25:00 That's actually not entirely correct. Some only have a single correct path (like The Warlock of Firetop Mountain) but some also have several paths (Scorpion Swamp for example). The Warlock of Firetop Mountain was actually one of the factors that got me interested in Fantasy when I played the book for the first time back in 1985 as a ten year old. Ahhh....good old memories....
This particular game book is really tough because the odds of you winning(even with perfect choices) are almost entirely dependent on the skill stat, and even then it's at most a 90% chance to win(vs less than 1% for skill 9 or less). It's like Ian heard how the previous book was considered easy after a few playthroughs and decided hia next one should be mostly impossible.
Fell asleep and had a dream that I woke up whilst the video was still going and Josh was threatening to write angry letters to Ian Livingston for making the book too long.
I haven't finished the stream yet so you may be told or find this out and I haven't seen it yet, but yeah, leaving the caverns was actually "DLC". The original adventure was published in the Warlock magazine, I think, and it was either when actually printed as a book or on a reprint that you got the second extended part.
at least Josh has learned that burning points of luck to potentially do singular extra points of damage in a fight, is a bad idea. I forget when, but in one of the previous books he used luck in a combat where the enemy had significantly lower skill AND had an even number of stamina points. ie: spending luck in that situation was both unnecessary, and had no potential positive outcome, only negative. though, he did use the term 'burn the luck' so maybe he knew in his heart of hearts
This book is the equivalent of that DM who is tired of his own campaign and just trying to kill the group so he can get on with something else :D This is one of the weaker books imo, as it is straight up just unfair from the start. So many 50/50 chances, that one must be the luckiest sob on the planet to finish the book without creative book-keeping so to speak.
Who comes up with football chants? Fans, especially more organized supporter groups. How come everyone knows them? The lyrics are simple to remember, if you go to a match and sit among the fans, you're going to remember them. Also, because they're a set of chants, repeating themselves. It's not like people invent them non-stop. Is there a secret meeting? No need. I mean, organized fan groups, like ultras groups, do have meetings, organizing stuff for the next match, but as a regular fan you don't need to attend to know the chants. When you hear the same chant 10 times throughout a match... you'll get the hang of it.
Someone did the math and even with optimal choices you need a minimum of 12 skill, 10 luck, and 18 stamina in your starting stats to have a more than 50% chance of clearing the book wtihout cheating.
27:40 You are NOT going to survive on a Skill of 7. I've done Caverns before and you really do need at least 11 Skill, preferably 12 if you can. 10 may just about be doable if you have very high Stamina and Luck scores, and 9 and below is just doomed from the very start.
Josh puts a shirt on. Everyone: ... Me: Heh, why does your shirt have a picture of a pair of b... Josh: They're EYES! Me: Er, sure, eyes, that's what I was going to say... a pair of brilliant eyes!

Just in time for a nice cold beer after work. Cheers, lads!
This is the perfect podcast format
YES I've been waiting for more book streams!
I think the stuff with the dwarf, Stonebridge and the hammer is a reference to Forest of Doom.

Onward, to...misadventure!
Omg omg omg omg the caverns and josh!!!
I like musical episodes... But specifically, musical episodes that acknowledge that they are musicals, and work it into the plot somehow.
Quick question, is the vod for Citadel of Chaos up anywhere? I can't seem to find it on the channel
every one of my D&D adventure ends in holy grail
The 39,999 Warhammers had me laughing.
Are those Warhammer: The Old World boxes I spy hiding behind Josh?
Josh saying skibidi rizz is the quality content i subscribed for

Speaking of stream safe dating simulators you should play Hatoful Boyfriend.
I love the concept of these adventure books, but I want to bury Josh's Twitch community in a deep underground bunker with no internet access.

hatoful boyfriend(dating sim) and long live the queen(visual novel, animu queen but politics)
Snow Witch
Would(en stake)
It must have been insanely tiring to purposely find something to be angry at
Ranni the snow witch?
This kinda reminds me of Conan the barbarian
Finally we are free from the elden curse
It was one of his best series tbh
@@CADClicker I didn't enjoy it, he usually plays old or unknown games and elden ring wasn't either of those.
The only real question is did Josh have a good night with the elderly lady on the train? ;)

I had no idea that Cavens of the snow with is so bad gamebook. Josh was evidently suffering during the play.
Hey josh! Just an idea, but I bet if you edited these down to a more traditional length video, they would do really well!!
Half of the fun of these is all the banter that would be cut, though!
The entire point is it's the uncut stream
I like that comment of yours, but if you removed all the vowels, it would do really well!
Ranni the snow witch?
