I dont know if I agree. I spent a good 5 years without buying LV in the past because of how common it became, but lately they are bringing more real leather and exquisite designs back and it got my heart again for the last 2 or 3 years. I'm a Brazilian ex model, worked with fashion (and lived in) NY, Paris, London, Tokyo... today I'm married into french-belgian aristocracy and I see it very differently. LV still a classic that the aristocrats use very often. It's more of an ''everyday bag'' than a luxury item thou. I'm not talking about short on money french students that are on their early 20's, but aristocratic women 30+ that have nothing to prove or rebel from and have money from many centuries. And every family meeting, golf games, and brunches I see them everywhere. In Belgium and in France (we live in Cannes during summer). LV never made so much money as today after their restructuring, so I think they are going on the right path again.

First of all LV is over-producing. For the longest time you could only buy it in less than ten places on the whole planet. Now it's absolutely everywhere. The same is true for most luxury brands. It's not rare anymore, and value comes from something being precious and not easily obtained. I personally predict a crash for a lot of luxury because of it. Secondly the Chinese counterfeitters have become so good at it that LV now has to sew in hidden RFID identifier chips to try to combat it.
but if these authentic LV fanatics are simply after these hi-tech RFID identifier chips embedded to attain their sense of luxury and exclusivity and not solely on the highest of quality merchandise and the impeccable customer service...
That is sooo not the case. Yes, there are LV stores in many cities, but they are not in EVERY major city. And even then, outside of Paris, there may be 1 or 2 LV stores per city. Additionally, you can only buy LV merchandise at an LV store or website, or you will have to settle for secondhand goods at a reseller, which may or may not be fake. LV goods also never go on sale and they tend to hold their value better than most other luxury brands. I think they have done a really good job of managing their brand and exclusivity.

While I agree it’s morally wrong to purchase counterfeits, very high quality replaces are so well made they are made from the same materials as the original. Often the workers making them are actually being paid more than at the luxury houses. Sometimes (I mean specifically extremely high quality replicas that you have to do extensive research for and go through loops to be able to purchase) the quality is even better than authentic because they have to go through more thorough quality control, because their bags need to be absolutely perfect, while the real bag is already real so sometimes minor defects and details get overlooked because they don’t care about “proving” their quality, they know you are buying the brand, not the perfect quality.

Because it’s about the logo
You are just paying for the name of LV and not the quality of their bags. I would rather not buy fake items but I cannot afford the real deal so I would rather stick with COACH.
The labor and the high quality plastic, zipper, coating including service make luxury expensive. Same with dining at Michelin restaurants experience is incomparable to Taco Bell and McDonald's
I'm trying to understand why people value something more solely becaue it's out of reach financially for the majority of people. Why does that make people want something? I've seen videos where people take LV (and similar) bags apart and give an estimate of the value of the materials and labor. If you purchase a luxury bag, only a small portion of the price is actually going towards the construction of the bag. The rest is to make sure other people can't simply purchase the same bag. I don't understand the appeal.
It is the perception that something is more precious if not everyone can have it. Rarity of the product is the appeal and not so much the quality. Of course, it also needs to offer quality but similar or almost similar quality products that are easily bought and can reach more people are not seen as more precious despite their quality because they are not seen as rare.
honestly I stopped carrying wallets and bags atp. They are so heavy and carrying them throughout the day, breaks my arms and hands. I just go digital or stuff a few cards and 1 lipstick in my pocket when I go out. Dont see the point in suffering carrying anything out that doesnt go in to my pocket
lv used to source their vachetta from Italy....now its from everywhere...I like to buy quality Italian leather bags second hand...they are not expensive and the leather is fantastic..
If you can afford the real thing, good for you, enjoy. But there is no shame for people to buy faux if that is your budget and it makes you feel good. Enjoy and wear both proudly 🧡💛🧡 but buyer beware.
My grandmother had a large LV steamer trunk that she used in the 1920's. It was kept in her laundry room to store old linens and items. That was the housekeepers work area and yes, the trunk had the traditional LV logos all over it. In this day and age, brand logo's are for the fake rich.
I'm not into their bags but if I had the funds, for sure I'd be buying their ready to wear and completely renew my wardrobe with their clothes. Nicolas Ghesquiere's collections for LV are superb. He's got the talent for creating modern futuristic clothes that are also romantic and feminine. He's a blooming genius!
