Constructive criticism and in no way wanting to sound dismissive or mean: I have to say, I'd watch a lot more of your channel if the titles and thumbnails weren't always the same "the hobby is dead". I have stopped checking because smaller issues have taken enormous proportions in my mind through your titles. It gets hard to even show a video to a friend because they're all the same. I completely understand you have to play the UA-cam game because there's no way to make a living if it's not the way the damn algorithm wants, but you could make it at least a little more informative. A title like "investigate journalism on WoTC is dead!" Would work just as well imo. Sorry about saying it, but your channel has so much potential I feel like these little things are hindering your growth instead of helping it.

Discourse did a whole thing early in the OGL/One D&D vtt scandal when Hasbro was trying to get rid of Roll20 and Foundry as competition where leaked conversations showed that Hasbro was willing to lose 90% of their current customer/player base because they *knew* the remaining 10% would pay literally anything they asked, and my experience in the hobby space tells me they are 100% correct in that assumption. "Just don't buy it" means nothing to the mega-brands like D&D. They'll be fine because there are just enough people whose entire joy in life is nostalgia-- the ones who had the nostalgia glasses sewn into their faces like a cenobite. It's unfortunate, but Hasbro will be just fine. They'll exist as a zombie corporation just like, so, so many of their brethren in other industries. By all means, find other systems and other creators you feel good about supporting because they're not evil incarnate, but there's a reason Hasbro has the accounting department they do: it's to make calculations like that and act on them.

I was just reading last night about a local newspaper (Herald I believe it was called, don't remember where it was from) that was acquired by a large media company that fired ten employees at once (which was over half of the staff iirc). The newspaper responded by running a story about it talking about who was fired and how it would affect coverage of news despite the company claiming subscribers wouldn't notice a difference (implying the remaining staff would be extremely overworked) even though they now had only one photographer instead of 3. I read the article from images in a tweet about how the digital version of the article was taken down, but it has since been restored (possibly due to the traction the tweet was gaining)

The good thing about Pen & Paper RPGs is that they don't have a limit on how you can use them.
Even if tomorrow no one is reporting on new releases or Hasbro and all the other corps are going down, I still own a ton of books and can play my DnD or Pathfinder probably until I die.
New editions are important for the company, not for the players. And if you don't play the official campaigns you don't have that much to do with the publishers.
Will Hasbro screw us over with the new edition? For sure. Do I care? No, because I won't buy it anyway. I'm just starting looking at DnD 5 and I'm not impressed. So I guees I will continue to play other games and even if there will be some amazing content for the new edition... you can easily convert that back to an older edition, or even another game.
I'm sorry, for the guys at Dicebreaker, but to be fair, I never heard of the site before and it will in no way influence my RPG if they are gone.

Given that it largely exploded within the setting of the Sprawl trilogy and has spread since then to encapsulate the idea of a future run by corporations that make people make increasingly destructive decisions that grind them into worse and worse shells of themselves... It may be fun to read, but no dystopian setting is truly ever going to be fun as a reality... Hopefully, the steps you go through to make a video aren't in that order. I actually love watching your videos, whether you research them before or after you record them (lol :p). You're extremely entertaining, thoughtful, and informative. I don't even play ttrpg's but I haven't missed one of your videos since I found your channel.
As for the topic at hand, anti-monopoly laws aren't strict enough and when they *are* applied it seems haphazard. It's maddening and saddening to see good companies/sites/products thrown away in huge acquisitions because their bottom line isn't big enough, or the new owners don't want to put any effort/$ into that portion of the company, or they compete with something else the company already owns. On the other hand, it would be a great time to start up a ttrpg webzine or blog site, or, push promoting the ones that still exist (like you did here).

She knows her audience niche and caters to them. If Wizard of the Coast isn't doing something next week she'll dig up some made up controversy about Critical Role. Or anything else she can find on reddit. But it will always be something. It's what this channel exists for. And if this niche ever becomes unprofitable for her she'll just reboot to a new topic that offers as much outrage clickbait as possible. She knows what makes money.
Which if you think about it makes her no different than Wizards of the Coast. They both take advantage of D&D fans for profit.
It really doesn't matter what fandom you go to. All outrage clickbait channels are the same.
I'm not saying one shouldn't make videos about the bad things these corporations are doing. But if you don't have videos about any other topic, not a single positive video about your hobby, then you're not actually a fan. You're just a grifter who is using the fan base because you know they're easy marks.
Of course Wizards of the Coast makes it easy. So you really can't fault her TOO much. Except everyone else is doing it too and UA-cam has become a cesspool as a result. Remember when fandom was a fun thing? Back before every "content creator" realized outrage got a lot more clicks? I sure do. I miss when people made UA-cam videos because they were passionate about their interests. Back before it was a vehicle for those who just desperately don't want to have to get a real job.

There is a need to get the horses in front of the carts. The reason the internet is “three websites” is not because they’ve engaged in nefarious monopolistic tactics, but because those are the sites EVERYONE goes to. This indie news site didn’t get bought out because IGN sent Guido and Vinne to “make them an offer they can’t refuse”. The sold out to IGN because they couldn’t get enough people to subscribe or enough views to sell advertising. (Probably because most of their audience goes to YuTubers reading their articles instead of going to their site to read it themselves.
In short, they couldn’t make enough money to cover their expenses. They had a choice: go bankrupt and everyone lose their jobs, or sell out to a “corporate news conglomerate” who would most likely lay most everyone off, but drop a ton of money in their bank accounts. Either way most of the folks there weren’t likely to keep their jobs, because the audience who need the “important news about indie games” aren’t willing to PAY for that news or take the TIME to check out a half dozen websites and read three or four stories each (with their ad blockers turned off).

Apparently consolidating a bunch of little news sites nobody reads just leaves you with a BIG "news" site that nobody reads.
They're laying off people across the whole board of their various "departments" or "tabs" or whatever, because they still can't get enough page views to pay the guy using AI prompts to write all their listicles.
