    I think the biggest hurdle I face when transitioning from using amateur modeling techniques using boolean etc to actually creating a professional and clean 3d model is knowing how to properly integrate booleans into my workflow, while being able to clean up the geometry after. I noticed how you managed to clean up the notch for the laptop and I can understand why you created the edges as such, but understanding edge flow and actually actively applying edge flow techniques into your 3d models is really daunting. I can look at the booleans I created, rack my brains but visualizing how the edges connect and flow doesn't come as naturally as seeing a finished result. I'm really looking forward to what your advanced modeling techniques videos has to offer :D
    Thanks for the videos! You're awesome!

      You will see more of it later, especially in the clip about cleaning up kit bash models. But I don't want this channel to only be about modelling. It's about VFX. But yes, there will be more modelling clips. I have along list of things to show.

    Je serais génial que tu nous fasses un bon gros tuto sur le modeling du laptop pour bien suivre toutes les étapes essentielles de processus dans le détail. Je dis ça moi ... Merki 😁

    That looks great! But did you start with the same base model that you cleaned up, or is it remodeled from scratch with the clean approach in mind? Thx

    • @BlenderBob
      @BlenderBob  4 роки тому +2

      I remodelled from scratch because I didn't keep the original. But it would have been easy to modify the other one too. Anyways, I always model like on this video. I'm not a fan of booleans and nGones.

    Great! Question. I am modelling a train and the poly count is already very high. I am not planning to animate the model or do extreme close renders. What is the best way to reduce poly count but I'm the same time keep the model high quality?

    • @BlenderBob
      @BlenderBob  4 роки тому +2

      You don't need to make it lower actually. Yep! It maybe a little bit longer to start the render but the number of polys don't really slow down the scene. The lighting and the shading does. For example, download the laptop from this clip. Make a copy and move it next to the other one. Subdivide the copy to level 4 or 5. It will become ridiculously heavy. Just apply a basic diffuse on both of them and start a render. You will see that the heavy one barely slows you down. If it becomes too heavy to move it around on screen, then maybe it's too heavy. Hard to tell without seeing it. You can always change the display of some of the heavy parts to bounding boxes. There are other tricks that I will talk about when I make my clip about handling a 75 million polys scene but that will go to late September. If you want to show me the model, you can contact me on my Blender Bob Facebook page. Just send me a message. :-)

    Hello. Did you use the modifier subdivision surface?
    If not, how did you get smooth bevels?

      @@BlenderBob Thank you. Actually, I don't understand how many segments are needed for a smooth bevel. I am modeling a midi keyboard. Button (on the keyboard) size 14×6 mm

    • @BlenderBob
      @BlenderBob  Рік тому

      @@artistpainting If you subdivide the model, only two.

    • @artistpainting
      @artistpainting Рік тому

      @@BlenderBob Thank you. But if I do not subdivide? 6, 8, 10 segments? This is necessary for rendering from a very close distance.

    • @BlenderBob
      @BlenderBob  Рік тому

      @@artistpainting There there's no recipe. You just get the cam as close as you need it and adjust the bevel as needed. But it's a good habit to learn how to model in subdivision.
