Walking around BGC Manila Philippines what do you notice? 🤔
BGC is the fanciest part of Manila. Explore Manila's slums if you want to see the 3rd world reality of the Philippines. It's heartbreaking but normal for most Filipinos.
The financial district of the philippines.like all country's UK London Ireland Dublin US new york.
Expats from different countries and I don't blame them. If you can live in a place for half to a third of the cost where you can have almost all of what the western nation can provide, why not? But BGC is not all Philippines, well in fact BGC is not all of Taguig City or Metro Manila. We have serious third world problems, no doubt about it, but it's HOME.
@@walterdayrit675 Even in America there are lots of people who are homeless, beggars, and drug addicts lying on the sidewalks, that's the reality of Uncle Sam, is it normal to most Americans? FYI, there's no perfect country in the entire world, I would rather live in a third-world country full of smiles, and hospitality, than in a first-world-class country like in the West & Europe full of hate, discrimination, and racist.
@@Brian_The_Lion i felt really safe. Its probably one of the most modern city in the world. Some foreigners are full of envy seeing Philippines progressing
The Philippines would truly be paradise without corrupt politicians.
True ,as african that living in philippines, this country will be one day the leader of Asia
Theres always corruption in every country even in the US and Europe. Why can’t you just be happy that your country Philippines is finally starting to develop??
All politicians are corrupt, whether they are Filipino or not. There are worst politicians outside PH. We just happened to be controlled by other nations (such as your idol, the US) that is why we compromise a lot leading to corruption. If a politician refuse to be controlled, they will be marred by the MSM, even calling them corrupt. So this concept of corrupt PH is just made up by the MSM, and YOU are indoctrinated by this idea.
Without corrupt politicians? lol start with your selves, One of the reasons why Philippines still considered as third world because of Undisciplined Filipino agree with your Statement about corruption but still that's just one of the reasons
3 rd World because of corruption officials!!!! almost all public officials are corrupt!!!!
I don’t care if my country is third world or not.But this is the only third world country that supplies nurses abroad.Poverty is everywhere even in first world countries like the US, New Zealand etc.
.yes definitely Philippines is a 3rd WORLD country...too many POOR 60-70% are very poor living like a rats ..Squatters/informal illegal activities slump are over shadow...that's why majority piglippinos are swindlers scammers deceivers beggars homeless ect....
But still go back to retire
I had my best friend in high-school, their family own a ranch in Bukidnon, I'd wondered why he goes abroad, He is a professional doctor. His reason is he wants adventure.
Also supplies seafarers to the world 40%.
If you take away the welfare system and foodstamps in the USA, you would see just how poor it really is. Call in all loans, and almost all the country would be in shambles. And it might happen.
Me and my husband are already retired in US. Our income is more than enough to live in the Philippines. The development in the Philippines is too fast. We are planning to buy condo unit in the City and construct a vacation home in the province where we can find helpers to take care of us. US is too expensive for Seniors right now. Philippines is not third world anymore, the GDP in that Country is leading in South east Asia.
Philippines is a good choice for you to retire. Filipinos don't discriminate race, age and status. Be friendly to the locals and they'll retaliate hundredfold
My advice for you and your sweet senior husband is to get him Philhealth first thing in philipinese then to have 10,000 US dollars 💵 untouched for medical emergency, in Philippines the medical care system has skin tax in place, your husband most like will be overcharged for every thing , if you manage to fly your husband out of Philippines to either Guwam or Vietnam, you will save 80% of what would you pay in philipinese for health care plus he will be treated in far better facilities than the one in Philippines, the medicen in Philippines is Crazy expensive, bring at least 3 months supply, in Philippines they really humiliate those who can’t afford their medical bills such as tie them to the bed and confiscate their passports and seized their assets , I am talking from experience, take care and God bless .
@@denvergalut7559 nope. Philippines is one of the most racist people I know. They're only friendly to white folks primarily
Philippines GDP is fastest growing but not leading, better to buy many things before it becomes expensive
Ah Nope, Ph is Very Slow. So much Corruption starting from the Govt. Vietnam is Faster, no Guns, Healthier Food, many Manufacturing companies, Neutral to all Opposing countries. Yeah.

in my opinion a Developing country would be a fair Description but not the 3rd world Country anymore that media has described the Philippines.
"third world" has been a very misused term... It really just originated from the world war, and third world just means any country that's not the allies or the axis. Germany isn't even "first world" in that definition.
