Project X Zone is the reason I found out about Sakura Wars, Darkstalkers, .hack, End of Eternity, Shining Force, Super Robot Wars, Valkryia Chronicles, Xenosaga and God Eater. That's a whole damn lot, if you ask me. This is just one of the many things that shaped my video game tastes.

Seeing this franchise shift in terms of combat systems really makes me wonder how Kite would fare if he was playable outside the original 4 titles. We really need an HD collection/remake with updated mechanics, I paid over $200 for an unopened copy of Quarantine for crying out loud.
I'm buying both PC and PS4 copies as soon as they come out, in fact. I accept it as a birthday present from CC2 as my birthday's 9 days after the US release.
i had watched lets plays of both the original quadrilogy and GU, as well as watched roots, however i never actually played any of the games. when i saw a trailer for project x zone, i was interested but didnt think i would buy it. it wasnt until i saw kite an blackrose were in the game that i decided i would get the game. the fact that it introduced me to this song only makes me happier that i got it.
I miss it had a more optimistic tone and Aura was treated as someone to be loved and not "some goddess" to prove to her she could sit on her butt and didn't need to interact with anyone.

I used to have this game called robot taisen frontier. it was like project x zone (but with only 7 characters, and 3 robot things), the characters from that game are also in project x zone characters: haken, kaguya or somethin idk
Was never released for US. For reasons I have no Idea. There has been a group of people trying to make a English sub with what was left to work with in the ISO. Installing the sub is a complicated process. Since for some reason no one has uploaded a ISO with the Sub Package in it.....
the two are too different to even compare, the only thing similar between the two is that their story setting is within an MMO, and in terms of characters, .hack characters have more depth than the one dimensional characters of SAO

I felt the same... but it's coming back! There's a G.U. remaster in the works from CC2 and the copyright has just been made in Europe so it's almost definitely coming to the West.

DX And it's especially bad when you tell them to heal you when you're almost dead, and instead you die in such a horrifically stupid way, they might as well have killed you themselves! So i don't even bother with that anymore, I just load up my player char with healing items and spells, and i forget about almost anything else until those and my armor are maxed out. ^_^

Actually its because the series never caught on in the states. Mainly because of its one story over four games gimmick. Remember that this was before XBox live and all four of the original games and later G.U games cost $50 each. I basically bought them in resale at least five years later. The gimmick was panned by everyone in the media due to it. If the series itself came out nowadays it would do better thanks to Xbox live and the PSN.
To be entirely fair that is a bit of an assumption - that could be attributed to a number of games that never sold well, despite being amazing. But one that isn't without merit - Link wasn't viewed highly upon by the core in Japan so it likely wasn't worth sending over-seas.
maybe we will rise up again with the release of the final fantasies on the ps4? or maybe atlus will revive some with SMT4 that just came out....we can also count on KH3 to make way for full revival....

Kite shows up at the very, very end of SIGN since the story concludes at the same time the original four games began. He also shows up as a full voiced role in the extra SIGN episode, which is pretty much wacky funtime celebrations after said games. Shugo unwittingly gets a semi-clone of his character in Legend of the Twilight, and Sakuya of Quantum and Sora of the movie both are based off of Kite's design, but none of them are actually Kite himself. In fact, while G.U. has a copy of him appear in that trilogy of games, Kite really doesn't show up as himself for most of the rest of the series until Link - which means western audiences never really got to see Kite again, besides in importing Versus.
.hack/LINK was never released in the US because it was a PSP exclusive and while in Japan the PSP has found a niche in japanesecentric games like this the PSP has never had the same success internationally. Also the franchise never caught on in the US mainly because of the four disk gimmick. And CC2 has never had a hit in the US so the franchise is basically dead and buried.
Also LINK was a PSP exclusive and the PSP was pretty much dead in the west in 2009 with all eyes on the Vita. The PSP does much better in Japan because it basically has widget titles, gory widget titles, and widget titles with porn on them. And mainly from franchises that the American mainstream wouldn't give the time of day. And because EVERYONE does better in Japan than the Vita. Even the WiiU.

I believe, if I remember correctly, Shugo also met the original Kite once at the end when Balmung invited him to come back. Idk if manga or anime.

The PSP does much better in Japan because it basically has widget titles, gory widget titles, and widget titles with porn on them. And mainly from franchises that the American mainstream wouldn't give the time of day. And because EVERYONE does better in Japan than the Vita. Even the WiiU.

@@noshstradamus Sorry if you guys already looked into it but CyberConnect created the .hack series and is responsible for developing the Ninja Storm games as well. So it probably is the same composer.
