We Review Every PS2 Game - Ігри
This is my favorite game of all time, despite all of it's insane flaws.
I hear this opinion a lot actually! This game seems to have a ton of devoted fans, I was surprised to say the least :)
It is good, but the flaws are definitely there
@@WREPS2GOG The gameplay is a little "rought" but the tone of the game is so fucking good
The soundtrack is strange but good and the graphics are "charming" in his own way.
It's definitely one of the more memorable games I played. It had a really interesting aesthetic and I don't know many worlds that are portrayed as perpetually autumn, and the music is whacko as fuck but it has so much character.
Gameplay was busted though.
theres a seeeequel called forever kingdom (evergrace 2 in japan)
I now know that you're supposed to play the Darius and Sharline storylines piece-by-piece alongside each other. It'd be great if the game told me that, but it didn't which led me to play it the way I did.
Thanks for watching though :)
Also I promise never to list off names like that again, kinda cringe tho
Love you and your channel name
This was one of my earliest RPGs adventure games it formed the foundation of my taste in music I mean this is the nostalgic thank you so much
>playing ps2 games and having a normal life are mutually exclusive
Facts
This game seems like It has a bunch of great ideas that just didn't end up working out. The art direction is great and the character models look especially well done. The health being tied to your stamina is another interesting idea. But the combat and nothing story bogs it all down.
For sure, it's a testament to the fact that you can't create something based on good ideas alone. You still need a solid foundation or else your good ideas will crumble into a pretty mess :)
This is my childhood. I randomly just remembered this gem that I played over and over again as a child.
wow Kota made the first Animal Collective album
And the first Oneohtrix Point Never record.
Hehe
Seriously, listen to R Plus 7.
The ost is tight
Ah yes.
If you like the ost, you might wanna checkout “R plus Seven” or “Age of” by Oneohtrix Point Never/Daniel Lopatin.
Yeah, FROM composer and work back then was interesting, to say the least... his King's Field 4 work was great.
I consider this game to be a really great hidden gem
Im glad you made this video, this game is something weird, but the memories are important for me, so thank you! You are awsome
Holy shit. I've been trying to find what this game was called for weeks. All I could remember was the character select screen and main menu. Subscribed my dude!
Yooooo this game was so ahead of its time.. I haven’t found ONE game that can match the mysteriousness, hopeless, and strange feeling of this game.. and the soundtrack is BEYOND amazing and trippy.. I remember buying it for $3 at my local video renting store and I did not regret it one bit.. lots and lots of years later this game still sticks with me and I look up the ost just to listen to it aha! :D I also heard that this game came out before the ps2 even launched lol, trippy! But come on bro.. saying that hotdogs are more of a good time than this game?? Bruh.. those hotdogs may be good but they ain’t got the music and memories that will stick with you for years and years to come haha
Anyways nice review man, subbed and liked the video
To be honest, I should've mentioned that if you played this game when you were younger, it's totally worth getting. People seem to LOVE this game, but I don't think I could recommend it to people who've never tried it before.
Also totally agree on the soundtrack, it's super interesting, and definitely worth the listen
Ummm....If you want the mystery, hopelessness, and strange feeling on the PS2 you have got to play Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne. Great game! Also the hopeless comes specifically if you play through dungeons to fight the optional bosses- the dugeons are labyrinths (mazes) and there is no saving in them and you can die before you reach the exit. The game on "normal" is already HARD and on hard it's damn frustrating to make it to a save before dying. Great story though. This game was def worth trying btw.
It definitely felt very alien. The environment gave off an eerie vibe which I loved.
Some hotdogs will stay with you for years and years and then one day, after a visit to the chiropractor, it will leave you.
You don't understand how thankfull I am for this video I have had this game in the back of my mind for years but could not reacall the name or characters just the look and gameplay but thanks to your video I found it
This one? That's a bargain!
*(mashes the x button)*
This, that! This, that! This, that!
The merchant totally cracked me up :P
Lol YES! I thought my brother and I were the only ones who would quote something so goofy. "This THAT!" "This THAT!"
Great vídeo. I love this clunky ass game and it was challenging as hell when i played It on my PS2 back then, had to cheat my way out through Palmira ore farming.
Yup. I did the same for fruit farming
Code breaker for me 🐔
You have the crest? AAAAAAAAAA
Thanks for the review, I tried some older FROM. Some of them were great (KF4 was fantastic) but couldn't get into some of them, mostly due to not liking certain gameplay model (genre) and less free time with passing years... so these videos are great sources of informations for me about their old work. It's sad that they didn't put their older titles on PSN or something like that.
4:40 that sounds like KF4 system - attacking with lower stamina bar wears out weapons faster. Also "always best attack" sounds like something out of Morrowind.
please keep this series going dude!
My brother had this game. I never got the chance to watch him play, but I have the booklet that came in the case that I was super obsessed with as a kid for some reason. The game looks cool.