"Developing country", as you say, is the correct economic descriptor. Poverty is in any country, at different levels and in different forms. So, honestly... Calling it in the classical "third world" which most people really mean is "under developed" like really really poor economically, is not even correct for the Philippines anymore.

I don’t think showing the most developed part of a third world country debunks its third world status. Sure, there are well developed/modernized areas in the country like BGC, Makati business district, and Cebu business district, but overall the country still has a long way to go before it gets out of third world status. Hopefully the culture changes for the better so the country can progress faster.

You’re only seeing the tourist bubble of Manila, but that’s not the real Philippines. Venture beyond those areas, and you’ll quickly find the reality this is a third-world country. I’ve explored it myself, and while the poverty is clear, the people here are genuinely happy with so little. It can put things into perspective for any foreigner that true happiness doesn’t come from the distractions of a lavish lifestyle. To really understand the Philippines, you need to see it for what it is, not just through the lens of a tourist.
i've been living in the philippines for my whole life and it's more of a third world country progressing fast into a second world country.
yes, there are alot of impoverished places, but "tourist bubbles" are proof that the philippines DOES have development, and this development can slowly spread to other places in the country outside of manila.

Philippines is a Developing Country not a 3rd world country
Yeah right! I knew this when I was watching a video "30 third world countries to retire at"! I thought Philippines will be number 1 in the list better than Thailand, Cambodia and Indonesia but before he revealed the best country or number 1 the list, he said that Philippines is not a third world country now but is A DEVELOPING COUNTRY that is why I did not include it in this list. It will be a better retirement country than the number 1 country in this list because now it is a developing country. Now at number 1 "so the video continued". Well, I don't like most of the politicians in the Philippines. I'm a Filipino by the way.
The philippines is NOT a poor country. What the PH has is a poverty problem. There is a very huge discrepancy between poor and rich. The rise of the middle class alleviates this but it won't be enough until the nation's growth will be inclusive. The problem is even if the the GDP is one of the fastest growing worldwide, the benefits are not felt by the people living at the bottom of society. So while the PH is not a poor country by any means, it certainly has a glaring "poverty" problem.
that's why the Philippines is a poor country because of poverty problem😂😂😂
Yeah 15% of Filipino are below Poverty line. That's alot. Good thing is the fertility rate is declining.
Don’t you think the poverty problem has a lot to do with poverty stricken people exponentially reproducing an expanding poverty rate by procreating in the process of having unprotected sex with a government doesn’t seem to care about providing free condoms just to keep the poverty rate down. I mean, if you’re in poverty and you also produce three children, you’re all the more in poverty because you can’t really afford those three children . Here in US the quality of living detriorated faster than anyone can imagine. Whatever money they making it feels like they still live like in third world. Its like perspective in life and how you see life.
London is not real Britain Newyork is not real America
Philippine is modern city..clean and friendly people..when its finish the new project of manila baythats a modern city also.
Well said Bryan
As long as you don’t run out of money,Philippines is a nice place to live.
Yah,why they called as third world country,we have own meter for water and electricity we have alot of huge malls.😢
We don't even call ourselves that. We are a "developing nation."
Those who are saying that are stupid enough, in fact even in the US & Japan there are also lots of homeless people, jobless, drug addicts, beggars, and many more eyesores.
Lol poverty is High in Philippines, like other regions 😂 Visayas or Mindanao 😀
@@cynthiamaegonzales7002and yet neighboring countries around the philipiens is developed and ahead of the country why?
**CORRUPTION**
@@cynthiamaegonzales7002and yes japan and the US has alot of homeless and criminals and drug addicts but the scale of proverty in the philipines is simply outmatched
I do not care if Philippines is a third world, fourth world, or fifth world as long as the prices of goods and services are cheaper.
Im a Filipino and I know it's a third world. BGC is a bubble.
So? If you read the comments above and below yours, you sure DON'T KNOW about the term 3rd world.
@83nomad5 comments doesn't justify GDP, and poverty rates etc. I studied economics, traveled the world. And it's still in third world, rebranded as "Developing country". Get out of BGC.
@@wheillebherttjanmontalbeu You claim to be educated yet still ignorant of what third world connotates. Google is free, genius. Stop embarrassing yourself. I don't live in BGC.
@@83nomad5 get a diploma and not Google.
@@83nomad5 besides what's with the insult?
It's not a third world, but a developing country.
