We have 2 in our work boat, They are quiet at idle, with 2 at full speed it's pretty loud, but then it is a straight through exhaust. The raw water (in our case sea water) passes through the strainer - raw water manifold - raw water pump - oil cooler - fresh water cooler - and then out through the exhaust on the outlet from the Turbo Charger. The Exhaust pipe is a re-enforced rubber pipe, so it also partially cools that before going through a non-return flap over board.
The C series is several hundred pounds heavier and and (depending on turbo charger options) nearly 12 inches taller. C series engines come in both 8.3 and 8.9 litre displacements. They were also used extensively in Case/IH tractors. If you want to find an old one to overhaul hit up farm auctions.
@ncsuengineer88 just to add to 65jeepman's question... how much bigger is the c series compared to the b series? This would be an awesome video post of a side by side comparison if somebody could do that. having them run also would make it that much cooler :P
The 8.3 is a medium duty, the 5.9 is lighter duty. From what I understand the 8.3 has replaceable cylinder lines, the 5.9 doesn't. Just curious, what hp?
That mixing elbow is not properly exiting the water specially when you increased the RPM. I noticed no water coming out of the upper part of said exit, creating a risk of burning out the upper part of the exhaust hose during cruise.

@Russellt198 so would this only be used for boats and stuff like that? its kinda weird how this thing works why would it come out the turbo?
How high did you go on the rpms??
