lot now when I am gonna winter camp. More work, but only way to stay above the water. I did this more so to be able to get cool shots under the ice :)
I'm in wyoming and love your ice fishing videos. I target mostly burbot in the winter. Here the bubot are invasive and landed 16 last night. Thanks for the good content from cananida
Such a cool video, that first eat was crazy! If you haven't done so already, I'd love to see you break down some of your rod/line selection for your baits too.
Have to love Frostbite rods! I got out Saturday jigging for bluegill, my brand new Mr. Noodles rod broke. I emailed Frostbite right away and before I got home I had an email saying my new rod was on the way. I will never purchase another brand again.
Hey Clayton nice vid!! Do you think you will ever do a complete lake breakdown on how to choose spots? I know you say structure but more specifically how you choose one when there’s multiple? Also what pole do you recommend for livescope?? 🤘🤘
I will try to do more of that :) Hard thing here is when I do a spot breakdown there will be 10 people there the next day :( Also I love the Arc Lab pole!
That's awesome. What would you do if you dropped through the ice? I ice fish the second there is 2-1/2" in Massachusetts. I don't think I would be too comfortable with 2" of water on top of only a few inches of ice.
Awesome footage! I run nearly identical equipment to you Clayton. How do you prevent any cable connections from getting bent and keeping all of your recording equipment safe during travel?
CS, Appreciate all the knowledge I’ve picked up watching your videos! I do have a quick question about my new dinner bell by frostbite lures do you leave the quick connection at hookup point or do you take it off and tie straight on? Overthinking this one I’m sure lol Always Thanks Justin
Clayton what's the one do it all walleye rod from frostbite if you had to pick? I need a new rod and the fish can be anywhere .5 pounds to 15 pounds. Bay of Quinte is like a box of chocolates.
@ClaytonSchickOutdoors I grabbed 2 to try, but they don't weigh as much and feel real cheap. Nothing beats the frostbite ones I believe. But I gotta wait for my order to replace my lost ones, so I'll see how this clacker does. I was pretty disappointed when I saw them.
Are you using frozen minnows for your jig and a minnow presentation or like preserved ones? If they're frozen are you just freezing old unused bait and then thawing before you go?
@ClaytonSchickOutdoors have you ever froze your own? If so how? I don't have any bait shops selling frozen minnows. And would also like to get more use out of u used live minnows.
is that forward mode or down? I really just use my livescope open water, never used down but when i've flipped to down, my bottom looks like a big U rather than flat like yours.
I know you know what you're doing on the ice and I don't, so can I ask: how much water in the bottom of the tent is worrying? Does it not matter? It looks like several inches built up from the water splashing up out of the holes. Is this due to thinner ice and the weight of you and your gear and sled?
So, I had 5" of ice and 2" of flood water by the end of the night. The flood water is usually caused by the snow, if you have TOO much snow and not enough ice then the water starts to come up cracks, and the holes I drilled. IF there would have been less ice it could be a scary situation for sure, but the fact there was 5" of ice the water was more annoying then it was dangerous. That being said, I wouldn't want to continue to spend time out there if the water kept getting higher and higher. Hope that kind of helps a bit!
Hey Clayton. I just ordered some frostbite tubes. You've used them more than anyone else it seems. Can you recommend a jig to pair with them? Brand / weight? TIA
Hey Clayton! I have a question about live scope, I have a garmin eco map ultra 106sv chart plotter, can I upgrade or convert to live scope without buying a whole new system? Thank you! I love the videos so excited for hard water fishing!
Another excellent vid. Come on cold weather and no more snow !!! Thanks 100,000+views on this one 👍👍🐟🐟
The snow has been crazy this year here too!! More coming tonight!

Great video Clayton. Really enjoy seeing the underwater footage of walleyes and walleye strikes.

@@G0DisTruth appreciate you watching the videos :)
Wow what a video! The underwater footage with the Walleye having the head of the jig in its mouth is unreal. Well done, keep the videos coming.
Thank you as always man!
Great point about them grabbing the jig head sometimes. Frostbite should make a jig that has an additional small hook on the front for that situation.

So much fun to watch!
Awesome underwater footage, nice clear water in that area! We have caught a few nice Walleyes using a ned rig in the winter...underrated for sure.

Yes! Just don't use with jigs, I like to direct tie that. But for spoons etc, but best to use a snap, not a snap swivel. Like a VMC Crankbait snap. :)

Why would walleyes not bite during this time of the year? Buddy had a underwater camera.
Walleyes can be so grumpy in the winter. They don't need to eat as often in the winter because they don't move around as much
@ClaytonSchickOutdoors oh okay. Yeah because there was a fishing derby and the folks only brought up one walleye. But yeah, I see that now.
