Perfect example of a guy who maximized his earnings outside the UFC. Bellator paid him a fortune to stick around. This matchup is a perfect litmus test. Great matchmaking.
Kevin Holland gonna drop him harder then deluded sandstorm beat drop
@@NRC613I don’t know about that one MVP is a bad man but can’t lie I would love to see Holland starch him in such a way
Yea, kind of like Chandler they stuck around in Bellator. Arguably too long but I know they got paid so well so I get it 😂
*lipnus test
They are going to make an example of him.
He can beat Holland (fight could go either way), but I think he's just going to fill the same role as Holland. A guy with an entertaining style who you can use to bolster cards, but ultimately isn't getting anywhere near the title. The good thing about being in that space is that wins and losses don't matter as much, as long as you're putting on fun performances
Based take
U pretty much said what was on my mind. They are gona give him favorable matchups, not opponents who will outwrestle him.
@@Suppermegamonkey Which is reasonable.
I might pay to see him duke it out, but I'm not going to pay to see someone pin him to the mat for 15 minutes.
And I love grappling, if it is competitive or dynamic.
it'll be like a WWE smack talk match loll
He’s just a cocky wonderboy
I’d pay big money to see MVP vs Wonderboy. I think their styles would mesh well together.
That fight would have been even better 5-6 years ago
Wonderbra would absolutely destroy mvp lmao
Would just be a point match
@@isisdaddy1exactly, it would end up being a boring point fight.
I'd rather see Womderboy in a point fight than against another wrestler, honestly.
I love MVP because the guy moves like a Tekken character come to life, but I'm not exactly expecting him to do great things in the UFC.
Him vs Wonderboy will be a awesome striking match.
@@Ravishrex1 If he beats Holland then we need MVP vs CONOR MCGREGOR. Both strikers and fun fighters to watch.
@@jaydaniel2145 I know they both are but the Conor’s been looking lately and mvp has been active I just don’t see Conor having anything for him.
@@jaydaniel2145You probably couldn't have said anything more stupid...
Look at Michael Chandler though. He has been hit and miss in the UFC with his wins/losses but he is arguably one of the biggest stars in the organization right now. MVP, win or lose, is going to be a massive hit in the UFC for at least a few years.
You said it.
Exactly, super entertaining fights but has only beaten two middle of the road fighters, every top fighters he’s faced in the UFC he’s lost against
It's different with Micheal chandler...If you look at mma, every 5 year we kinda get new generation of fighters especially in ufc... That's the reason khabib said no one can survive this sport for long and tony taking that beating means it's an end...
Chandler's signing was too late to ufc and same goes to be askren... Remember even gsp thought of fighting Ben askren and showed interest due to which askren left bellator but Dana left him hanging... It was the time when Dana thought wrestling is just too boring and left askren hanging and yes, it was before khabib era..
Coming to chandler, he too belongs with Eddie, Benson Henderson, nate diaz timeline...
It clearly shows if you see the fighters he's beaten and lost too.. He's lost to all the next gen fighters and won against he's timeline..
To be honest, chandler is huge success for ufc because the amount of body he put for bellator is crazy and still pulling of entertaining fights against Dustin poirier, justin gaethje, Charles... It's not like he didn't have he's moments of winning... All these fights could've gone either way..
Askren just wanted money to fix he's back... Askren was fast during he's initial days due to which he was able to be undefeated but he never adapted like khabib did...
colby sleeps mvp
@@CrawlingNYourSkull1 I’m a fan of Colby but let’s face it, Colby doesn’t “sleep” anyone. Dude is a decision machine. And MVP would starch him on the feet. Same Colby that showed up against Leon shows up against MVP, he’s dead in the water.
UFC 299 is going to be an awesome card. Can't wait to see how MVP does.
I’m in a shitty spot personally. I want him to do well in the UFC and win his first fight, but not against my personal favorite fighter. I hope Holland gets the W, but for MVPs sake I hope it’s also not one sided.
I’m right there with ya 😂
@@CauseyTrey can’t even hate the match making, we just gotta hope for the best lmao
I feel like Holland has been in there with way higher competition. I also like Holland so I want him to get the win.
@@terrancecaad915 the only thing that worries me is what makes him a fan favorite and that’s wanting to be so entertaining instead of using all his tools to get a win. If MVP is better than what some people think, then this could look like Wonderboy vs Holland. Which as a fan I can’t hate if he lost that way again.
same bro
MVP vs Michel Pereira would be an insane matchup
Ong
Mvp and Pereira both throw jumping knees at the same time, double ko.
