It really is though. I’ve hated everything Star Wars past Return of the Jedi, but man, Mandalorian came along and made me enjoy something Star Wars for the first time in forever. It really had that spirit. And somehow, Ludwig captured a sort of ominous John Williams-esque theme with that beautiful flute motif. He killed it. The one thing I didn’t like about the entire thing was Luke showing up at the end. Just cast a look-alike, CG was too distracting. The Bucky Barnes guy woulda been better honestly. Otherwise 👌🏻
He clearly has an incredible skill, I hate using the word talent because I dont believe that even if you do have a talent for something it will make you good if you dont have skill. Talent is what gets you into it, skill is what pushes you to create amazing soundtracks, and he has some incredible skill. Definitly the next Hanz Zimmer, has already worked on Tenet, and The Mandalorian and hes so young.
I know Swedish people grow up speaking English, but it still blows my mind how perfect their English is. This is the second video I've watched this week where the Swedish guy in it had almost no accent.
Honestly this is how most swedes sound when speaking english (at least in younger generations). I think we just grew up consuming so much english media that speaking english is second nature to us. Tbh my english is better than my swedish (native language) :D
the mandolorian soundtrack is the first soundtrack i have ever listened to like an album or some other playlist. for months now. and you know what? it does NOT get old. my god the music is effing good.
Love how the tenet music has an electronic feel but also the deep tense almost like scratching nails on a chalkboard type feel. And the inversion aspect to it to match the movie
The Mandalorian and Black Panther / Wakanda Forever scores are my favorites and I was surprised to know they were done by one person. I watched his the making or production of both, and truly admire this man! he's absolutely one of the greats!
It’s actually quite a common thing for producers to do, check out Andrew Huang on UA-cam, he often pitches down various real life sounds and uses them as baselines
Honestly I think everyone took this as a cool lil tid bit about music scores and some creative aspects of himself. but i took it as "if you wanted to get experimental with your regular music then understand human nature and things we're accustomed to"
Started to listen to this artist, in the last few days, and it is inspiring to listen to. Seems to me that how he composes and makes music, is not to be glued all the time in-front of the computer and or to be tied up in a sense with sample libraries , but to use and record instruments into the computer, inventing your own sounds and then putting everything together into the computer.
Great video Pitchfork ! Thanks a lot ! Ludvig is such a talented musician, i'm pretty sure that he will be recognised as a legend someday. For me he already is ;)
Actually Henry Jackman is the composer for Falcon and the Winter Soldier who is also a phenomenal composer behind the Winter Soldier and Civil War themes
I love how he’s done all this great, complex stuff, but then also a perfectly pitched sitcom score in Community
lmao it's him???
@@marcosvalium2712 yes its him
he also did New Girl
@@marcosvalium2712 which is how he met Donald Glover and how he ended up working with him on Awaken, My Love! As well as This Is America :)

It's such a shame that his score for TENET didn't even get nominated for the Best Score Oscar.
But he got oscars for Black Panther tho

@@pyronixe Very much
That's true and i'm with you on the mandalorian having one of the best scores!! Defenitely Ludwig is a musical genius

The Tenet soundtrack is honestly one of my favorites of all time. Thank you Ludwig
Agree - it's phenomenal. A soundtrack you can listen to for its own enjoyment, even if you haven't seen the movie. The sound design is incredible.
fantastic for working out
Me too
Thanks a lot ludwig! 🙏✌️
He looks exactly like what someone named Ludwig Göransson would look.
Maybe because he is Ludwig Goransson.
You would know, Andreas Nordvall
But NOT the way I thought a film score producer would look like!
He sounds like Zach Woods
🤯
Didn't expect he'd look so young. I imagine all people who create scores as old

I agree with what you're saying, but he has also lived in US for 16 years. I think that helps in losing some of the accent.
As a swede I still hear the swedish accent clearly
But we don't grow up speaking english.
@@zalkin83 Yeah but Hans Zimmer lives also in Usa for a long time alread, but he still doesnt sound like a native speaker

He should breakdown his wardrobe and secret Abba connection.

Ludwig was snubbed for teneT, a truly brilliant score
It's too "theoritecally" good for mainstream unfortunately :/
The Oscars haven't happened yet mate. But Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross will win for Soul anyway, and they deserve it. At least Goransson got a nom

The way he borrows real sounds and puts them in the scores is amazing.
Reminds me of Looper movie when Nathan did it as well
if you love that i definitely recommend listening to SOPHIE if you don’t already
The legendary Ennio Morricone was actually the first composer to do this back in the 60s, everyone else has been copying him since.
It's called field recording and it's been done since the 1800s by pretty much every film score and every TV series.

Yes! Always!

the way he did the composition backwards and brought the idea to life. genius
music is the perfect example of learning the rules so you know how to break them

Ryan Coogler gave him his start. They met at a party in college when Ludwig just came over to the US to study film composition.
