It was fun to watch him fly at Barry Days. I was very surprised from talking with him to learn how few hours he has in gyros, although he has a lots of hours in FW. This was Matt Novotny's gyro, so he and I had that in common - we both own gyro's originally built and flown by Matt.
I bought this gyro from Matt N. in 2013. I removed his instrument pod and added the instruments, painted it olive drab green, put all of the Army decals on it and flew it 100hrs plus. It was fun to fly, but I wanted to go back to fixed wing aircraft, so I bought a Piper L-21B (Super Cub). I sold the Gyro to Galen Hutcheson the Snipper in Arkansas in 2018. He never flew it, so he sold it to, I guess Gerald. Good Luck with it, and be safe. They say that Gyro's won't stall, but loosing Rotor lift, or wing lift (on a fixed wing) to me is the same as a stall, believe me I know. Thanks, Lonnie Brown

Lonnie, glad to see the gyro flying. After I bought the gyro, I developed cardiac problems. and decided not to take any chances. I would have loved to fly that great little gyro. I enjoyed this video. Happy landings. Galen Hutcheson.
This is demonstrating pilot skill on a higher plane, no pun intended. Pilots skills are taught, but some individuals possess an instinctual grasp that allows them to become one with the machine, and do be able to do manoeuvres that are beyond the ability of most pilots. We are watching these abilities demonstrated in this video. Impressive and nice to watch.

The aim of this video is for you to note down the times when someone is compensating for something. The person who get's them all right gets the "I'm pretty secure with myself" award and a pat on the back.
Yeah I would agree on a plane but with a gyro it is very secure because there is little weight on the front end and on takeoff and landings most of the force touching he ground is on the rear tires and then that’s very little. Gyro landings might sometimes land hard on the rear tires but the last thing to touch is the front tire, and then it just falls down to level machine and allow it to taxi away etc.
If this airport was closed so the abilities of this gyrocopter could be demonstrated and filmed, the why is there a fixed wing single engine taxing at the 4m37s mark?

This guy seems to really like pushing it to the limit. Very aggressive maneuvers at super-low altitudes.... The modified engine on this craft seems to have a lot of power, but that requires a fairly large prop that rotates with a high relative thrust line, to enable clearance from the ground... A factor which can easily induce 'bunting-over' (Which is Almost Always Fatal) on this pusher - prop type of machine which has no horizontal stabilizer mounted a reasonable distance from the CG..... If he could get ahold of a nice Ducted Fan unit, that would enable a much lower thrust line, which would greatly reduce the tendency of the pitch-down moment that is being produced by the powered thrust unit, that is currently mounted on a shaft, that is this high up above the CG...... Hopefully, he lives long enough to be able to read this and maybe make some changes that could extend his life....
So the apparent new owner says the craft was damaged and chopped from a 2 place to a single AND the owner stated that he isn't interested in performance stuff, just putzing around the curcuit, right??? Adding all that info, serious caviats, a significant rebuild rejecting from the designer's work and the normal rules of gyro flight and gravity, why did the pilot wring the beans out of this craft and all the barnstorming? Great airmanship demo but I thought all the Kamakazees died by 1945.

that thrust line seems a bit low, goes nose high every time he pops the throttle.
No, he's messing around doing that. Dominators have centerline thrust.

Shouldn't a pilot be showing off AWAY from the airport?
Closed course showing gyro Capabilities
They dont close an airport for you to sell your aircraft. They dont close it to test fly your experimental. Closed course is a term used for cars.
