    I learned how 2 do the teep when I was doing capoeira, in capoeira they call it ponteria, which translates 2 "the point" 👉

      Is capoeira any good

    • @arielraya5979
      @arielraya5979 Рік тому +2

      Yeah it is but not in a street fight, although most kicks require u to use ur entire body mass, which is what makes capoeira kicks one of the most powerful in all martial arts. some of those kicks are intrgate and hav secrets to them, which gives u advantage if ur opponent don't recognize them, apart from that capoeira also makes u hav more body control and fitness since it is like break dancing, and it could help u redirect ur body if u ever lose balance or try 2 be grounded in a fight. But in its disadvantages, capoeira requires u to always be moving, so ur likely to lose stamina quickly. Apart from that, those kicks are telegraphed, which can let ur opponent see an incoming attack, then there's the fact capoeira mostly teaches dodging instead of blocking or countering and it also forces u to be opened and just like tae Kwon do, some of those techniques has ur back into ur opponent which can be bad if ur opponent has close defense and goes for inside attacks. So capoeira is useful but in itself is not enough of for u so it's best 2 take kickboxing with or before capoeira if u ever compete

      would having a strong grappling base make capoeira a more viable martial art for combat sport or self defense? Seems like lots of the kicks put you close to the the ground and near opponents legs.

      @arielraya5979 4 місяці тому

      @@joebynum9056 it would I when I was doing bjj I saw a lot of moves that u see n capoeria n since bjj teaches u how to be lethal when grounded I fought wrestlers and seen pros and bjj really is lethal against wrestling even if u can't do a single leg, but I do suggest to learn bjj before capoeria, cuz at least bjj let's u spare, so for a self defense bjj will prepare u for a irl situation but once u do that then u can use capoeria when u hav the experience of a combat

    Hi, just started muay thai and I love it. Is it ok to leave my plant foot st 45 instead of 90 for the teep? I'm not agile enough and a bit too heavy right now to pivot the base foot on teeps.

    • @Testosteroneisnaturaltrump2024

    and they catch your foot, and your guard is down. serious question tho, both arms up? sacrifice a bit of power. or extend the counter weight arm?

    • @theFPbros123
      @theFPbros123 Рік тому +22

      Realistically you won’t be throwing this kick in a range where you can be touched, but if they were to catch your foot there’s definitely time to get that hand back up

    • @theFPbros123
      @theFPbros123 Рік тому +19

      Also, I guess a better point to address is that you want this to be one of your fastest kicks to avoid being caught in the first place. Couple that speed with mixing it in with a variety of strikes instead of always throwing naked teeps and it’s deadly. Sorry for the long reply

    • @bingsoo9559
      @bingsoo9559 Рік тому +3

      Hope this helps but you can sort of teep with a long guard (extended arm that’s the same side as your kicking leg)

    • @DankSwegSkuxxXhayel
      @DankSwegSkuxxXhayel Рік тому +3

      If they catch the teep with one hand and manage to land a straight punch you simply applaud the man with the monkey grip and move on
      Realistically for someone to catch a snappy teep they would need both hands which would allow you to punch while they are unable to defend
      A better thing to be aware of is to set your kicks up so that they aren't caught in the first place, as the man above me said this should be one of your fastest strikes and the impact should be that of a stab to the solar plexus
      The amount of power you can realistically get in a lead teep is minimal hence its better to throw it quick to avoid having it caught in the first place
      Couple that with thigh and knee teeps plus hip and right hand feints and you should be able to keep your opponent guessing

      You can hit with the ball of the foot or heel. They both are valid. Hitting witht the ties takes lots of time conditioning them. It can be very painful to the opponent once you do hit them this way, but again they all work well 💪

    I think a lot of people should first learn Muay Boran before going into Muay Thai. In my opinion this term will only throw you off balance as your body leans backwards instead of pushing forward with ur hips and body following the teep.

      You swing the lead arm backwards to counterbalance the weight of your lead leg while throwing the teep. Makes pulling the leg back much easier and quicker

    • @user-hi6vg4fz5j
      @user-hi6vg4fz5j Рік тому +16

      Also adding to what the guy on the top said, you want to create more force/power into your teep and make sure u hit ur opponent, he wont be able to counter you anyways if you’re able to hit him and jf you can’t hit him, he probally stepped out of your range which means he can’t counter either in time

    • @Leed9
      @Leed9 Рік тому

      When it comes to mid kicks it’s safer to put your hand down cuz they aren’t in range to counterpunch, even with lowkicks you throw your arm out, to the side and down

    • @DankSwegSkuxxXhayel
      @DankSwegSkuxxXhayel Рік тому

      If youre throwing the teep correctly and using its intended purpose you will not be in range to get hit with anything other than a return kick
      This is largely personal preference however as I have seen many fighters and coaches (mainly mma dudes) explicitly keep the hand up for defensive purpose
      Basically its to get more power in the teep, every kicking motion has this similar mechanic with the arm, I like to flare it when kicking but not down to my hip, just out from and in line with my shoulder as that allows for a balance of power and defensive responsibility

    • @zoomermcboomer4771

    I was told that if you teep and have no opponent in front of you, you should be able to balance back into your original position. I feel as though I can’t generate enough power without leaning forward. Thoughts?

    • @IronboyExperience
      @IronboyExperience  Рік тому +3

      Man I get it. It took me actually a long time to master this movement here is my secret:
      Your base leg have it 90° or more. This makes the Teep more of a side kick Teep. Most, if not every Thai fighter does it this way. What happens:
      You have more power with your Teep, longer range of weapon, and more balance.
      Try throwing a side kick and see if you fall off balance as easy. Now blend it so it's a Teep/Side Kick and you'll see your power and balance come as one.
      Let me know if that works 👊

      @@IronboyExperience great tip. I for some reason never could teep well with left. It just clicked. I got a great lead side kick to compensate but it was a little unorthodox..
      Basically shot out jab arm (fench) and kick at the same time freeing my hip side kick style. It allowed me to flow into a left to right teep instantly flowing. Thanks I will drill this 1000's of times now. Hip feels a little weird though as it's stretching in a way it isn't used to.

      Swinging your arm down gives more momentum and power but sacrifices your defense, hitting with your arm up will be less fast, less powerful, but you have a full shield rather than half… Both are right it’s just preference

      They are very effective when used well. The from push Kick can be used like the Jab, and just like jab be used to be sure the distance, set up stronger attacks, and more.
      Also remember it can be thrown to different spots to make it trickier to catch adding Fakes with it too.
