What a pleasure it has been to follow your journey martjin, I started following you late 2021ish, I had a serious accident that very nearly killed me and I had to relearn to walk, and I'm now on my feet again (95% with a lot of fighting and hard days but i'll never be 100% but i'll take the 95%), you have inspired me to live more and go after what I want. During that time I could live a little through your videos while I was stuck in bed for nearly a year, thank you for your content and what you put out into the world, truly.

It’s 10:30 am in the Northwest of the United States about 45 miles from Victoria BC Canada on Whidbey Island. The temperature is warm for this time of year at 52F. I am sitting in the living room of my cabin in the woods with a cup of coffee happy that we get a video from Martijn. Happy New Year and thanks for the artistry in filming and restoring. Have enjoyed it since the first episode.
This channel blows my mind. I mean, just doing all the work to renovate these cabins in a country where you are not native and don't speak the language is incredible. But then to film (with all the camera angles, and drone footage), edit, and document everything, well, it's nothing less than awe-inspiring. I've created a video or two for fun and it is incredibly time-consuming. I don't know how you accomplish all of what you do.

Martijne - your channel is similar to medItation. It's a study in patience, calmness, serenity and artistic integrity. I am an American that lives in a tiny village on the Mediterranean Sea with my Dutch wife on the southcoast of Turkiye. We had the shell of a small village-style house built for us - walls, roof on a 1100 sq meter plot. We ourselves have added covered porches, stone paths and an extensive garden. We laid the floors, built wooden cabinetry in the indoor kitchen, an outdoor kitchen and shower and several small storage buildings as we're a bit too old to have done it all. The silence here is almost profound and the lack of humming background noise soothes the soul. After watching your cycling content were thrilled at this home content. It is definitely like s meditation and a very enjoyable channel you have created.

Length of day and the ability to sun bask impact on their health and egg laying. They can forage in and around the forest if you get them out of their run during the afternoon.

Happy New Year from MINNESOTA, USA Few months ago I found this young fellow with a bit of land in the mountains. I raced thru 80+ videos and started over at #1! The difference in Martijn is striking. The first videos are more peppy and energetic, which makes his recent clips sound tired by comparison. But I don't think that is the case...it's his cadence that has relaxed and slowed down. I felt your pain, Martijn, when the storm blew everything down. When I was first married, my husband and I lived in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. We knew the wind could blow pretty hard up there, but we really didn't know how bad it could get. The freezing February wind blew our bedroom window in, shattering it all over our bed while we slept. It blew our canoe about half a mile from where we left it, it battered our front door so badly the glass shattered and the frame was so bent that we had to replace it. A small landslide caused our propane tank to roll off its base, spewing propane to the wind...the Hazardous Materials Team had to come rescue us. These and so many other hard lessons we learned while living up there.

Your chickens showed me where the phrase "bird brain" comes from. You throw down food for them and they all head for the same piece. Not thinking that there is enough for all of them. They all want that one piece.

It’s 10:30 am in the Northwest of the United States about 45 miles from Victoria BC Canada on Whidbey Island. The temperature is warm for this time of year at 52F. I am sitting in the living room of my cabin in the woods with a cup of coffee happy that we get a video from Martijn. Happy New Year and thanks for the artistry in filming and restoring. Have enjoyed it since the first episode.

This channel blows my mind. I mean, just doing all the work to renovate these cabins in a country where you are not native and don't speak the language is incredible. But then to film (with all the camera angles, and drone footage), edit, and document everything, well, it's nothing less than awe-inspiring. I've created a video or two for fun and it is incredibly time-consuming. I don't know how you accomplish all of what you do.
This wonderful man never gives up. His homes look better with every video and I never get tired of them.

Martijne - your channel is similar to medItation. It's a study in patience, calmness, serenity and artistic integrity. I am an American that lives in a tiny village on the Mediterranean Sea with my Dutch wife on the southcoast of Turkiye. We had the shell of a small village-style house built for us - walls, roof on a 1100 sq meter plot. We ourselves have added covered porches, stone paths and an extensive garden. We laid the floors, built wooden cabinetry in the indoor kitchen, an outdoor kitchen and shower and several small storage buildings as we're a bit too old to have done it all. The silence here is almost profound and the lack of humming background noise soothes the soul. After watching your cycling content were thrilled at this home content. It is definitely like s meditation and a very enjoyable channel you have created.
Martijn, thanks for another year, sharing your life and not hiding behind either "bliss or hardship." I so appreciate your illustration of living in the moment, yet never losing sight of your goals. We're all pulling for you, feeling privileged to journey with you in your building process--life itself.

If you haven't already built it, I think your chicken coop needs the most sunlight available all year round. Length of day and the ability to sun bask impact on their health and egg laying. They can forage in and around the forest if you get them out of their run during the afternoon.
When I remember what it all looked like the first video and what is looks like now, I am in total awe. The dedication, success and failures of restructuring, rebuilding, coupled with mother nature's natural course, and yet Martin still moves forward. Amazing man and wildly talented! Martijn , greetings from the USA, in Tucson Arizona. The precision in your build is a joy to watch. You are not afraid of hard work, and ask for help when needed. I like also that you take the time to hike and enjoy the beauty of nature around you. My husband is a craftsman, so I appreciate your attention to detail. Few months ago I found this young fellow with a bit of land in the mountains. I raced thru 80+ videos and started over at #1! The difference in Martijn is striking. The first videos are more peppy and energetic, which makes his recent clips sound tired by comparison. But I don't think that is the case...it's his cadence that has relaxed and slowed down. He's moving with a new rhythm.
What an exciting adventure I can have right here from my cozy cottage by the lake!

I felt your pain, Martijn, when the storm blew everything down. When I was first married, my husband and I lived in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. We knew the wind could blow pretty hard up there, but we really didn't know how bad it could get. The freezing February wind blew our bedroom window in, shattering it all over our bed while we slept. It blew our canoe about half a mile from where we left it, it battered our front door so badly the glass shattered and the frame was so bent that we had to replace it. A small landslide caused our propane tank to roll off its base, spewing propane to the wind...the Hazardous Materials Team had to come rescue us. These and so many other hard lessons we learned while living up there.

Marrtijn, I love your videos. Very inspirational. I just wish I was young enough and in better health to be able to do something like this. Your chickens showed me where the phrase "bird brain" comes from. You throw down food for them and they all head for the same piece. Not thinking that there is enough for all of them. They all want that one piece.
The men who helped you with walking up the steep slopes carrying the flagstone was HARD work! Great men! God bless them!

Martijn, my sympathetic nerve needs a season of rest before the work on the next cabin begins apace. I found it difficult to rewatch the stonework and scaffolding after only just reaching the point where you're able to live snugly in that cabin. I hope next year will go more comfortably, what with both your hard-won experience and the level of infrastructure now in place. I can't wait to see what you've planned.
