I believe that the Pi 4 should be more powerful in term of routing and firewall. If you already have a spare RPI lying around, it is good choice to set it up as a router. However, if one need to setup a new network, I will suggest him to buy this WRT1900AC (to save money on an AP, 5 ports switch and a good case for PRI 4).

Did you notice a issue that traffic just will not forwarded and you need to reconnect to the system? It’s really mad, it’s not WiFi or DNS … it’s really Strang you can’t even ping anything
Had to change my router´s firmware since it looses the Internet several times per week. Hope with this new OpenWRT version my service won´t be unstable anymore. IPS is not the problem since their router is always working fine. Problem is with the Linksys WRT1900AC. Thanks!! I
Hello, you can see my tutorial with Samba4 to enable the file sharing and mount the hard drive. And then see the Wireguard server VPN to enable remote access. But these is not easy, it will take you sometime to master.
Hi, did you solve the problem. If not, please share more info about the problem you are facing during the configuration. I found a tutorial here, not sure if it help openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/network/ipv6_ipv4_transitioning
@@VanTechCorner Thanks for your reply, I am already familiar with this tutorial. In fact, it is the only info about OpenWrt and DS-Lite which is not enough. The problem is that after installing the “ds-lite” package, OpenWrt always asks for AFTR address within the DS-Lite device. It’s like assuming that this device is always B4, and the AFTR is residing somewhere in your ISP. I want to build the whole testbed ( client >> > B4 >>> AFTR >>> IPv4 host ) Note: AFTR & B4 are just router names defined in RFC-6333
Can I install OpenWRT on my Linksys 1900AC if it currently has DD-WRT? I installed DD-WRT in the past but I don’t like it. I did spend time trying to revert the router to manufacturer firmware but none of the methods work for me. Therefore I wanted to try to install OpenWRT directly onto the router which is currently on DD-WRT
Hello, my response is a bit late, but I hope it will help: - The Linksys WRT1900 series has 2 partitions (I call it by partition A & B). By default, these 2 partitions has stock firmware on it. " If booting from the primary partition, the secondary (or alternate) partition will be flashed on next sysupgrade, and booting is toggled to happen from that partition. The same logic applies to secondary-→primary. " - When installing DD-WRT, the firmware should be loaded on 1 partition only (partition A). You should be able to switch the stock partition (B) with some commands (check DD-WRT guide) - After you get back to the stock firmware (partition B), do flash the OpenWrt image via the web-ui. This time, the OpenWrt firmware will be loaded to partition A. After reboot, you should see OpenWrt up and running. From this, do follow the OpenWrt installation guide to flash the image to the other partition. openwrt.org/toh/linksys/wrt1900ac#dual_firmware_flashing
@@VanTechCorner Am aware of travelmate plugin but does this hardware support this functionality? I have an asus router running openwrt but couldnt make it to connect to a captive portal.
But the reason I want OpenWRT is because this router (stupidly) requires an internet connection to complete its setup (even for use as a WAP/bridge), meaning its web GUI is inaccessible.
Hi..i got 2 question/request 1. If already installed openwrt on the router, can it work with unifi? 2. Can you give tutorial how to install openwrt on Mercusys mr70x since it has wifi6
Hi, after installed OpenWRT on this router, you will need to configure PPPoE with VLAN in order to work (you need to know what is your PPPoE credential by checking with Unifi or check on the router). If you have no idea what is OpenWRT, please do not install it since the device may not working as expected. Currently OpenWRT doesn't support Mercusys mr70x and there is no way to install it (OpenWRT firmware is not available for all router/ap)
Please show us the Print Server Setup and use it from mobile without pc. We can do it with tplink firmwares eg. wdr 3600. Now i use openwrt. So show us a way.
Hi, please don't post the same comment on different videos as UA-cam will flag this as spam and may block you from commenting. For now, I have no printer to try this setup. You can take a look at this doc and try with CUPS openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/services/print_server/start

Hi, this router supports dual firmware, so make sure you install " luci-app-advanced-reboot" package and then go to System - Advanced Reboot. Here, you can select the firmware you want to reboot it.
Many thanks. Performed this function today and it worked great.

is it possible to install Astrill VPN pallet in openWRT?
sir can u do any basic of compiling openwrt firmware
how about wireless performance sir?
The WiFi speedtest at 12:06. I am able to get 470 Mbps.
I followed every direction and it didn’t work. Network would show up on phone, but would have no connection.