Wrong you mean corruption is just taking a break 😂😂😂😂
So what? it doesn't change the fact that this country is still shit.
It's still the same bruh. "3rd world" has its modern meaning like a developing country.
Apparently you haven't been to the slums of Manila. You will see heartbreaking things that will disturb you that ordinary Filipinos see as normal there. You have only seen the classy, clean parts of Manila.
Why bother. He knows. Don't get him wrong.
Every country has a slums dude. Dude dont evem make me start how many slums usa has
You probably haven't seen the slums in the US? The slums in the US is like a no mans land, a zombieland.
Developing country have a plan for slum area
For his BGC series, yes. But even developed countries have their pockets of slums or poverty, not just as dense and wide as ours.
Still doesn't make us "third world" (or, properly, "underdeveloped country") anymore though, even if Brian immerses himself in our communities that are below the poverty line. Clearly, even they in these communities have at least mobile phone to connect with others.
To be honest, we Filipinos don't care if they call the Philippines a third world country. We care more about what we should do tomorrow to have food to feed our empty stomach.
BGC unfortunately does not represent the whole country. My country is still a third world nation. The people you see in BGC cannot afford the apartments there. Those condos/apmts are built for foreigners. There are alot of places that still have no basic water supply. Public transportation is a mess and roads are poorly maintained, no health insurance for majority of the people. 1 hour of work couldnt even buy you a meal.
Let them! the important thing is that we are happy in the philippines even if our thoughts are simple. God will take care of everything. I'm just happy when there are foreigners who enjoyed & love the Philippines. that's why I also love them from the bottom of my heart no matter what country they're from, because in my opinion not all people in other countries have the same attitude. maybe out of 100% only 30% have strange behavior. Who knows, maybe that 30% will change if you treat them well, and the whole world will be united.
I think this guy works for the tourist board. Getting a little boring now the false image of the PH.
You and that clown The Philippines truths/facts vlogger should hang out together at BGC and have a few red horse. You guys have a lot in common...now go get a life!
And we are seeing videos of Hi class Philippines how could you say it's false? Anyway call it whatever you want we don't mind, us Filipinos continue living. And honestly only anti Marcos Filipinos wouldn't want the Philippines out of the 3rd World trademark, because it's their idol politicians they want to take the credit😂.
@@pingyu5141facts marcos regime is the only one that make sense.
@@pingyu5141 BGC is modern but only a small part of a major city and country. How can you judge the whole country on such a small city?
@@tekkugema7540 True. Most developments we have in our country were planned during Marcos Sr.'s time. Even recently (last wk) the opened longest bridge (3km) in Panguil bay was in Marcos Sr.'s 1980's blue print! When he was ousted in that 'people power', Cory Aquino replaced him as president and stopped all his projects, but didn't do anything! It took 3 decades for the Filipinos to realize Marcos was the best president Philippines ever had! His son Marcos Jr. (PBBM) won the last presidential election in a landslide win. (31M as against 14M of Aquino's minion). With another Marcos on the helm of the country's governance.. expect the Philippines to fly high again in the near future.
The sensible way is to call it the New Philippines because new towns and cities are sprouting left, right and centre up and down Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. That's the REALISATION of the Philippines. The tag " third world " is a misnomer used as Propaganda by and from the West to make them look good. I know. I've been living in Europe for five decades and I've seen it seriously deteriorate. Crime is rampant. Snatchers and pickpockets abound. I was pickpocketed in London last year and lost everything
Big cities are kings of Pickpockets and scammers. I can go on and on and on....
isnt it odd how me and my family in the PH have barely been robbed/scammed in our whole lives living here (maybe once or twice but never anything severe)
but my family living in the USA have been robbed a few times before where their whole house was invaded, cars were entirely looted (by breaking the windows), and lost so much valuables too.
What’s up with your clickbait titles
You obviously dont know what debunked means… Check the dictionary first before you comment something like this.
Totally agree ❤ been thinking of going back home for a while, i miss the laid back lifestyle back home, been away for 2 decades and couldn't agree more that back is way better than anywhere else...

Saying the Philippines is not 3rd world is like scooping the ocean with a cup and saying "there are no whales in the ocean".
Metro Manila's poverty rate is 5%. However, for the whole country, it's 18% which is quiet high. The government target is to have a single digit poverty rate for the country in 2028.
New residential settlements are being built for the slum dwellers.
in Metro Manila alone, slums have been significantly reduced over the last 10 years. to give way to new commercial districts, railways, expressways, condos, roads, etc.
