    I was a live-in caregiver for a Korean and Vietnam Veteran. His family put him in the nursing home (the homeless shelter he called it) recently. He didn't deserve that. He didn't want to go there. The VA better pass HR Bill 542 submitted by Elizabeth Dole. This would meke the VA pay 100% of the costs to keep Veterans in their homes with 24 in home healthcare with multiple caregivers around the clock so they can enjoy their last days, months or years in the comfort of their own home. It is too late for my caree, but not for the many other band of brothers. Garry Owen!!I will never forget watching him slip into dementia along with the ptsd, traumatic brain injury, strokes, Parkinson's, and the worse of it all, the flashbacks he began to have at 89 years old right before the dementia really set in. I have his flashback on video and never showed a soul. He was in the battle depicted in the movie "We Were Soldiers" starring Mel Gibson. He was 32 years old and a Platoon Sgt in 1965 in Charlie Co. (depicted in the movie). He lost his whole platoon. It was my greatest honor taking care of him and thankful for the freedom we have today because of him. God bless him and take him home soon, Lord!!!!!
    The battle isn't over till then. I developed ptsd from experiencing what I did with him. I can't put into words what I saw in his eyes when he told me what he was experiencing once again, 58 years later. The look on the communications Sgt's face from the movie, when he had to call in "broken arrow" is the closets I can describe what I saw looking at my caree. No words. Heartbreaking. Helpless.

    " He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that walk in the darkness, nor the destruction that lays waste at noonday.”-
    Psalm 91:4-6

    If you want to see the actual documentary the voice narration was taken from you will find it at 'Vietnam Requiem' made in 1982. Pretty disturbing stuff what some of the soldiers in the video did and saw

      Yes. It aired during Paul Hardcastle's recovery after a motorcycle accident when he watched that documentary.

    Statistics show the average age of a combat soldier in Vietnam was 22, but those under 20 had the highest fatality rate

    • @badguy5554
      @badguy5554 16 днів тому

      "Averages" don't really count. Why? Because there were a large number of older adults serving in Vietnam at the time. A better statistic is the "mean" age of the Americans serving in Vietnam. That "mean" age means half the people serving were younger...half were older. That "mean" age was MUCH lower than 22. And certainly the "mean" age of the Amercians actually serving in combat roles, in Vietnam, was lower still.

    • @Bluemoon4415-s5v
      @Bluemoon4415-s5v 14 днів тому

      @@badguy5554you have just described “median” not “mean”. There are both types of averages, the other type of average is “mode”, this would be the most common age in this case.

      Usmc 99-03 OEF /OIF /OEF 5811MP. I understand the frustration, and the feeling of not being heard. I, as well as other veterans I served with are just now getting benefits, 20 years later. I didn't have to pay a dime... Though, I kept getting denied for certain claims, PACT seriously changed my life. I encourage you to get a vso or inquire about PACT. Good luck

    With only TOTP to play his single on TV, Paul admited he did tons of remixes to keep his small record label at No 1, but it got to the stage of how many times can you chop up A docu. When it got to the None of them bit & the cheap camera trick with the cheerleader my parents said the polite version of FFS! Bottom line, Paul never had a number 1 again.
