    I love how the first reaction of the mechanics is the kick the shit out of the wheel back into it's original, but damaged, position.

    "By being a racing driver you are under risk all the time. By being a racing driver means you are racing with other people. And if you no longer go for a gap that exists, you are no longer a racing driver because we are competing, we are competing to win. And the main motivation to all of us is to compete for victory, it's not to come 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th. I race to win as long as I feel it's possible. Sometimes you get it wrong? Sure, it's impossible to get it right all the time"

      Any advice for a 15 year old? I really want to try skip barber, but I am scared my parents will say no.

    • @JackieDing86
      @JackieDing86  8 років тому +3

      +Jackswigert Plays I remember back when I was 12, I told my parents I want to race cars. They thought I was out of my mind! It's a big step for them to take, putting their child in (in their minds) a death trap, but through persuasion and also determination, enough to move their decision, you may have a chance to try it out. A racing school is the perfect place to start!

    How do you upshift and downshift in these cars? Because i know that in a normal car to upshift you do Clutch in, Shift, Clutch out, gas. And to downshift it is Brake, Clutch in, Blip, Shift, Clutch out is it any different in these cars? do they have sequential transmissions?

    • @JackieDing86
      @JackieDing86  8 років тому

      +MikeTheMiata it is sequential; to up shift you lift the throttle, pull lever back, gas. Downshift is actual heel-n-toe, except pushing lever forward. That's it!

    • @tobydorfman975
      @tobydorfman975 8 років тому

      So no double clutching?

    • @tb9383

      This is probably wrong as I am coming from a simulator, but can't you left foot brake and fake revmatch while bang shifting down by blipping the throttle after getting into gear?

    • @JackieDing86
      @JackieDing86  9 років тому +6

      Well, fortunately, we racing drivers either have a tiny sense of self-preservation, or make some good judgement calls in split seconds. This video is a good example of what happens when there is neither!

    nice driving! does gearbox allow clutchless down shift? how do you like the car compare to other formula cars? Thanks!

    • @SamerGhosn
      @SamerGhosn 7 років тому

      No, you have to press clutch and ideally heel and toe to down shift - the main difference between skip and most formulas is the tire, they are radial, for conventional car use, can be driven on rain or dry conditions - in this case corners are slower or car tend to oversteer

    • @JackieDing86
      @JackieDing86  7 років тому +1

      Samer Ghosn well, they SAY you do... many drivers I raced against simply left foot brake. I was doing solid heel and toe though

    • @SamerGhosn
      @SamerGhosn 7 років тому

      Hum, interesting, tks for the update - it might depends on the track - on Road America there's a hard break with 2 or 3 gear reduction - not sure about car behavior on this without foot work - anyway doing go kart style could same some precious milliseconds

    • @JackieDing86
      @JackieDing86  7 років тому +3

      +Samer Ghosn oh some drivers (Neil Verhagen, the new RB junior, in particular) literally bang the gears down and just let the rear wheels chirp. Personal preference really