The Speedy is anything but structured. It sags unless you put in a base shaper or purse organizer. And I’m not into LV at all. Not giving this greedy corporations a penny of my money!
i wouldn't even want a fake lol i want items that a visually pleasing all those logos creep me out. Although the hisstory of lv is pretty interesting. Also as a designer even non luxury goods get copied these days my $30 items knocked off and sold for $4.
Exclusively ≠ luxury. Luxury is all about the experience a product or service has to offer. Exclusively is when a small portion of a population can obtain an item. There tends to be a big crossover between luxury goods and exclusively, but they are very different things.
if we still adhere to this outdated notion that the authentic LVs, Chanels, etc are of the highest quality available on earth and that part of these highway-robbery prices they charge the customer is because of top notch customer service, time to rethink... super fakes are of a higher quality now than the overpriced luxury goods and the way these brands treat and regard their buyers... puhleeeze! Who's to blame then?
Your first two cons are not applicable. 1) Buyers of authentic LV products have long been complaining about the price increase and quality increase of the products. They are the main purchasers of high quality dupes. Bad quality and high prices are on LV's head. 2) Buyers of low quality dupes were never possible customers of LV in the first place, as they could not have afforded the authentic pieces. LV could not 'lose' revenue that it was never going to have. Makers of 'luxury' products are slowly pricing their way out of business.
I work as a security supervisor for the housing Authority in Los Angeles county. Not too long ago we took into custody a transient lady who Happen to have the Louis Vuitton logo tattooed on her arm…. It was ridiculous.
Brands like LV are dying because of their greed with all of the price increases during an economic downturn. Plus the snobbery with the “exclusivity “ push by trying to get rid of their entry level products and calling their customers “aspirational” 🙄👀😳🤦♀️💆🏾🫣
Loss of revenue for the luxury brands should honestly been seen as a huge plus, when comes to counterfeit watches a real negative is the money laundering done by the criminal organisations involved in them
Why do you censor my comments? I've posted 3 comments about the counterfeit production and its heavy cost on our industry: All have been removed. Explain.
I never never liked LV bags. They looked like plastic to me. Then I found out, that many of the bags are plastic? Why would anyone want to buy a bag like that for so much money?
I always found their brown patterned bags hopelessly ugly. Why would anyone pay so much money for something that doesn’t even look good? It just seems like a practical joke of LV at consumers’ expense.
the monogram actually comes from the “japonisme” trend of the mid 19th century (see the lotus flower), and the versace greco roman themes are obviously, well, inspired by ancient greece and the roman empire
These brands have contributed to the counterfeit industry through their ridiculous price increases and declining quality. I would guess that very few people who buy the fakes would ever have the means to buy authentic. If the fakes make them feel confident then who am I to judge? I am quite frankly a lot more concerned with the human trafficking and Fentanyl flooding the US thru the Southern Border.

@@JakeStrada the reasoning being crime, makes no sense at all. The act of getting robbed is traumatizing. No matter if they ran away with a fake or not. Your wallet, keys and whatnot were still in that bag and will need to be replaced.
Why not then buy lesser known brands, fly under the radar and avoid all that to begin with?? Because it’s about the logo
@@melocoton7 you have a lot of opinions of how other people should feel. They should be embarrassed and traumatized. Anything else? LoL
I always wanted a mini Louis Vuitton backpack as my 1st luxury bag but now I’m not sure about it🥳🤩😘🌸💜🎀
LV is overdone. Fakes all over the place. But people still queuing on front of LV 😁
I love LV and I don’t buy counterfeit.
Coach is the BEST
That so-called capitalist economy has made it possible for more people to buy luxury items than ever before in history.
Yes it’s a turn off to buy and own product that widely exposed to copy ….make us feel cheep 😢
Omg china Town NY is full of these items but crappy
Depends where you go in nyc Chinatown.
honestly I stopped carrying wallets and bags atp. They are so heavy and carrying them throughout the day, breaks my arms and hands. I just go digital or stuff a few cards and 1 lipstick in my pocket when I go out. Dont see the point in suffering carrying anything out that doesnt go in to my pocket
I like canvas pieces in damier ebene as I avoid using leather.
Resuming : no one brand nowadays sells REAL exclusivity anymore
I get tired of my handbags after a couple of months so why should I spend a lot on a handbag.
lv used to source their vachetta from Italy....now its from everywhere...I like to buy quality Italian leather bags second hand...they are not expensive and the leather is fantastic..
