I remembered the original haunted castle when I was 10 years old. Like the end of the tunnel with the red light you know you were about to jump before exiting.
Yeah we're around the same age. I went on it a few times in the mid-90s. Although the new knew version is good, the old one was definitely scarier. Less kid friendly for sure.
See now THIS is such a good step in the right direction. If they construct some display to break up the view of the ceiling and some of the walls this ride will be absolutely top-tier.
This ride reminded me of Haunted Mansion at Rocky Point Park in Warwick, RI. It was a lot older but the same type of doors and carriage/rail system. The ride broke down a few times I rode it. God I miss that park. They god rid of it in the 90s

I watch these dark ride vids and try to be nostalgic, but man...most of these are terrible. I mean if you're 4 or 6, maybe fun....but they're just so...bad!

This looks like a fun ride. I've always wanted to check out the boardwalk in Santa Cruz because of "Lost Boys."

Damn, that is one long, quality dark ride! They spruced it up some since I was last out that way.
I remember going on this years ago. One of my favorite haunted houses.
The 2010-2017 version of Haunted Castle was my favorite!
It was really tame back then.

I’m curious why they stopped doing the backwards tram car at the beginning. Was that just too much upkeep for the ride?
