I can tell the fiddle player knows how it is to be in love. Maybe he’s in love with the singer

Heidi Talbot has a very nice voice. I really like her singing, and her husbands playing. Heidi is also very brave to sing a Sandy Denny song. When doing so, the singer is immediately compared to Sandy Denny. Everyone falls short. Mary Black sang a few of Sandy’s songs, and she was very good. But everyone falls short. Rhiannon Giddens has a powerful voice, and is a great singing talent. But everyone falls short.

QUOTE - "When doing so, the singer is immediately compared to Sandy Denny. Everyone falls short" -- Wow... well. I grew up on Fairport... her solo albums, and even bought her box set when it came out.. lovely voice, no doubt... I think most of us from the 60's still yearn for the total artist's concept of the "album experience" (instead of "downloading a song") and when music was the driving force, message, and nucleus of the generation's social mindset. Some music from that time is as relevant today as it was then and still holds up...and looking back, I find a lot of it also does not. But if one has not become a bit closed minded, the notion that "everything was better back then" is quite romantic.... ...especially, if opening up to where the spirit of music is now (granted, we had garbage back then.. but not nearly the volume one must weed through to find where the spirit of "music" itself is now). Nostalgia, with an artist can be sweet ..but when strong enough, "everyone" else does begin to "fall short". But as someone once said, "nostalgia", at that time can become a synonym for "irrational" and "inaccurate".
