Always loved "In the Hall of the Mountain King". Today I went to a thrift store and walked away with a Yamaha C40 in great shape and it came with a hard shell case for $50. My first experience with a classic guitar and this is where I came to get started. Can't wait to get some new strings tomorrow and expand my life long love of the guitar. Thanks Darrell.
Let's kick off the week by learning some new songs! Let me know in the comments if there are any other tutorials you would like to see on the channel :)
Same but on piano now I’m 23 trying to learn classical guitar but I also wanna learn how to play classic rock songs like nirvana and sing along eventhough I don’t know how to sing, so I will still do it just for fun xD
I really enjoyed this lesson. It was nice to actually be able to play the songs rather than stressing myself out for hours on end learning complex arrangements. Thank you :)
This has to be one of my fav guitar videos, good work, the musics are beautiful and I'm sure I'll feel that overwhelming accomplishment feeling once I'm done learning and decorating this melodies
Nice lesson, made very easy to follow coupled with your friendly manner making it accessible for all abilities, good job. Is there a bee on the A string? I'm sure I hear buzzing.
Then dont learn that way. People learn differently, if watching someone isnt working for you do something else! For me I usually need to have the sheet music in front of me and to play it to learn something, the physical component activates a stronger memory connection then looking alone
@Hannah McFlurry. This song has double stops, which I would not consider beginner. Tab also looks upside down and it takes a while to get used to it. Don't get down on yourself, and learn songs you actually like!
Don't give up Hannah, felt the same way when I started playing (way back before the internet, and even TAB I think). Learn small chunks at a time, play slow until you can bring all the parts together then gradually speed up. Always found it easier to ignore the 'bar' divisions in songs and work on lines of melody that often stretch across several bars without necessarilly beginning or ending with the bar. Easier to remember that way. Keep at it!
I've been playing guitar for 3 years now but never really considered learning classical. It's kind of sad how I can borderline shred but I'm not even able to use my thumb and finger at the same time...
Who said that all classical songs had to be in standard? Not trying to be a smartass, genuinely asking. I've seen multiple songs that are arranged for classical guitar require drop-D tuning. In fact, one of the books that I am using is a book on classical guitar specifically, and it has Bianco Fiore arranged for drop-D. Is this not proper?
Aggggghhhh! Looking up a guitar repair and see an unrelated Darrell Braun video. Always compelled to watch as he's unique in cutting through the usual bull$#!% found on gear posts as well as being straight forward in song tutorials. Now find myself playing Swan Lake instead of repairing a freind's guitar. Thanks Darrell, got me again! Love your stuff, wish you'd been around when I started learning in the 70's.
@@DarrellBraunGuitar Extremely late answer, I know. But since UA-cam reminded me of this video not long ago I put myself back to playing the tune I learned with this video and this time I gave an extra step recording a little video of me playing it (itps uploaded in my channel) so I guess I can say thanks again. This is really cool for begginers . I’ve been doing courses , but if I haden’t , this would’ve been really helpful!!! I staryed about 6 years ago , but I started out with a classical book with songs by Matteo Carcassi . It has great songs to play that just sound awesome . It goes from easy to really hard . +Darrell Braun Guitar, In the Hall of the Mountain King brought me straight back to 5th grade music class haha. Even after years of playing, I still havent learned to finger pick. This is pushing me to start that journey so that I can eventually start hybrid picking without sounding like a hook-handed pirate, so thanks again! Great video as always. In your next tutorial it would be cool to go over scales vs arpeggios and what purposes they serve in playing.
Could you show how to physically do it more, didn't find this very helpful and you expect me to pay to download a PDF of songs you didn't even write??? Ever heard of Google? Get over yourself, I'm going back to Marty music thank you very much!
Why , in the hall of the mounting king, are we in the key of FMajor/DMinor but use Ab and Db which are both not in the scale? Are these notes out of key or am I understanding something wrong?
When I saw the Godin i got excited! Love that guitar. Add to that an easy classical tutorial, and I’m in heaven. Thanks for the lovely playing and excellent lesson. Got any easy Chopin or Bach pieces up your sleeve?

Great lesson, but you are a little too quick. It would be helpful if you slowed down when first teaching the piece. I just keep stopping and starting measure by measure. Thanks, this is what I've been looking for.
Thanks for reminding me of the Minuet in G. Last time i played this i was 13... Still could remember the first half. I guess my guitar teacher was better than i thought back then.

I'm learning electric guitar and hall of the mountain king which I had known since my childhood is the first song that I pluck with my fingers instad of a pick. @Lachlan Trescott yes how's it going?
Yamaha makes great stuff. My first guitar was a Yamaha classical for 100 bucks.
That's awesome!!! I'm two years later seeing this but I am very interested in knowing how you have moved forward with this.
How did it go
Don’t do this. I was tuning to d and it bust my string
Idk if you’re serious or not but how did you break a string down tuning it 💀
1st song - 00:50
2nd song - 7:49
3rd song - 12:16
2nd song - 7:39
just broke my E string trying to tune to D, what did I do wrong?
You're supposed to tune down not up. Set your guitar tuner to D and play the 12th fret of the E string - tune down until it matches.
@@xxALEC9889xx thank you!

If your name's Paganini, what you're doing wrong is you're not playing the violin
Actually, Paganini was quite an accomplished guitarist as well. His violin is simply more widely known
