It's like a wish from a genie: You wish for the best sounding portable music player, and you get it, but it's inconvenient as fuck cuz you didn't specify
That is a reason I dislike a slider control for setting the volume. Another reason is that after using it for a while I'm concerned that it will begin to develop a crackling sound as I adjust the volume. That's why I prefer electronic controls for volume, my player (Sony NW-A55) has a hold function that prevents me from accidentally jacking up the volume.
@@DankPods Simple to explain wy the large FLAC player sound way better. While your other Phones and iPods can play music nicely on your high resistance headphones they greatly lack in the amplifier department. The higher you need to set the volume / the higher the distortion gets. If you plug in the iPod into a dedicated external amplifier it will also sound much better, although not nearly as good since you still have an additional amplifier introducing noise and interference. Wow, thank you for reviewing this player. Almost 10 years ago I went on a audiophile website, saw this player being sold for astronomical amounts of money and dreamed of how I'm gonna grow up, make big money and buy this one. Now I know what it's like
This video actually helped me learn about the stuff with the audio resistance that I didn’t know at all. It actually terrifies me how you can go deaf from the small mistake of leaving the volume too high on a device like this.
The 32GB limitation is actually not a fault of the device, but rather a default of SD standards at the time. The SDHC standard only supports up to 32GB cards. It wasn’t until the SDXC standard started to be implemented that devices could support 64GB+ cards. Currently, this standard supports up to 2TB in theory.

One important thing to notice: when you want to have a serious audio setup with a great pair of headphones, get the right hardware to run them of! This obviously has to be in relation to the rest of your audio setup. So if you‘re running a $100 pair of headphones, think about going for a $40 DAC and AMP combo in one. But if you spend $2000 on headphones (e.g. Sony MDR-Z1R, I love them so much), at least plan $500 for a good quality DAC (like the SMSL-SU8 balanced DAC) and most importantly: a great amplifier. If you want the cleanest experience and actual tons of performance, get any of the THX desktop amps (789, 887, 888 by Drop, Monolith, SMSL). Only (and only in this case!) when you‘re spending
Who needs frames per second, this baby has seconds per frame. A wonderful VU meter with a glorious 3 spf refresh rate, you'll see just how good the bass was 2 songs ago now.
This is the most beautiful device I have ever seen. I wish everything was designed with this much artistry. Pity about the functionality and usability.
This device is actually very famous among Chinese HIFI people. About ten years ago when I was first into HIFI, this is like the first proper HIFI MP3 made in China. We call them the 'Chinese bricks' since it's just huge and heavy, and powerful. The company actually has newer editions that somewhat resemble the look of it, maybe you can check them out.
I could imagine it being used in a studio when you want to show your boss the state of the product without having them come to where the gear is. Just put it on the SDCard, bring some decent headphones, and bring it to their office, so portable in the sense of take it to a different room not take it outside. It would be extremely helpful if your boss is either on a different floor or even a different building, and they want to hear it as it would be, or as close to as, in the studio.

and 7:57 is when you find the PCM sample in the raw data
DankPods : "I'm the only guy that only got IPod because people threw them out."
Me : you guys can buy IPod?
I bought a fully working iPod for 10 dollars.
@@JamesnLollify well, in here at least 20 buck for old ipod 4
I got a broken third gen for 16 bucks
@@thecaptainnoodles that's rare for the price, in here with that price we only have iPhone 4s
Naufal Fatihussalam i know i was really lucky
This video actually helped me learn about the stuff with the audio resistance that I didn’t know at all. It actually terrifies me how you can go deaf from the small mistake of leaving the volume too high on a device like this.
There is nothing better than a load of amplifier headroom.... super dynamic and clean.
I love the wood back cover. It's like the old Woody station wagon of music players.
Someone should make custom wood backs for iPod classics.
@@richk6827 just thinking I could probably do that 🤔 but it would be complety done by hand so no cnc and stuff, I guess that would be to expensive to sell then
the newer and much cheaper colorfly c10, has the same style back.
This is the type of device in shopping magazines ya read on the plane
This player is like the soup chef that will kick you out or leave if you don't do things his way, but when the stars align, it's the best thing you've ever tasted
I know it ain’t the best technology wise but WOW it’s beautifully designed

i love that design
Your Australianisms genuinely make me smile, fucking love Aussies 😂
So glad I'm not the only one who can smell large music files.
I've become addicted to your videos.
Your just really entertaining, dude!
Who needs frames per second, this baby has seconds per frame. A wonderful VU meter with a glorious 3 spf refresh rate, you'll see just how good the bass was 2 songs ago now.
This is the most beautiful device I have ever seen. I wish everything was designed with this much artistry.
Pity about the functionality and usability.
bless your heart, and here i thought i didnt have anything to watch at 3 am in the morning
trash Just wait until you have nothing to watch at 3am in the evening
Hey
Nice first comment there

Hey
Hello there
The Zune HD is my favorite music player
I love the Sansa Fuze. Not the Fuze Plus, though..its DAC isn't as good.
The Zoon
*it's a ZOON*
This was the first DankPods video ive ever watched. And now im wearing Samson SR850s because of him, and have binged nearly every video he's uploaded.
I... I might have to consider getting Patreon just for this guy. These videos are gold.

Don't heckle frank she trying her best :c
I could imagine it being used in a studio when you want to show your boss the state of the product without having them come to where the gear is. Just put it on the SDCard, bring some decent headphones, and bring it to their office, so portable in the sense of take it to a different room not take it outside. It would be extremely helpful if your boss is either on a different floor or even a different building, and they want to hear it as it would be, or as close to as, in the studio.
Every time you say "dollarydoos" it cements my head canon that your UA-cam channel takes place in the Bluey universe.
