This is one of the those obscure anime that aired at a late hour for me on an SBS station, that, years later, I still haven't heard a single person talk about. Funnily I don't remember anything about it at all plot wise - even having watched it twice(ish). But as far as soundtrack sleeper hits go, Monochrome is absolutely unforgettable.
I just recall the MC /swam/ to the Island and nearly drowned, citing a very Guy-sensei reason for coming (something something youth), there was a secret society with masks and they wanted to rule the world using those giant robots but only those chosen or with that weird mask could drive them, the MC was called "the galactic pretty boy (bisbounen) there were like 3-ish shrine maidens who were to some relevance to control the big king robot and the male friend of MC joined the evil guys and piloted the King robot with the motivation that he wanted to save himself and his gf from being stuck on the island because they were guardians to the weird robot king thing I think. That's what I think I remember plotwise...

watching it back when its airing, as far i remember there battle in each epsisode, that kinda cool, back when this song played in background , i just like it, after some time i forgot bout it, but somehow i remember it again
I love both versions, this one feels like an anime opening or ending. The other sounds like one the character sings in the show or plays in the bg during an important moment. 😮❤

I don't remember this version, also sounds pretty good! Doesn't hold a candle to the original though. That song is god tier.
All the maidens have 2 versions of their respective songs, a somber version and a more upbeat version.
Sounds good, the orchestra variant sounds like a Keiichi Okabe knock-off.
