Vintage Hardy swing tip and J.W. Young centrepin - Bream fishing on canals - PB silver bream (Rare!)

- My first couple of canal sessions since moving to the North West from Yorkshire. This video aims to capture the character of canals, the tranquility of fishing and pays tribute to vintage coarse fishing methods.
I use my vintage Hardy swing tip rod paired with a J.W. Young & Sons Trudex centrepin reel. Both species of freshwater bream (including the rarer of the two species, Blicca bjoerkna [Silver bream]) are caught using this deadly method which is rarely seen on UK waters these days.

A very nice transitional video buddy and looking forward to seeing some new adventures on your new home waters
Cheers mate 😀
Very nice. A rare brace.
Cheers mate.
Love how angling never fails to throw up surprises.
Back out on the swing tip tomorrow, corn this time though 🎣

@@albionangling Tight lines.
just found this channel, looks like my part of the world! also my style of fishing, I love the old tackle and methods, and the grainy black and white vintage film!! my videos look like that without special effects🤣 last swing tip I saw was my dads in the 1970s!! I fish LL Canal a fair bit, around Chorley, but also lots of fly fishing on rivers. I'll take your word about the silver bream, my 1st thoughts were Roach Bream hybrid , from the roach like scales. Keen to watch some more, fella, just subbed and good luck with your channel👍
Thanks mate, much appreciated 😀.
I've started a small collection of pins, but i tend to have them all as users, don't think pins should be collecting dust on shelves!
Funnily enough, my friend said he thinks its more of a hybrid. More than happy to take the advice 😀, hopefully I can catch more and get my eye in either way!
Cheers for the sub and tight lines 🎣

@@albionangling don't take my word over the silver bream/hybrid thing, I've never caught either!!
I coarse fished through my childhood and youth with my dad, then took up fly fishing, then later merged the 2 together! So I fly fish a few coarse venues too. Seems tough getting the subs on utube at the moment, very time consuming doing music, editing etc. Oh and you've got to go fishing too 🤣🤣
@@soultrader57fishingandmusi25 yes, we tend to collect a lot of footage but it takes a lot of time putting it together.
The priority is enjoying the fishing, the videos are a nice way to document some of our highlights 😀

On to the next swing tip session down the Leeds-Liv cut!
As soon as the rivers close, we will be swinging tips down the canal for sure
That was a big silver bream!
A proper surprise Ben! Going to promise myself i do more swing tipping on canals for bream, they are an undervalued fish in my opinion 😀.
Cheers, Joel
Lovely video of a very nice looking canal. I am just starting out on trying to catch a silver bream. I have a swing tip rod so I will have a go……what strength line will I need for this
A fucking prawn!! Or full king prawn?
Behave!
Its either budgie paper or tip swinging with you isn't it 🤣