LV has always been a no for me.
You’re absolutely right
It's an overkill, to many people sport then, am not a huge fan of loud logo..
Nowadays people are paying ore for the brand and not the quality imo
Speak for yourselves I love LV
Why would you wear anything with a logo on it, unless it was super low key - that is what puzzles me regarding the actions of others.
I hate Michael Kors for the MK logo madness. Ugly, and I am not your billboard.
Lovely documentary
All of these videos ae trying to fool you into thinking only poor people buy high end stuff .....and yes i will keep buying the real deal LV .
Not giving this greedy corporations a penny of my money!
i love how people try to put down lv and other high end brands ,,,,,, I have the money i see nothing wrong with buying what i want when i want ,,,,,,,
i wouldn't even want a fake lol i want items that a visually pleasing all those logos creep me out. Although the hisstory of lv is pretty interesting. Also as a designer even non luxury goods get copied these days my $30 items knocked off and sold for $4.
I see Kardashians and other celebrities wearing LV so I don’t think it’s going anywhere.
Exclusively ≠ luxury.
Luxury is all about the experience a product or service has to offer. Exclusively is when a small portion of a population can obtain an item.
There tends to be a big crossover between luxury goods and exclusively, but they are very different things.
Maybe exclusivity?
lv and Chanel have recently taken a fall and its because of the economy and the recent price increases...
Doesn’t the fakes cheapen the original?
if we still adhere to this outdated notion that the authentic LVs, Chanels, etc are of the highest quality available on earth and that part of these highway-robbery prices they charge the customer is because of top notch customer service, time to rethink... super fakes are of a higher quality now than the overpriced luxury goods and the way these brands treat and regard their buyers... puhleeeze! Who's to blame then?
The LV is one of the most tacky brands out there how can you call urself luxury with the designs they come up with 🙇🏻😂
I always thought it be a nightmare to put a LV keepall thru baggage claim. I like Bottega Veneta carry all. Only a select few will recognize the bag.
I don’t like bags that make the name so boisterous and loud. I feel it’s tacky and loud, superficial
Actually they never made as much as today. They are VERY far from dying.
What are you talking about. Load of tripe 🙄
Buying a name is stupid.
If you're rich and you buy a fake bag, you're smart with your money. If you're poor and you buy a fake, you're pathetic.
Vulgar.
I dont uuy luxury items
Loss of revenue for the luxury brands should honestly been seen as a huge plus, when comes to counterfeit watches a real negative is the money laundering done by the criminal organisations involved in them
Why do you censor my comments? I've posted 3 comments about the counterfeit production and its heavy cost on our industry: All have been removed. Explain.
LV is dying because their stuff is ugly and overpriced.
I never never liked LV bags. They looked like plastic to me. Then I found out, that many of the bags are plastic? Why would anyone want to buy a bag like that for so much money?
Every video you made recently just bashes brands...I don't get it
I only buy their leather products… except for that adorable little canvass trunk purse. Had to have that
1.Too many rappers own LV
2.Never liked LV due to the social class.
3. The quality on the bags nowadaus has gotten disposable
I have always found the LV logo plastered all over their products to be tacky.
Fakes are the best !!!!
I always found their brown patterned bags hopelessly ugly. Why would anyone pay so much money for something that doesn’t even look good? It just seems like a practical joke of LV at consumers’ expense.
LV stole the logos from African tribes and so did Versace.
How so?
Lollll
the monogram actually comes from the “japonisme” trend of the mid 19th century (see the lotus flower), and the versace greco roman themes are obviously, well, inspired by ancient greece and the roman empire
LMBO
These brands have contributed to the counterfeit industry through their ridiculous price increases and declining quality. I would guess that very few people who buy the fakes would ever have the means to buy authentic. If the fakes make them feel confident then who am I to judge? I am quite frankly a lot more concerned with the human trafficking and Fentanyl flooding the US thru the Southern Border.
😮❤
Jhope's ad for LV is chefs kiss
Buying fake is so tacky. Live within your means and stop craving nonsensical luxury. Are you going to impress the ppl at the grocery? Or do you go to Galas and events on a regular basis? Fake is stealing the ideas of the creators, shame on the ppl wearing fakes!!!
You are so naive!!!The brands also copies from others too.
@@danieldossantoscardoso8727 awww so you think two wrongs make a right? Ppl that are broke with fakes are so pathetic. And anyone can spot them a mile away. Posers.
Fake is never good.
