I've used this technique in the past, some people think it's cheating but I disagree. Each block is 0.25m³ and in reality you can fit a driveshaft and a fuel line in that space.
I second this! I cannot put to words how much i desire 45° piping and custom or opaque windows. 1x1 parts are nice, but really we could do piping similar to the mod manifolds (4 pipes in one)
@@aaronrepairsallthere is a mod pack with lighter blocks, 90 degree angle pipes (think 1x1 wedge, but a pipe) and 1x1 wedge 90 degree pipes. But I think they should be in the base game.
This was common knolwdge to most older builders and servers, however most arent active amymore. Tricks like this tend to be left off official channels so the devs dont hear about it and fix it.
A real old trick like this (that was sadly patched out) was using engine exhaust as coolant for extremely small builds. Exhaust is a fluid and it spawns as long as the engine is running, so all you needed to do was route the exhaust into the coolant in port, and out the coolant out port, and just dump it like normal exhaust after that.
I also believe mixing power and fluid will work after the pressure update because the game checks if each destination is connected, (like engine exhaust to fluid port its a boolean, it has never had the extra code to check if that same pipe system is shared with a non fluid pipe (a pipe transferring power) or vise versa. Unless power becomes a fluid in this update, nothing should change.
The Shuttle Van I built for your van challenge, I actually moved some pipes to share so I could get more room for the stairs into the seating area. Nice little trick when you need it.
I knew you could do it with multiple of the same pipes, but I never thought about different ones! I doubt this will work after the fluid pressure update... (You'll probably only have a certain amount that pipes can hold at a time, like fluid tanks)

Absolutely, it is optimizing the system based on the requirements of the job! Cheating is using infinite fuel or electric lolol

@@35manningThat's the Thales Aviation mod and honestly all of that should be base game

I've often wondered. Thanks for experimenting! 😎
I don't know for sure but I think you could route multiple fluids through the same pipe using filters and/or one way valves.
Good to know, thank you!
Power can't go through catalytic converters. What you experienced in the video was 2 driven wheels and 2 not driven wheels.

Pipes
:D
I love pipes
I didn’t know this! Thanks for the video!!
6:36 thats a DPF, not at all the same thing.
i'm too stupid to play games like this