Pereria has moved up though as he can’t make 170
@@coolbreeze3793 lol sounds like someone might take a knee to the crotch
I'm sure MVP has no problem moving up to 185 for that fight not like he's making any tittle runs at 170@@tombell6989
I like yall because you have no favorites. really educating the ppl about MMA thank u on point. ON DA GUYS
Fun fact - prior to starting MMA On Point with Jason in 2017, I got my first job in MMA creating a short documentary about MVP for MMA Junkie back in 2015. Here's the old link - mmajunkie.usatoday.com/2015/10/go-behind-scenes-with-bellator-144s-michael-venom-page-in-our-new-mvp-247-documentary Been a wild ride these past 8 years! - Tom
I've been here since 2017
*Where TF is Tommy ?!!*
I'm losing my patience.
Your hard work had definitely been paying off 😁
Hopefully hes making a new episode of Hitter Reviews with Nick Diaz ..Bloodsport and street fighter were tremendous ..he should do kickboxer
Description says UFC 199 instead of 299 as a heads up boys
Just Bleed Club is the property of Mr. Napoleon Blownapart, you've stolen it from him. Not cool.
you guys nailed it. perfect analysis.
Marius Zaromskis was the shit! Dude hit a backflipping guard pass
BEN took some time off and was "retired". Very different situation. This one is unique. He went the distance with Mike Perry in BKFC. That cannot be overlooked
He lost to Mike Perry, that can't be overlooked.
@@jamestoney6599Eddie Alvarez just did as well.... Granted he was actually schooling him the majority of that fight.
@@jamestoney6599 Why are people blind to the fact that styles make fights, and that fight VERY CLEARLY favored Perry?
Mike Perry is basically a boxer. He kicks a bit, clinches a bit, but largely he just boxes. And then you have MVP who's a kickboxer known for crazy knees, kicks, elbows--and he enters a fight where all of those tools are taken away and he's up against a boxing specialist. What do people expect? He entered Perry's world, and still had a very competitive fight. That's impressive.
It's like if you took an MMA all-rounder (let's say, Stipe Miocic) and put him in an amateur wrestling match against Curtis Blaydes (a wrestling specialist). Of course Blaydes would be much more likely to win. And there's no shame in losing to him. It's his world.
As someone who's watched MMA on point since the early days, I miss when it was just Jason and Tom.
No one cares
It mostly still is just us mate! Think a lot of people think we're a lot bigger than we really are. The team basically consists of myself, Jason, Tommy, Bayliun, Luke, Zac and Max.
@@tomransom1041legends
I always cringe when that stickman with acne talks about fighters, like mate you look like you stay indoors when the wind is blowing
@@citizeny3795yeah, well, he's alluded to as much. It's called irony. You act like "nerds" talking about "warriors", jocks or athletes is a new phenomenon. Sheeeeesh, mate. Check yourself and get a load of Ariel Helwani, pal. That guy's been pulling that same stunt for decades!
Looking forward to this!
There has never been another SPIDER!
That storley fight made me loose hope. He’s 36..and lacks understanding of underhooks was actually hard to watch
I'm a big fan of some of the Bellator stuff over the years. MVP has skills, and I've always seen him as a sort heel. When Douglas Lima KOd him in Bellator... It was one of my favorite moments in combat sports history. He made Dave Rickles QUIT mid-fight. That was crazy! I'm actually really excited and happy to see him in the UFC. He is a dynamic striker, a big personality, and I think he's going to bring some great entertainment to the table. Welcome to the UFC, MVP!
When its just these 2 I love hearing a podcast format. I dont when the editor with the hoodie up is on.
Never forget what Strikeforce and Pride fighters did when they came into the UFC. This is no different just on a much smaller scale
This has "fight of the year" potential imo, gonna be an absolute banger
It's crazy to me how many ppl cus truly molded into the person he wanted/needed in some way not just boxers but trainers even a promoter and lawyer..so ether cus was very intelligent and able to connect to these ppl on SUCH a personal lvl they put a lot of faith in him or just the best conman/manipulator boxing has ever seen...def one of the 2 I lean twords the first but hey u nvr know lol ...don't tell Mike I said this shhh😂
Love you guys
Thank you for doing something for MVP the UFC really didn’t give him a promo …I think mvp will do grate things in the ufc
you've got a small mistake in the description, the ufc 199 part 😅
This is one of the situations that you have to wait to see him fight with own eyes to make sure
I have doubts about him ending up like mike chandler and ben askren, but at the same time i dont, with the smount of crazy stuff we saw this year, i wouldn't be surprised as well to see everything he says comes to be true
He’ll probably do fine, likely gets top 15 spot, after that I have doubts.
