    Good afternoon, I would like the file to return the Bekin RT3200 to the original firmware. Do you have it?

    • @freename
      @freename  Місяць тому

      Use the one from their website? www.belkin.com/support-article/?articleNum=208567
      I would add that there's very little reason to use the official firmware (it is bad) and if you converted to UBI partitioning then you can't go back to the stock firmware.

    Brilliant, thanks for the tutorial, it worked a charm.
    The only thing I had to do differently was use the signed installer, as my router had already upgraded itself to 2.1.000 firmware, which doesn't allow a downgrade.

  • @xPlasmaz

    Wow this was really really really clear.. probably the simplest and well spoken install I've seen yet. Its made me really consider this router because I'm sure I can follow your instructions.
    Any idea about flashing back to stock if none of it works though? Don't fancy being stuck with a router if CAKE SQM doesn't give the results I want.. I'd rather flash back and return it!

    • @freename

      A very good question and one I don't know the answer to. I think one of the pages I mention has info on it. (Either the firmware GitHub site or the OpenWRT wiki page for the Linksys/belkin). I also have many of the routers here and could test but sadly I really lack available time to do so any time soon.
      My colleague also benchmarked the QoS but I've forgotten the outcome. I do recall him saying that it wouldn't be powerful enough to do Cake QoS at gigabit. It currently does cake fine on my 80megabit VSDL. I'll try and remember to ask.

    • @freename
      @freename  2 роки тому

      I've found the notes I made (relating to use of the router on 1gig down, 110mbps up fibre service):
      QoS
      CPU only able to cope with "codel" at higher speeds. If using cake, only QoS the upload.
      QoS Does not work when hardware flow offloading in Network, Firewall is enabled.

    I'm seriously considering moving to the Linksys e8450 (Same as this RT3200). I moved to OpenWRT for DFS and deployed it on 5 WRT3200ACM as WAP devices but able to distribute VLANs throughout my property... But there is and seems there will continue to be issues with the Broadcom drivers (ie the current Kernal issue with the switch hardware). If you use the UBI installer, is this a one way move? Or can you revert back to stock memory formatting and firmware. I have no intention of doing that for my use but ultimately I'll probably want to sell these off when a WiFi-7 solution in OpenWRT comes to be. It's always easier to sell off old routers with stock firmware.

    • @freename
      @freename  Рік тому

      Strange. I would have thought they would be worth more with openwrt installed! Anyway, I'm not fully sure on the one way move.. the wiki article for the router is probably the best thing to read to find out. I have no intention of moving my one back :)
      The only bug I've found is with hardware offload enabled I have one SSH destination I connect to for weeks at a time and it randomly terminates the connection. Other SSH sessions to other locations have no problems and the problem goes away if I disabled hardware offload. It does mean my WAN can then only do 600mbps.

      To make sure the router is responding. Ping sends a small message to a destination and shows you if there is a reply.

    I tried this upgrade but I think the latest belkin firmware blocks it. I REALLY hate the latest belkin firmware because it won't let me use my old password so every wifi camera, raspberry pi config, tablet, phone, TV, Xbox and pc has to be changed to its "acceptable" password which mine had consecutive numbers "22" in it which it doesn't allow now. If you fail the backend login 4 times it forces a manual reset via button. Total garbage.

      The github page does say:
      Upload the firmware "installer" image
      If running stock firmware < 1.2.00.273012, upload the unsigned image: openwrt-...-mediatek-mt7622-linksys_e8450-ubi-initramfs-recovery-installer.itb
      Otherwise, when stock firmware is >= 1.2.00.273012, upload the signed image: openwrt-...-mediatek-mt7622-linksys_e8450-ubi-initramfs-recovery-installer_signed.itb