Great work with the reviews, the PS2 is one of my all time favorite consoles. It had so many games one man couldn't play them all. While I will likely pass on Evergrace it is nice to see what I missed.
There are dozens of us! I still have my physical copies of Evergrace and Foreverkingdom.
You review all the ps2 game nice im gona follow your page 😊
I enjoyed watching this thanks!
Thanks for the review
dang, i remember having such a hard time with this game. the game creeped me out so much. especially that intro song
Yoko Taro getting his hands on this IP would be phenomenal.
Subscribed. Always trust a man who knows a good hot dog deal when he sees one.
Wow I'd say that manual brought back memories but I've got it right here I used to flip through that so many times as a kid
Is there a vod of your evergrace stream? Real good video btw.
Thumbs up for mentioning Sheetz!
i heard theres a sequel called forever kingdom but in japan its called evergrace 2
8:34 Oh shit, it's Gehrman
I just got done playing the game and as it turns out the max you can boost a stat to is actually 200 not 999, just thought you would like to know.
I got this from Sams Club back in the day, id love to find another physical copy again, I never got far on the Darius play through.
I have this and Eternal Ring. Cases discs and booklets.
Reminds me of a Dreamcast game. Awesome game from from software
i wish fromsoftware would go back to the evergrace titles and try to remake them because its atmosphere to me feels unique and fromsoftware feels like the only company that can bring out such a unique world unlike most other big shot producers which feel rather same-ish. i mean my profile pic already shows that i am a fan of evergrace. so yeah.
God damn! Would it kill game devs to use the same name for sequel/prequel games so you know it part of the series? Evergrace Forever Kingdom. There did it an I'm still alive to.
@@AnarickTheDevil Hey, the games were titled Evergrace and Evergrace 2 in Japan! You should go ask Agetec, the NA publisher about that... Except they've been gone for years now.
I loved this game as a kid even tho I had no idea what was going on lol. I never had a ps2 but I’d always hog the ps2 at my cousins house just to play this lol
God bless all the cousins that had PS2s in the world
really nice ideas for future rpg's
Pretty good review, i like your chanel idea!
Hey, maybe you can check Forever Kingdom in the future.
Don't worry, it's on the list. I find it kinda funny that they renamed the sequel for the english release.
10/10 soundtrack but incredibly rushed game that probably could have been cool? I'm just assuming that it was rushed cus there's no way a development team would leave that many holes in a finished product with a good conscience.
FromSoft banged out 3 launch titles for the ps2 so I'm inclined to believe that they got rushed in some capacity. However it's likely we'll never know.
amazing channel
I played this game up to stage 5, where you need to chase the crystal ball so you can open the gate. But I finished first the sequel, the forever kingdom which is evergrace 2 in japan.
I remember getting this game when we got our ps2. I tried to force myself to finish it, but just lost interest towards the end. Thanks for the video to show me I didn’t really miss anything.
I liked the look and music of this game but I was never good and understanding these games as a kid. Got to the color doors and stopped when my weapon broke and couldn't figure out what I needed to fix it.
From software made this game? Legends fr.
Hope you guys doin fine, miss your videos!
This was the very first game I ever played on a ps2
7:05 Me too, in every game. Even my favorite genre survival horror mainly on the grounds a puzzle is not the act of surviving nor is it horrific in anyway lmao. But yeah, I always look up puzzles in nearly any game because it's not what I'm trying to get out of the experience.
I love this game im waiting for forever kingdom to come in as we speak
You have to take the CONTEXT into consideration when reviewing a game! This is what many reviewers FAIL to do! Compare it ONLY to games of THAT era! Not of games today!!!
By the standards back in 2000 this game was trying to be innovative and because of the many similarities between this and demon souls I'd say it did a pretty good job! The OST alone is worth checking out to those curious! Would say it was def worth the time back in 2000.
Also it's worth noting how difficult it is to actually make a game! I have nothing but respect to a game studio for trying to think outside the box and trying to deliver a memorable experience. Games like this and Nier automata do that and thats why they are treasured by some.
With all due respect, if you're looking for a review that also serves as a time capsule, this channel probably isn't the place to get it. I'm sure there are plenty of reviews from the year 2000 that handled that just fine.
@@WREPS2GOG its not about me looking for a time capsule review- of course i can do that. Its about it not being fair to compare this games limitations in system, budget, time-restraints, & man-power to Demon Souls for example. If the people who made this game had access to the same tools Demon Souls had it probably would have been just as good. Its ok to say a game isnt fun and has no replay value if thats your opinion but its not cruel to not take into consideration its budget, time restraints, team/man-power- not to mention system limitations...im not sure i made myself clear....a bad game is bad no matter the system. A good game is good no matter the system/era. Comparisons are kind of wrong tho. Thats what im trying to say.
