Hope you all enjoy this deep dive into the Bagman! This is just a quick comment to apologise for the awful crop around the 14:15 mark; it looked fine pre-render (I promise!), so not sure what happened there. Anyway, to get the full (uncropped) stat blocks, you can find them here on Reddit: www.reddit.com/r/DnDHomebrew/comments/1apebv3/the_bagman_three_different_interpretations/ Cheers, Nazir
Actually used a version of the Bag Man years before it was introduced in Van Richten's. Mine was based on the Snatchers from Bloodborne and tried to stuff the Gnome Druid into its sack before taking off. Picked the Gnome Druid as its target because I knew she'd have numerous ways of escaping - turned into a weasel or something and nibbled her way out, perfect! The party were still super disturbed by this event and burned the Bag Man's body before moving on.
dude; 1 year ago ago my rogue companion stuck his hand in a bag of holding we never use. only ever happened twice; and thin hand grabbed his hand and caressed it before he found the item and took his hand out. We thought it was just a joke or a meme. the second time, he looked for an item, it was placed in his hand by the same hand, this time partially coming out as long with a gray pale appearance before withdrawing into he bag. we gave it a funny name and forgot about it. last session we went to out wizard npc friend and decided to ask him about it randomly. the wizard got very pale and gave us a horror story, basically telling us that the next time we stick our hand in there might be our last time living.... We have a fucking BAGMAN WITH US!? wtf!? now that I think about it; my friend never sleeps; he does "keep watch" and has been for the last 2 years. Andy is probably waiting for his fucking moment to get him
Those taken by the bag men are themselves doomed to become one. Legend tells that some times whispers can be heard from one's own bag of holding. Not from the bagman, they are always deathly silent.... the whispers speak of the coming of a lost God trapped in hidden spaces just beyond reality. The bagman skuttling herald of a horror tucked away from mortal existence!!..
This might be overthinking it but if everyone taken by a bagman is turned into one and each bagman come out of a random bag of holding every night to abduct another victim the number of bagmen would grow exponetialy quickly leading to them being the most numerous creatures in the multiverse.... Right?
Cheers! Glad it was helpful! I really want to flesh out Bagspace as a demi-plane/Domain of Dread some more as well. I'll make a video on it once I get some time to bring all of my ideas together.
In my group's homebrew, the Bagman is a cryptid. Nobody has ever actually killed one or obtained solid proof of its existence, but there are tales of people waking up after having fallen asleep on watch to see an elongated, bony figure slipping into their bag of holding, carrying a freshly killed squirrel or rabbit, a handful of berries, or a bundle of edible roots. And when noticed, it just turns towards you and silently holds a spindly finger to its thin lips.
I have been considering a bagman arc in my campaign, with "bag space" as a domain of dread. I think I will use the big boy you have homebrewed here, with a few nips and tucks (my party isn't gonna be lv 20 for this). All of these are very good, though. Now, I just have to get my party a bag of holding sufficiently ahead of the beginning, so it's not the day after they get one that they're all kidnapped 🤣
First awesome video, I really enjoyed The Lord of Bagspace stat block the most. Second yes I will be using him in my horror campaign. Third I would love to see your take on a Druid like creature that is the one who plants the false hydra
Cheers! Yeah, the third stat block was definitely the most fun to create - I hope it works out great in your game! I like the suggestion as well, I'll add it to the to-do list!
If you were ever free I would like to create some homebrew bits and concepts with you I'm making a whole campaign for my friends ATM (magic being controlled by a church power in a Roman era setting)
@@xXxJoeyxXx18 I'm always open to suggestions for homebrew stuff! I've got a new mailbox set up now for UA-cam (NNViewerSubmissions@gmail.com), so you can send your ideas in and I'll take a look.

Sounds pretty cool!

Hahaha! That sounds terrifying! I bet your DM has some good plans for it (whether it is the Bagman or something else!)

That's a cool take on it. I like the idea of the Bagman being able to create more of itself by abandoning other people in a random bag somewhere!

@@simoneriksson8329That's an interesting scenario. Almost like a zombie-type plague spreading. Pretty terrifying!
bagspace lets goooo, Just started running a campaign centered around the bagman and interplanar travel and this is the best video on the subject!

The one thing to also note if it’s attacking at night the party, save for the ones on watch are unlikely to be in their gear
Yeah, that's one thing that's easy for DMs to forget - most players can't sleep in armour.

@@NazirNorth awesome my friend
Very flavorful, frightening critter, Bag Space also has a Back Rooms vibe.
Yep, it definitely has that kind of Back Rooms feeling about it.
Really cool video for a very flavorful horror. 😎👍
Cheers!
EPIC thank you for making this
Had a blast making this one. It's such a great monster concept!

Do you have a link to the stat blocks?