PH needs to catch up a lot with its richer Asian neighbors.
I'm from Philippines, but I'm aware of the "usual suspects" you're talking about but you can't point them out. They are protected by every law imaginable specially in the blue states. It's a ticking timebomb because soon those 13% will become 50% and the civil unrest over there will be catastrophic.
Born and raised in the Philippines until adulthood. Yes, there are less opportunities in the Philippines. You go to places such as BGC, Makati and the likes, of course you will find people who are dressed nicely. In fact, it is a very Filipino trait to always dress presentable, regardless of your socio economic status. But look at our housing, look at our roads,
at our government & our laws, it has a huge difference. I never saw America as a “beacon”, but surely it is different. Trust me, if you were born and raised and earn just like a common wage Filipino earner and just transferred to US, you can see and tell the difference.
Foreigners like you, don’t understand how the word gratitude is and how it is should be properly used. We Filipinos, regardless of what other country call or look at us always love our own country, it is not perfect, but it is ours. Maybe it is time to love and go back to your OWN country and be grateful of the opportunities you have. We, Filipinos do not need lip service so content creators make a living amongst Filipinos who are hungry to be appreciated. We are just alright.
I love how you narrate things about the Philippines while just walking around in BGC.
As a pilipino i admit we are third world country because of Filipino poor mentality voting corrupt and political dynasty politicians. But yeah we are developing country. Enjoy your stay here keep safe. 🇵🇭
Awesome take! Subscribed done! :)
I miss my country so much…very relax miss talking to neughbors unlike here you dont know your neirbour
The go back to your own country 😂😂😂😂
We moved to the Philippines 2010. We are not in BGC or Manilabutwe are 30minutes from Manila using the Skyway. Our daughter was 8 yrs old when we left the states. She is in her 3rd yr at UPLB and been on the President's List of Scholars all semesters. She was always high honors all throughout high school & President of the Student Council her junior yr. She never spoke a word of Tagalog before moving here even though we hosted almost every weekend in the states Fil/Am potlucks and rehearsals for cultural affairs at civic centers. It was the best decision for all of us moving here.
Exactly the same thing I repeatedly saying to people we meet on our travels--- be Filipino Stand tall as Filipino. I've been to 60 countries and nothing like Filipinos.
Love this vid man W

Thank you for your honest review Brian. More power to your vlog.
Reminder that the term "3rd world" actually refers to countries unaligned or have no solid stand between the "1st world" (mostly european, NATO/US-aligned) countries and "2nd world" (communist/Russia-aligned) countries during the Cold War. The term just stuck around as most of the unaligned countries had relatively slower economic growths and mostly had to pick themselves up after WW2. A more appropriate means of scaling, i think, would be the world bank's classification: least developed, developing, and fully-developed countries.
Manila is not the Philippines. Simply because the capital looks like that, does not mean the rest is the same.
But…you’re just in 1 part of the Philippines. 😂😂😂 ❤️🇵🇭❤️
Lol. Millions of homeless dogs there. Millions and millions are living in hopeless conditions. Millions homeless. I'm sure you have been around the Philippines right, not just Makati or BGC?
What you say is true bro. I am a Filipino in Canada, I miss the Philippines. Fast phased life here, Filipinos more relaxed especially in the provinces. I miss the beach, islands, friends. Thanks for this
Thank God🙏 you are the first person to speak with intelligence and sense. Thank you mate!👍👏🇦🇺
In no way Philippines is bigger than any country in the West. We're still considered a Third World Country and I don't really care, poverty is what makes our community closer. BGC is only a small fraction of the Philippines but if you go to the countryside we have fun loving small communities that care for each other. We have a culture that respects boundaries, elders and parents.
Trust me, our country is still considered as a third world, not to mention how low the salary here.
@@matthewserrano4048 true. salary can hardly make up the cost of living and more like modern slavery already.
Thanks Brian. New subs here!
The term first world, second world, third world isn't even about the economic status of a country. It's about the political alignment. The term was used in the cold war where the first world countries are aligned with the U.S, Second world are aligned with the soviets, the third world are those that are neutral.
Rn, we use the term Developed, developing, and under developing to categorise a country's economic status.
your voice is perfect for Voice over documentary
I don't care if my country is third world. It's not only the Philippines is a third world there are country also a third world. There is a huge difference between the major cities in the Philippines and the majority of the country. If you only stay in Manilla you have a narrow view of the Philippines.
