Now about your question -
1. Almost all men feel insecure (myself included) if their height fallsin the average range in their country.
2. Almost all women expect and desire their man to be taller than them or at least be same height as they are.
3. Since time immemorial it's been a feminine principle to choose a man who could protect them from the various dangers in her environment. Usually, a bigger male is stronger, and even if he isn't he could simply intimidate the aggressor with his physique.
4. A taller male is more likely to produce taller children which again pleases her for the same reasons. This is the reason it pleases parents to watch their kids grow taller past their own height.
5. Manly is any quality that is more common in men. You could deooer voice is 'manly' simply because it follows the masculine principle. Any such 'masculine' trait is bound to attract the woman. That's nature and for us that we have no control over whatsoever. Men also are attracted to women in the same manner. So attraction has direct link with whether the person in question possession strong features that applies to their sex.
Now I am not saying that she can't attracted to a man shorter than her. Sometimes a woman is stronger than her man and can even protect him from an external aggrresor. However, we can fall in love with people of all kinds. That's why it's beautiful when someone chooses their partners despite the fact that they don't fulfill the standard list of quality/qualities that determines attraction. And that's why I am curious why they chose each other despite what may seem against their basic 'nature'.