I mean I'm never comparing budget, time restraints or man-power to that of other games though. Any time I'm comparing it to another game, I'm doing so to give historical context to the viewer. I'm sure you're aware that a lot of people who are checking out this game are doing so because of the name attached to it. My comparison to Demon Souls and Kings field at the end is less one of "This game is worse than demon souls" and more of "This game has enough similarities to both it's predecessor and it's successor if you liked those games to pique your interest, but not enough for me to recommend you try them if that's why you're coming to this game. (Which as I've stated, will be the reason many first-timers are)
and besides that and a one-off fashion joke with dark souls (which specifically mentions how this game is one of the few RPGs for the time that actually showed the equipment on your player model btw), this one's pretty light on the comparisons to later series'.
I hardly consider either of these unfair, but I understand why you would think so, I just disagree. Thanks for watching regardless
@@WREPS2GOG i dont think i was commenting on you exactly. I liked your in-depth review. You told us the name of the games composer which is an extra step most reviewers wont take but should. You did a great job. Im more commenting out of frustration to other reviewers and comments ive seen that are ungrateful and ignorant....i opened up 4 tabs on reviews for this game and i ended up only liking yours and commenting on yours. i was venting but i apologize that it was inapropriate to do so here
Ps 2 era was so good
I appreciate the review bro. I remember nagging my Mom to buy this game for me because there was a edgy cool guy with a sword on the cover. I remember bits and pieces of it, mostly that it was weird as fuck and kinda fun too. Didn't even know it paved the way for games like Dark Souls which is cool. It would be cool if it got a Remake like Final Fantasy 7 but we all know it doesn't have the fanbase for that. lol
This is the only place I could find the plot of the game
I confused this with eternal ring for the longest time
Love this game so fucking much.
i still got the cd too remember
Keep it up review the old games thank you
Forever kingdom, will you play it? Its a prequel to this game.
It's on my radar
Wait till you play Forever Kingdom.
this game is a classic
Are you gonna play the prequel?
Yeah at some point
Another game that was a major influence on me was grandstream saga for PS1 another subpar underrated gem with a funky soundtrack
Wait, PREQUEL!? WHAT WHERE IS IT?
@@toangreenlow2229 It is called Forever Kingdom, you can buy it on Amazon if it's in stock
Mayo and onions!
This was one of the games my mom refused to buy
Squirt is so fucking good.
im not sure if your making videos with some sort of list but can you please do a video on a game called "Cold Fear" as i think it has some unique charm too it even though it feels like its a bit off a ripoff another popular game franchise that ryhmes with Presidents Equal :P
I've got a few things lined up already, but I do have my eyes on this one. Funny coincidence, someone in the discord server actually just bought Cold Fear and put it in the game pickups chat today.
@@WREPS2GOG haha it's a Sign , it's meant to be
i like your video
I remember at Christmas that year that it came out my parents bought it for me and I was expecting some other game that I really wanted. think it may of been soul reaver 2 of some other game can't remember but I snooped into what my parents bought me and it was this game and I'm like wtf is this? I didn't ask for this game haha lol anyways I played it and remember not liking it very much.
Grate Game … Next Time take your time srs it's a grate ps2 game... Love puzzle games. And wish I could get it for pc..?
No reason for down play..!
I definitely will be revisiting this game because there is a secret boss that I wanna fight in it
Hey it's not an impossible task Landail is well through the playing every RPG ever made list he's probably put like 30,000 hours in it and it's only taken him like a year or two,,, or three
He started on the Atari and now he's into like the PS2 era so if he can play all of those games on his screen for like 20 to even 100 hours per game on all of those systems you can definitely make little review videos on just the PS2 games
That is insane, RPGs take so much time lol
i have a toyota too :)
Who's in the gif at 0:35 ?
Painting Girl from the Dark Souls 3 DLC, Ashes of Ariandel
When is the Summoner Review?
Not the next video but the one after that
@@WREPS2GOG That is conveniently soon. 👀
@@WREPS2GOGFinally! It is out! Haha
This game reminds me of castlevania curse of darkness with all the color weapon bullshit
My name is sienna w0w
Oh this game brings back memories, still as shitty as I remember 😂
This game is oddly good for being oddly bad.
I wish this game would be remade and reimagined. If the story could be followed better and the combat system was fixed/upgraded I really feel this could be a great game. Unfortunately I don't belive that will ever come to pass.
You better subject a chunk of your life to figuring out how to mod dark souls and just putting it in yourself
I was burnt out of jrpgs when I tried it, but I'm not completely sure if it was my burn out that prevented me from enjoying it or that the game was just that bland or not.
the aesthetic >
Give this game a PS5 remake asap
Yes!
Es una pesadilla de juego lleno de bugs
Sense when do reviews spoil the entire game? Also that uncle shit was oddly specific you might want to see someone about that.
I feel bad for this game it could've been way better and the localisation is so sloppy
Those hotdogs look awful. And what's with all the onion? I hope they taste better than they look. Still, probably better than this game. I bought it for like a tenner back as a teenager and was rather diappointed. I wanted to like it, because it looked really good. But the gameplay was just a mess.