MVP vs wonder boy would be a spectacle. If I was the ufc I’d get some striker vs striker matches for mvp just to showcase him. He’s probably never guna win the title but he is exciting and dynamic and his style is as fan friendly as it gets
I'm excited to see MVP in UFC. Been wanting a WB match up. Excited for holland match up & I'd enjoy garry & maybe even Michel Pereira
These informal chats about current MMA topics are your best content lads, do more of them
Sink.
1. Health. MVP had numerous injuries during his whole career and now he is 36
2. Style. It demands quick reaction and strikes and now he is 36... I think I said that already
3. Opposition. His previous opponents weren't kinda "world class". The first (and I believe the only) time he faced such an opponent was when he fought Douglas Lima and... you know the result.
I'd like to be mistaken, but I give quite little chances for MVP in UFC. Average chances against Holland, but in general if UCF will put him against top fighters, this is not going to end well for MVP.
I wish to see him fight Michel Pererira, Ian Garry and Wonderboy. 🔥
well if the break with usada meana less testing i think he could extend his career a good bit
I think he just doesn’t want to regret not fighting in the ufc. It’s the big league at the end of the day. IMO Kevin Holland is an absolute killer, he may lose every so often but I really don’t think Holland is at all an easy fight, I do think it’s on par with chandlers Dan Hooker fight but maybe that’s hindsight seeing that Dan hooker is now out of the title picture.
I like the Ian Garry fight, wonderboy, I think there’s a path to the title and if he’s a draw they’ll protect him from the wrestlers
Pretty sure Professor Myang Lee asked this in an episode of Brainiac
Anyone think that the UFC might be paying him something like 150k to fight? If you’re saying he was making 150-200 in Bellator each fight then considering his popularity they could pay him that easy
MVP after that bkfc fight said maybe I’ll try the UFC 😂
I feel like he's here for a good time. Not a long time. I feel like Dana is just going to give him exciting fights. I don't think he's going to make a title run. I think Dana just picked him up because he's exciting and down to bang.
The ultimate can beater has cometh!!!
Considering how Michael Chandler is 2-3 but got accepted by the UFC fan base with open arms, MVP is likely to be the same.
Logan Storley was a 4x D1 All-American so yeah he’s fought a good wrestler before lol
I don't know how good MVP really is. But he's fun to watch ❤
MVP is a can crusher, he’s fought people years into his career who were making their professional debut, not to mention he’s old and not a freak athlete like Chandler
More WWE style gimmick fights.
Ever since ufc and WWE joined its became a circus show. Sort of a soap opera but with mma gloves on. Clown show
He was a freak athlete
We need these 4 MVP fights:
VS Holland
VS Thompos
VS Ian Garry
VS M. Pereira
if they give him fun matchups, he can sell well. holland, mvp, luque, wonderboy, maybe neal, etc.
Im just happy to see him here probably a bit late but he'll have some fun fights if they match him up right
damn ufc 199 in miami? we're time travelin!
0:01 I’m doing this time marker here because in my honest opinion if MVP just goes out there and puts on even a good performance against Kevin Holland it’s great it’s awesome but if he goes out there and does exactly what MVP does oh my God it will be insane because they should’ve signed this man when is contract was up earlier, like they had plenty of time to do this, but they waited till this man was old he’s 36or 37 right now that’s old and Kevin is 32 I hate to say it but I really hope it’s a Chandler versus hooker scenario. Sorry sorry Kevin love you dude but MVP is the man the ufc should’ve got a long time ago
Personal preference. Preferred the sitting around in a chair format to this long wide table.
He will sink like a stone. He faced one decent fighter in his Bellator career and found himself unconscious with a quickness. His entire style is built around can crushing.
He beat him in a rematch...
I’m thinking he’ll float. Be a fun unranked/top 15 fighter.
MVP is literally a Palette swap of Wonderboy. At this point, in his career he’s in the UFC for fun.
Wht song is that?😂
Not even gonna mention ONE?
Its such a great league
They should’ve booked him vs Thompson. Someone ranked AND his style.
The best can crusher in the sport
MVP news wasn’t news at all cause Nelk “purposely” leaked it😂😂😂
The pact with WonderBoy was imo more to do with respect than climbing the ladder. Now if Holland tko/KO'd WB I'm sure his stocks would have gone up but not really a big change in the ladder/contender spot same with WB. With MVP that pre-existing respect won't be there. It's a "new" dude from a different organisation
I see him being a top 10 gatekeeper in the long run. He's got a win over Douglas Lima and Paul Daly who aren't slouches. I don't think he's gonna come in and really shake things up, but imo he's gonna hang around the bottom of the rankings, and probably have a fairly split record. Another Bobby Green type
Lima was Robbed of a million dollar victory over MVP, anyone who thinks MVP won that fight should stick to WWE !
