Hi nice video of your R200. I’m from the BayArea too . Right now I’m in the market if one. I’m tore between R180 or the R200. I’ll be fishing in the delta and also out the bay . Which one would you recommend ? Is the R200 in the sweet spot when it comes to towing? You think the R180 might be to small if I come out with 3-4 people out in the shore? Do you have the 150 or the 200 HP? What would you recommend offshore fishing? Thanks
If you want to fish in the ocean, I would recommend the R200. An extra 2 feet will help with taking the waves. If you are mostly inside the SF Bay or delta, then the R180 will be fine. It's a little easier to tow and more economical to run. 3-4 people should be fine with the R180. Once I had 6 people fishing on my R200 and people had plenty of room. The only problem is lines tangling with each other. The R200 with fuel and trailer and gear will be over 5000lb, so you need at least an F150 to tow it safely.

The only 2 things that bother me are: (1) the console tend to have about an inch of water after the rain. If you plan to leave the boat on a trailer, just tilt the bow up and the water will drain away. But I have the boat in a slip and water gets pooled there and won't be pumped away. (2) water gets in from the fuel vent into the gas tank. I had a mechanic replace the vent line to prevent that from happening. Otherwise, the boat is doing great and I would recommend it.
It's about 20 ~ 25 mph (following seas). I think we had about 1ft wind waves and about 1-2ft swell at about 12 sec. The boat becomes bumpy when you go above that speed.
@@biodot88 I am actually pretty happy with the options I chose. The only thing I regretted is installing a transom-mounted transducer with my Lowrance GPS (after market). I should have paid a little more to get a thru-hull transducer (after market, not the cheap factory-installed one that came with the Garmin 7). That way it will continue to work when trolling at low speed. BTW, for cruising speed, people in calmer waters (e.g., Florida) say they can cruise at 30mph and max out at about 40mph with R200+150hp.