MVP def has a gatekeeper ceiling. He's got a very entertaining style but he's really only effective against average to slightly above average opponents.
I believe he will be quite buoyant
He's great for recycling. Perfect can crusher.
Before I watch the video, I will never under estimate someone that literally breaks someone's face with a jumping knee then throws are pokeball at them.
Wow. I’ve been watching him since he first started MMA and i can’t believe it’s been this long. It’s also crazy to hear that he’s 36. Hopefully they just put him up against strikers. He’s clearly not going to win a belt or best any elite grapplers. IMO
Tae kwon do in the ufc always takes you so far but also the inevitable knock out when you start slowing down and throw something unnecessary
He'll do great if he doesn't fight anyone with blast double, top game, and low kicks. This is a guy that explodes knee caps and foreheads. With that said im a bigger Kevin fan and itd be great to see Kevin submit him.
The ufc should sign that flyweight champ in one
…no way…never fought anybody…never beat a UFC Champion…if ONE was smart they’d trade him for a real UFC caliber fighter like…oh man, what’s that guys name..oh well, I can’t remember his name…but you know who I mean…😎
I reckon he'll actually do alright
Mvp vs ian garry needs to happen
Excited to see MVP, but not against Holland damn it.
I love Holland, and want to see him win, but he has his hands full.
He’ll swim to the top 5.
He only needs to win a few fights. Holland is a good win, he would be fighting pretty high in the rankings very fast. Similar to Chandler.
Michel pereira is actually a good fight for mvp too that would be wild.
Holland is going to be a tough welcome for MVP. I think Holland is going to be too strong for him and i think Holland has to many tools for him. Prediction: Holland wins any way he wants
I think he’s gonna float. Gonna drop losses to top guys like holland and beat lower guys
While the match making makes sense, it is a shame that a fighter gets a free pass on easier competition compared to other fighters who grind at the high level. But that’s showbusiness
Holland as 1st match is nog a good scenario
MVP has lots of exciting possible fights at 170. All the ones mentioned plus Nate Diaz or Jorge Masvidal.
Bring him in, give him a chance! More the merrier, I always say...
finding out mvp is a bigger guy really confuses me, i always thought he was a featherweight / lean lightweight idk why
He's nimble like the lighter weight classes
Geoff Neal would be fun
If they match him up well enough, he’ll have some success. He is older and on his careers twilight years. If they want to bury him….the ufc can.
Good stand up. Questionable ground game. Perry loss was a serious robbery in my eyes, but I don’t even know the rules of bare knuckles
Askern was a funking wrestler
Gonna sink like a rock.
Kind of like Mousasi's path to the UFC. Mousasith though, he became champion of other promotions. MVP fought so he could be showcased for his skills.
I dont know if he'll be wrestlefukked in the UFC. Hopefully he gets paid.
Watching Logan Storley press him to the cage for 15 minutes, I'd have to say, he's going to struggle against the better grapplers in his division.
Holland is gonna put on a clinic against MVP.
5:40 uhm he fought Logan Storley for the interim title and did really well, not sure what this guys talking about here.
MVP VS Wonder boy pls
It all depends upon matchmaking. Page has the length and skills to beat any striker at 170 on the UFC's roster. Put him in against a relentless wrestler however and Page would be lost at sea with no hope of not drowning. Hopefully they'll feed him nothing but strikers so that we can see some spectacular knockouts. That's the whole point of Page at this point in his career. Entertainment.
Sped found
He fought Logan Storley who’s a fantastic wrestler
Gotta wonder what contract he signed and what he might have for somewhere else…. Did he turn down money for a bit of legacy? Did he think “if I string 3 wins together in the ufc that’s money and legacy” he was getting 100k just to show up at bellator, surely PFL offered similar?
They needed Michael six years ago. They keep getting talent that is passed their prime and failing to capture explosive fights by young fighters. We're also missing out on these young fighters because we're given these veteran fighter favor.
It might actually beneficial in this case. He's a big name outside of UFC. If he does badly then people will be like "see the competition's best striker can't even be a top 5 here"
am I the only person on planet fucking earth who only knows Michael Venom Page as a name and gifs?
In think he’s gonna be a chandler type of fighter, don’t think he’ll be champ but I think the fans will love him and his fights
Wait I am confused there was rumors that he was going to sign with the UFC.... but I thought it came out that he signed with the PFL but now he is in the UFC??? I'm so confused either way he is a good striker but don't know how good rounded his game is.
He never had any talks with PFL, he signed with UFC a week before UFC 296.
Hey here’s a thought, if he wins give him Ian Garry
Win or lose I would’ve loved vs michel perreira too
MVP and Trailblazer going to deliver
